N'Golo Kante | Off to Chelsea

He rejected that contract offer.

He has a £20m release clause, however, if a club offers more Leicester can reject the lower offer and accept the highest bid. That is why it is €35m.

Does our lack of interest in him indicate that Mou likes Schneiderlin?

Hopefully. I've said it before, part of Mourinho's remit has to be to improve the current squad. Schneiderlin is a very good player. Different to Kante but do similar jobs.

There had been rumours that before we went for Wanyama we enquired about Schneiderlin and were promptly told to go away so yes I think he is very much in the plans.

A few people claiming this is done and will be announced today (Kante to Chelsea).

I don't think we were in for him, like others have said we have a few players that will already be able to do the job Kante would have done.

Plus, signing players after just 1 good season in the PL can be very risky.

Any French speakers or natives in here who know whether that Le Parisien are reliable? OR just another gossip paper

If he moves, it will be in January. Why would he miss the Champions' League with Leicester?

They will go far in it as well.

It wont solely be based on the CL. He will plan his career beyond what will happen next year, he will have the next 3-5yrs in mind. Thinking in that context, who is more likely to give you a successful 3-5yrs, Chelsea or Leicester? No brainer.

Give up CL this year with Leicester but probably mount a title challenge with Conte and in all likelihood be back in CL next year, or play CL this yr with Leicester, and risk the big guys losing interest.

Different situation to Vardy IMO, Vardy signed that new deal because he seems a guy who loves being the "big shot" in the team, and all the pleading to stay, was exactly what he wanted. Kante complete opposite IMO, comes across really humble

So Vardy stayed at Leicester due to his enormous ego whilst Kante will move to chelsea because he is so humble.

got it.

I don't get the idea of where Kante being humble comes from? Seems totally baseless and random to me. Because he's not an English gobshite like Vardy?

we have offered to make Kante our highest paid player, as we showed with Vardy we won't roll over and have our tummy tickled while the so called big 4 cherry pick our players.

Also Chelsea haven't made that bid according to Sky Sports.

If Kante decides to leave so be it, we already have the man we wanted to sign before him in to replace him and N'Golo was part of history here, hopefully like Vardy he will decide to stay and sign the new deal

They are as reliable as the English journalists.

I hope you keep your best players, will be exciting to see if Leicester can become a regular force at the top end of the table. Unless of course United want one of them :p.

It would be a great signing for them if true. Conte's side probably won't be that exiting, at least in the first season (well it's if they won't suddenly sign 3 or 4 world-class attackers) but they will certainly be hard to beat for anyone in the league.

tell you what let's do a swap, you get Kante we get DDG?

That's not much of a release clause. A big club offers 20M, and the chairman immediately rings up his pal at Manchurian United and says: "Okay, you put in a 35M bid. When it comes to wage negotiations, you offer the player 5 yak skins and a year's supply of camel dung. If he chooses not to accept, problem solved."

I would be very inclined to believe Le Parisien when it comes to French players moving, or french based clubs doing something. But thats just me

I think this is a gamble for Chelsea. I don't exactly rate Kante after one good season. I think it's telling that we finished above Chelsea and have signed Mourinho and Ibrahimovic, while City has gotten guardiola and whoever else they've signed this year while Chelsea is seemingly content with just getting Conte (who I rate highly) and Kante so far. Bad business for the blues.

We won't have a chance at an easier title for a long time.

Chelsea and City arent done though. Batshuayi, and Kante (if true) isnt a bad start is it, really.

Except they don't have relationships like that.

How is it telling for Chelsea that we got Jose when they sacked the bum 8 months ago

To be fair, Conte is a bloody good manager. Its going to be hell of a title fight

English players have no intelligence, technique or humility. Everyone knows that.

We'll have an in form Hazard at the start of the season and Costa was also fit and firing at the end of last season. Those two healthy and rested are better than anything United or City currently have bar Agüero.

Am sure Mourinho has seen enough of what we have, and of Kante to judge it. Trust him on it.

Schneiderlin got almost everyone on here, frothy last summer, shock of us actually buying someone good for the position we needed it.
It's unthinkable Mourinho won't get more out of him than Van Gaal did, as VG seemed to stunt pretty much everyone apart from De Gea, Smalling and Martial.

What makes you think that either will be better than last season?
And also, signing the new striker completely changes the dynamic with Costa.

Clearly I recognise the foolishness of the United guy saying we won't have a chance of an easier title!
What, like last year!?

We just have that tiny aspect of a new manager, a lot of new players, and a lot of rivals, having finished 5th!
