NFL 2022

Finally officially off for tonight. What terrible handling of the situation by the NFL.

Thanks for this. He got that out pretty fast.
Hopefully they got to him in time and he will pull through.
This guy is typically very solid regarding injuries, but it’s usually the next day. Impressed at the quick turnaround.

Absolutely embarrassing that he had to specifically say Hamlin’s collapse wasn’t due to the vaccines. YouTube replies are full of posts blaming the jab.

NFL taking a lot of shit but I don’t think that they did anything crazy wrong. Coverage kept visuals private and they cancelled the game. Don’t really think it matters when the decision was made

Yep, could quibble that the call took perhaps a few minutes longer than it should have, but the right call was made.

Of course it does

Why does it matter if they didn’t actually play? The decision to cancel a game has to come from the top and so needs to have a full assessment of the situation. Obviously in future they might say that if it’s a situation like this then we should cancel sooner but this is the first time this happened.

It very much matters. Initially they wanted to reconvene after a five minute break. It will eventually come out who made the decision (my guess is the players and coaches) and how it played out in the league office. If it comes out that Goodell/the league tried to force the game to restart, there will be a huge shitstorm.

They also should have had some form of gameplan for this type situation. Christian Eriksen's collapse should have put every sports league on notice to create some contingency for a major life-threatening or fatal injury.

Who says it was the NFL that made the decision and not the players and staff refusing after initially being told they had 5 minutes to warm up.

Shocking stuff just woke up and looked at the score something why they were still still in the first quarter.

Hope he pulls through nothing else matters as regards the game and yeah Skip Bayless should finally be sacked but sadly he won't be

Obviously could be something different, but it seems a lot of MDs are tweeting about commotio cordis now. Here’s a confirmed case of commotio cordis in a karate match (spoilered because I don’t believe they were able to revive this guy) but I post it because you see the same delay between impact and collapse as you saw tonight.

Coach is being the anti-Skip Bayless tonight…

Oh my god, look at the amount received. Crying right now.

$3.1 million dollars. The goal was $2500.

This is awful stuff, damn :( Thoughts go out to Hamlin, hopefully we get some encouraging reports in the course of today.

Just woke up & seen the news about Damar Hamlin. Scary & very worrying to hear. Really hope he pulls through.

Absolutely horrible news to see this morning, and galling to see the anti-vax scum latching on to it.

Hope we hear good news in the coming days.

Just rewatched the hit again, it has Dale Earnhardt Daytona vibes about it; both seemed rather innocuous & a 'normal' event that occur multiple times in every game / race.

Thankfully it was recognized as being severe by the entirety of the medical staffs on both sidelines.

I think as someone else posted I think, you’d almost be less concerned if he’d just stayed down post the hit. The fact he got up and collapsed immediately in my view flags the enormity of the situation.

One thing I was curious about. I assume they have emergency staff available to hand at these games. Is there a particular reason they didn’t rush him to hospital faster than they did? I assume it’s because what he needed to was already available but I was interested.
