NFL 2021

But it’s all hearsay right? And largely theoretical from the media / what fans want if their team already sucks. It’s rare something like this ever gets publicised if it does happen. It’s very different to your usual stuff.

Of course, and I think the players and coaches pretty much all want to win when they go onto the field. No one wants to become a 0-16 team.
Still, the incentives are backwards if you are already out of the playoffs.

Does this really prove discrimination? Sure, it’s a dick move to have decided on a candidate while still interviewing, but doesn’t have to be race related.

It is in reference to the Rooney Rule. Clubs with a vacancy for Head Coach must interview at least one minority candidate as part of their search and this indicates they had chosen their white Head Coach before he even had his interview.

Ross is generally reviled in Miami and most fans have had enough of him. Wouldn't at all surprise me if most of this was true.

Sadly, the NFL is run by the owners and just as Kap found out the hard way, Flores making waves by suing the league will likely only result in him not working again.

I know that you are right but at the same time the Wilfs are known to be a bit wild, they already upset the league years ago(the poison pills) and it would be hilarious if they did it again with Harbaugh, Kap and Flores.

Flores should never have been sacked. Was a ridiculous decision.

Thanks. Was not aware of that rule. Then the conclusion is sadly pretty clear.

Have to add. BB really does know how to hold a grudge, this is a massive PR nightmare for the league and Roger Goodell and I do not buy for one second that Bill accidentally texted the wrong Brian. The scars of Spygate and Deflategate run deep here.

It goes back to the last game of the year, when the Lions had to throw the game for the first pick (since Jags were winning) but chose not to. Why? Because imagine the type of attitude and mentality you set your team if you try and lose a game. Showing that commitment to winning can be worth more than that better slot. I get this years a bit different with no clear elite QB and hence gap between top x players is marginal, but I don’t think you should underestimate how much setting the right mentality in the organisation means.

How the feck is that relevant? That sounds like that classic “I’m not racist because I have an ethnic friend” logic.
How is it not? It was the same people making the hire. He’s suing them because their hair was messy and they were late to an interview.

Sorry buddy but I’m just not with you at all on this. Quite against actually. Just because the same people had previously hired a black coach does not mean that they did not unfairly treat Flores when he applied/was on the list/whatever. Its a dangerous logic to set quite frankly. Just to be clear, im not saying Flores necessarily has a case. But one must judge that purely on the facts of his case. If you think it’s bullshit based on that that’s perfectly fine. But suggesting it must be bullshit because the Broncos have previously had a black head coach is just garbage.

I find the whole Miami thing strange because I don’t see anything wrong with asking your coach to lose or tamper a QB

I’m saying it’s bullshit on a legal basis, which it clearly is. Vance isn’t the basis for that argument, just supporting evidence.

Who'd want to coach / play for your team if you actively want them to lose?

Also you would have to be a proper idiot, nothing prevents the owner from sacking you because you lost too many games which will be on your record and be held against you in the future. Someone Raheem Morris is still judged for his stint with the Bucs +10 years ago.

It’s not supporting evidence. If a woman files a lawsuit against her boss for harassment, it’s not a valid defence for her boss to say “oh but this woman worked for me before and I didn’t harass her”. A murderer can’t plead innocence because they didn’t murder every other person they’ve met. It’s just a seriously outdated trail of thought, especially when it comes to racism. And it really is not OK. It should have no weight in your assessment. Assessing based on the legal merit of the case alone is all you should be doing.

Yet it’s talked about openly, at least in the media and among fans. Wasn’t there campaigns to ‘Suck for Luck’ and ‘Tank for Trevor’, when they were becoming eligible for the draft?
Feel like giving a 100k per loss incentive crosses the line...

As if my day wasn't going bad enough. Thanks.

As a Washington fan I am surprised and relieved not to be named in this suit. It is hard to imagine any scandal in the NFL that does not have Dan Snyder knee deep in the middle of it.
Fecking hell, expectations must have fallen to new lows when you’re actually relieved to not be a part of every NFL scandal

I think you’re twisting my words in a way which misrepresents my feelings on the matter, so I will bow out of this argument.

It’s pretty obvious that this sort of thing happens in the league and in any case putting this out in public is pretty silly. Modern sport is all about getting any edge possible and so I am sure most teams are doing illegal stuff behind doors to get an edge. I don’t see how this matters in his case

Filming cheerleaders in the nude on secret cameras - Washington
Forcing cheerleaders to entertain wealthy guests of the owner - Washington
Exchanging racist emails and nude video of cheerleaders with Jon Gruden - Washingtons VP
Sexually harassing over 40 female employees - Washington

The list goes on.

Your third sentence is incongruous with your second.

Are they done looking through all the emails yet?

I’m not intentionally trying to be obtuse. Nor really “arguing”. But I really do want to convince you that it’s not OK, whether a supporting factor or main argument or even a flicker through your mind, to consider Flores’ case in the light of the Broncos previously having a black HC.

My favorite isn't directly linked to the franchise but Snyder himself who organized a shady deal in order to cut trees in a federal park, for a better view.
