Well, some of those involved didn’t want to sell; now they can’t block it. The Pat Bowlen trust that he set up to arrange transfer of ownership before he succumbed to Alzheimer’s can now determine which sale is in the best interests of the franchise. It’s a long story...

But this has been brewing for a long time now and it is one of the most valuable sports franchises anywhere, so they already have at least 7 suitors and supposedly not necessarily the ones that have been linked (so no Bezos?). They’ve probably already been vetted by the NFL to some extent so it could move quickly from here.
interesting - thanks!

Daniel Jones should go too.

But seriously what makes NFL teams perform so badly every season? I'm talking teams like the Giants, Jaguars and Jets etc. I mean the NFL is more of a level playing field compared to most other sports with how the draft works and trades and stuff. But the same teams are so consistently bad.

And the owner actually said they would hire a GM before looking for a HC. Kinda baffled that this is not the case in Chicago and Minnesota where they're already setting up HC interviews, surely the GM would want a guy he sees himself working with in place.

The Giants also need to pick a QB or trade back in this draft imo but I doubt they will. They'll most likely have the QB of their choice available at #5, perhaps #7 as well if the Panthers wanna continue the Darnold slugfest.

I presume the vetting goes along the lines of:

Are you old? Y/N
Are you rich? Y/N
Are you white? Y/N
Are you male? Y/N
Are you massively out of touch with the players? Y/N

If you've answered yes to all, you're in

That's quite a fall from grace. I guess it coincided with Peyton Manning retiring, but he wasn't even good in his final season. The defense won them that Super Bowl.
Yea is v strange. I can’t really remember in detail what happened to them the next year, would need to leave it to the resident Broncinhios to remind us tbh.

Yeah Giants were decent enough in 2016, one of Manning's last good years and of course Beckham in his prime.

Just went to look at Beckham's stats, just fecking crazy that he had a 91-1305-12 line in TWELVE GAMES. That's way better than even what Jefferson and Chase have shown the last two seasons.

But he fecked Mayfield doh.

Maybe some of the pessimism around the Boys is warranted…? They’re only giving 3 points vs SF at Jerryworld.

Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati BengalsCIN -6
New England Patriots at Buffalo BillsBUF -4
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay BuccaneersTB -8.5
San Francisco 49ers at Dallas CowboysDAL -3
Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City ChiefsKC -12.5
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles RamsLAR -4

Yeah just came here to post that.

Ridiculous. Could've been in COTY consideration for winning 4 games with that squad for that organization.

If Denver does hire a defensive coach (as is odds on to happen), then Pep Hamilton from the Texans needs to be near the top of the list to add on the offensive side of the staff.

Mills looking competent or even just slightly below-average as a rookie in that environment was an accomplishment.

The journos seem to think it’s Dan Quinn vs Nathaniel Hackett.

I’d rather go with Hackett, maybe just maybe he could bring his QB with him but probably not.

They’re far and away the favorites according to anyone I know worth listening to.

Quinn’s track record with OCs (Kyle) gives him an edge over another defensive guy like Flores who was going through them like a teenager does with crushes.

I’ve been watching Brandon Perna & Will Keys video podcast discussing the candidates and they made a good point that they think those two are the real HC candidates and the others are more being looked at for potential coordinator roles.

Bring in Hackett as HC and Getsy or
Kellen Moore as OC, that’s a hell of a statement of intent of fixing the offence. Then perhaps Gannon as DC if they want to move on from Donatell and Gannon would be open to a sideways move.

Mike Klis has called Kellen Moore the next Sean McVay and thinks he should get the HC gig but thinks it will go to Quinn.

Hackett with Mayo as DC is my home run scenario.

I’d definitely take that.

What do you think of Carson Strong? Good prospect?
Best overall arm in the draft; M. Willis has the strongest but you never know where it’s going to end up. But he has the least mobility of the top guys so carries the stigma of resembling some recent Bronco failures: Cutler, Brock, Lock…

I (and every draft ‘expert’ out there) am iffy on using a #9 pick on him. But in the 2nd he’s absolutely worth taking a flier on, and trading back in the first to pick up more assets and still get him is a feasible option. And Mills‘ and Mac Jones‘ performance this year relative to higher rated mobile rookie QBs might give them leeway to feel good about taking a chance on him.

Cool thanks.

Why would Kellen Moore leave Boys job to be Broncos OC

If that rumour was true I would like to know why.

If that rumour was true I would like to know why.

Why he’s interested in a ginormous promotion? Or why the interest might be reciprocated?

If the latter and the Kiffin rumors are also true, then it looks like they’re doing a 180 from Zimmer to a big-brain offensive guy.

More why would he make it known for the Vikings and not other teams. For the Vikings it makes sense and made sense two years ago because that's where the talent in the team is, the defense was the weakest point; that's why I opted to see Stefanski replace Zimmer but it didn't happen.

It’s all much of a muchness. No surprise Moore is considering the Vikes with JJ in place and relatively stable owners, but that does not mean much. You have to take the good old boy gossip network with a grain of salt.

I thought the league stopped permitting lateral moves with an extra title attached. Moore could go if his contract is up but Denver cannot hire him for the same role if contracted to Dallas, has to be a promotion.

I'm pretty sure that the rule is that Denver would have to demand permission to talk to Moore. The league doesn't prevent lateral moves, you are simply not considered a free agent, that applies to anyone that is under contract and isn't interviewing for a head coach position.
