With the schedule that the Raiders have, and the lack of obvious improvement in the secondary, despite the draft and free agents, I cannot blame most from staying away from the Raiders this year as a pre-season bet. That said, as a Raiders fan, bring it on...

@Raoul did you catch any of the Broncos last night? I know you mentioned you'd watched the last one, I've just been reading that Kyle Sloter put in a decent shot at winning the backup job with Lynch injured.

Took a bit for a safety on the opening drive but then found his form and put together some solid drives.

I think Pittsburgh will win 12-14 games with that schedule and if the big name offensive players can play together more than a few games, and if Bell returns at some point. That puts them right in the mix with New England for homefield.

I'll take the Titans in the AFC South, Packers in the North, Falcons in the NFC South, and Seahawks in the West. The AFC West and NFC East will be dogfight for all involved except the Chargers and Redskins, likely last placed finishes looming. I think both Dallas and Oakland will fall back a bit for various reasons but mostly defensive issues (I'm a Cowboys fan, it pains me to predict a fall back).

Predictions (which I'll inevitably get 75%+ wrong)
AFC
East - Patriots 13-3 ; Dolphins 8-8 ; Bills 5-11 ; Jets 1-15
North - Steelers 12-4 ; Ravens 8-8 ; Bengals 6-10 ; Browns 2-14
South - Titans 11-5 ; Texans 9-7 ; Colts 7-9* ; Jags 3-13 [if Luck misses games they will tank]
West - Chiefs 10-6 ; Broncos 10-6 ; Raiders 9-7 ; Chargers 6-10
Wild Card games: Titans over Texans, Chiefs over Broncos
Divisional games: Patriots over Chiefs, Steelers over Titans
Championship game: Steelers over Patriots

NFC
East - Giants 10-6 ; Cowboys 9-7 ; Eagles 8-8 ; Redskins 7-9
North - Packers 12-4 ; Lions 9-7 ; Vikings 8-8 ; Bears 5-11
South - Falcons 11-5 ; Buccaneers 10-6 ; Panthers 9-7 ; Saints 7-9
West - Seahawks 11-5 ; Cardinals 10-6 ; Rams 6-10 ; 49ers 4-12
Wild Card games: Seahawks over Buccaneers, Giants over Cardinals
Divisional games: Packers over Giants, Falcons over Seahawks
Championship game: Falcons over Packers

Super Bowl LII - Falcons over Steelers

Didn't catch this last game but saw him last week. I remember watching him and thinking he was more impressive than the other two. Definitely one to watch.

Cheers, gonna try and find some highlights later.

Hawks d line just went from strong to even stronger

Seattle is primed to go on a run this year. The past few seasons they didn't seem to have 'it', define that as you may, but I certainly see them contending this season. Wilson is looking even better than usual and I expect the offense to improve after having another year to gel and work out the kinks in the playcalling.

I see the Browns have cut Brock.

As much as I'll always have a fondness for him for his role in the road to SB50 it's all gone very wrong for him since.

Surprised that everyone is so high on Atlanta. I expect the panthers to do a lot better than last season.

People shouldn't underestimate how valuable Kyle Shanahan was to Atlanta's offense. Playcalling is the often forgotten aspect of football. He elevated Matt Ryan from being an average to above-average QB to becoming the MVP. Ryan never played so well. Secondly, their HB tandem is absolutely insane. This year they will need to figure out, as Shanahan did, how to get Coleman and Freeman plenty of touches - that won't be easy, especially considering opposing defenses have a year of tape to review.

Atlanta's young, quick defense will possibly outshine the offense. That division is always a crap shoot and all 4 teams have legit chances. It will be fun to watch.

Ever since the SB it looked like Seattle were their own worst enemy.

Their o-line was terrible last year. I mean just God-awful. And they've already lost their starting left tackle Fant to season-ending ACL injury. They're not going on any runs until they get that fixed. Wilson will be running for his life in the backfield.

Wow...the Osweiler thing is insane. Broncos would be wise to avoid although knowing Elway I don't know if he can resist.

Pls don't tell me you have faith in Eddie Lacy.

It's not just him. Rawls, Prosise and Carson. Lacy is just there as insurance. If Rawls and Prosise stay healthy, they won't need him much.

I can see Prosise as a good sleeper pick. I honestly don't trust Rawles or Lacy tbh.

Understandable, but I don't think it's possible for all 3 of Lacy, Prosise and Rawls to be unreliable again this year. At least one will have a good year, I think.

I think our oline will be below average this year with our wheeler dealing, a great improvement.

Rawls is the real deal when healthy, same with Prosise. Then Carson comes along in preseason and really starts playing against 1st teamers. RB is strong.

God I miss when the NFL would start Labor Day weekend. Used to camping with a load of family and friends. Sunday we would play football all morning then fire up the grills , turn on the Tv's and radios , and enjoy the games.

What? Hell no!

That defense was terrific - and then they added Sheldon Richardson. Should be top of the league as usual. Seattle won't have to score that many points, but if necessary, I trust in Russell Wilson. He's as elusive as a weasel on the field and he has incredible vision and plenty of experience. Mike Pettine made the error of publicly slamming Wilson in 2015, look what happened to him, not even employed in the League anymore. Don't doubt his playmaking ability. Yes, I agree the O-line is sub-par, but it has been for sometime now and Seattle still makes it to the playoffs every year. If things get only a smidge better upfront then the Seahawks will be dangerous.

And when I say that they could make a run, that doesn't equate to me stating they are the best team. The Patriots are miles ahead of everyone. The Seahawks will win their division no doubt and then once the playoffs start it often becomes an unpredictable madness. On any given day a team as talented as the Seahawks can beat anyone - they won in Foxborough last year to be fair. Their schedule this year isn't that rough either: they will be tested away @NYG, GB and DAL. Besides that, they have the Falcons and Eagles at home - they can win everyone of those games.

Football is great, man. Even better when shared with family. I miss those days - I'm not as young as I used to be but I can't wait to visit some of my relatives for the holidays and throw around the pigskin with some kids.

But the thing is, the Seahawks in their most successful years have always been about running the ball. So their success doesn't just start with the defence but also the run game.

That run game is what's really hit by a poor o-line. Last season Seattle were 25th in the league in rushing yards. The two years before? 1st and 3rd respectively.

Last season Seattle jumped from a 20-25th passing team in the 2014 and 2015 seasons to 10th. Jumped by over 500+ yards. But were they any better? No, probably worse.

So whilst it's all good having faith in Wilson... actually they need that run game back to really click on offence.

Having said that, Wilson is improving and i think he can handle the ball in his hand significantly more than previous seasons and so the run game isn't quite as important.

The defence isn't quite what it was once too. Sherman not as "lock-down" - not as good a no.2 on the other side, and niggling injuries. It's still a top 3 defence without a shadow of a doubt but the Texans and Broncos have defences at least on a par if not better.

I think the Seahawks will be in the play-offs and win their division but, I think they are some way off the top teams in the league at this stage. They would be the underdogs against a few NFC teams and AFC teams.

Bears release Aguayo...

Broncos have released TJ Ward as well

That's been touted for a few days, it saves $4.75m in cap space and there's some really highly rated younger players coming through in that position.

Still gutted though, he's a great player and deserved to see his contract out.

Yes. Sucks a good veteran had to be let go to clear cap space, but understand the business decision behind it.

Brisett traded to the Colts for Dorsett. Had a great game against the Giants the other day, probably means Luck isn't ready for action anytime soon.

Seems we're committing long term to Jimmy G & confident of keeping him beyond this season.

Good pick up for both teams - Brisett has upside as a decent backup and Dorsett yet another receiver for Golden Boy.

What this really shows is that Luck is damaged goods for even more time - will the Colts ever regain what they had in his first few seasons? Seems like such a waste at this point. That division is kinda brutal to watch, except for Tennessee's running game.
