Both my picks to make the Super Bowl flamed out this past weekend, so which two teams should I curse now?
Patriots will be a popular choice to curse
I had Pats-Saints. So one of mine gone.

Do think Pats will still get there, as I’m sure they’ll make it hard for Bortles. But I’m not confident, they definitely have the pass rush through the middle to disrupt and sack Brady

The Jags also have the speed to make life rough for the RB and TE when Brady targets them.

Gronk needs to start doing some sprints in preparation for the Jags - think he’ll be the difference.

Definitely curse the Patriots. I had Steelers but they did their usual managing to feck things up. Just happened one game earlier than expected.

If the Patriots do make the super bowl...

The hate in this place if the Pats win the Super Bowl will be unbearable.
The pandemonium if we lose the super bowl will be unbearable.

Basically I would stay away on Super Bowl day if we make it.

 so true!

Also the Brady comments will be fun to see. If we win, he’s just a system QB who is expected to win. If we lose it will be ‘see he’s overrated. 3 time loser. Jimmy G for life, bitches.’

As far as I can see there is only downside here!

If we win, 6 over 5 doesn’t add much to Brady, especially for those who don’t think 5 means much.
Also there’ll be those who say it means nothing because we had an easy ride - easy division easy playoff run.
Brady was on the decline too (even though his last 5 ref season ratings dip is consistent with the last half decade) So only reason we won cos we got awesome coaches.

I.e no credit for winning!

If we lose the Brady is finished and the era is at an end with all the coordinators leaving and the infra-team strife comments will all come!

I don’t hate or blame the people who do it. Actually can understand it. But on Super Bowl day I don’t know if with all the emotion I’d be able to handle it.

And that’s if we made it... if we lose to Bortles I might die!

just want to say to all the patriots fans here, dont give in. youre going through a rough time right now but we are care about you and it does get better
Mariotta, Bortles and then Keenum/Foles. Tough to expect the Pats to get through quality QB opposition like that. That's why the NFL has made the officials give them one or two calls.

Hold your GOAT coaches and tight-ends close tonight.

There's hope Eboue, it seems they gave away their next franchise QB
Knowing them they'll luck into another one

Proud of the response to the whining Pats fans up there. #thoughtsandprayers

Brady hurt his hand in practice, should be okay come game day but something to keep an eye on.
Achilles and shoulder injuries throughout the season it seems, and not the first time his left hand has bothered him either. Hasn't stopped him playing and had a cracking season - but does make you wonder about the Jimmy g transfer yet again if this was a concern for Bill, specially with Tom being 40.

Again they really had two options trade him when they did or watch him walk away for free at the end of the season. Dumping Brady for Jimmy G was not really an option they were going to pursue.

I know the thought of losing to the Jags would seem very embarrassing but I do think it’s a bad matchup for Brady. Historical stats do not bode well!

I think it’ll be a close game for sure though. I can’t see Brady putting up huge numbers so strangely the key will be how Bortles plays and how much they can ride Fournette.

Getting ahead early will be key too to hopefully play on Bortles’ mindset.

Jags D can't afford to give up the yardage they did to Pittsburgh. I doubt they will. I don't see a lot of YAC for the Pats. Seeing a 20-17 score just not sure who wins.

Not necessarily. Could have sorted a contract with Jimmy before the free agency period and trade Brady. Also, I think there was an option in Brady's contract for him to be released after this season if the team decided so. Can't remember where I saw that.

As I said dumping Brady after last years Super Bowl was not an option and letting him go midseason was also no chance. Given when Jimmy G was traded it is likely some contract talks were held and Jimmy G was looking to be a starter NOW and get a bigger contract then the Pats could offer him with Brady still around. I know everyone is drooling over Jimmy G because of his fantastic start (I also think he will be at least a very good QB in the NFL) but let's not pretend he matches Brady yet.

Brady's level of play makes extremely unlikely the Pats would cast him aside. Let's be realistic here. Brady is there until he decides to leave or his ability drops way off.

Also any new contract with Jimmy G would likely have affected the salary cap for this season ( and he likely would have wanted some big bucks) and might have meant having to weaken themselves elsewhere. Every move they made in the off season gave no indication that they were willing to lay low this season. They are gunning for the title.

Bill B likes to key on one part of the opponents offense, take it away and make the weaker part beat them. Not a shot at Bortles , but I think they'll key against the run, spy Bortles and see if he can beat them with his arm. He could play well enough to win the game.

Brady isn't a top 2 QB anymore, but the point still stands that he's very good.

Also, Jags defense if being heavily overrated by everyone it seems. They are fine but hardly out of this world. Brady is more than good enough to destroy it. I think it will be an embarrassment.

Why do you feel he's no longer top 2 ?

Who is supposed to be better?

You're not reading what I said properly. Yes, there were contract talks between Jimmy and the Pats. They didn't produce a positive conclusion. He got traded.
My point is that free agency is after the season ends. There would still be time to work out a contract with him before the free agency period starts like we saw with Malcolm Butler in the last offseason. So it wouldn't affect the salary cap at all for this current season but the one for next season. That's why he wasn't traded last offseason, he was being held onto this season so they could make a decision before free agency to keep with Brady or get rid and promote Jimmy with a new contract.

I'm not arguing about either of their abilities. Clearly Brady is better.
