Shame this couldn't have been the Super bowl. Probably the teams I'd want to see win it the most. Great game.

 What on earth was the defender doing??? The stupidity of that one play has lost his team the game.

Brees to retire after this?
Don’t think so. Not with a team that good. I think he’ll do about two more years. They have some brilliant talent on the team.
But he should get Pyton fired.

My only guess is he was arriving early and worried about getting a PI call. Not sure where that spot was on the field but may have set up a FG attempt on a defensive foul. Kinda no mans land I guess.

Or do you just take the man out there? Horrible for that man.

You pull up short and just tackle the guy

Not only does the defender completely miss the receiver, but he also tackles his teammate who might have had a chance to get back - utterly brilliant

Some one will put that to the Benny Hill music by tomorrow.

Is this on Payton though?

I feel like the Saints wasted his best years after the 09 win.
He was in charge of the horrible teams in the last years. He wasted Brees. This complete inability to create any sort of defense or any balance on offense is pure incompetence. In addition to wasting Brees, he’s just a horrible human being, who should have never been allowed back, on any field of sports.

Pretty easy to say from the couch. He's like two inches from the guy at full speed before the ball is there.

He overplayed the pass and put himself in a stupid situation then fell down to avoid a surefire PI, and took his teammate out. That guy should probably catch a flight to another state.

Edit: NFL Primetime has some former players trying to explain. They're lost for words. The one guy said he misplayed the pass then overshot his boundary (they were playing a boundary zone to keep a receiver from getting out of bounds).

Naaah what a finish. Diggs has some head on his shoulders to know that he can take it home once he makes the catch.

Sorry Brees, only room for one OAP in the Championship games.

Williams should be fine, he had good rookie season. Feel sorry for him though.

Brady has to win out, right? Losing to Jacksonville (Bortles!) or Minnesota (Keenum!!) or Philadelphia (Foles!!!) would be a massive setback for what he achieved last season. It's not like he'd be losing to a fellow top tier QB but would be losing to a top tier defense. It would be worse than losing to the Giants (twice) IMO.

Still the GOAT in my view but losing against this field would not be kind to the season he's had and his legacy. A sixth championship is practically in one hand.

Just popped in to say that defensive back on the last play for the Saints, was one of the stupidest, most idiotic things i've ever witnessed in sports.
That is all.

Best moment in a Viking’s history littered with disappointment.

I was watching the Vikings game down my local bar, the whole place erupted when Minnesota scored and I'm in Seahawks country
