Dolphins have agreed to terms with QB Sage Rosenfels with Chad Henne out for the season. Contracts being signed and finalized

Ummm ok.

Keyser if you're interested in how Aldon Smith's doing, here's a full blown breakdown of his play against the Eagles.

49ers vs. Eagles: Charting Aldon Smith's Snaps - Niners Nation

Thanks. I thought Smith, Kerrigan and Quinn were intriguing after my extensive draft ‘research’ (believing anything Mike Mayock says, Youtube videos and general muppetry). I cant remember a full game of yours being shown yet so have not got a chance to watch him properly. I have seen Washington play - Kerrigan looks good and has made a few splash plays on the other side of Orakpo. He seems like more of a strength and effort player though rather than having that first step quickness Smith and Quinn have reportedly shown. Despite his equally impressive raw combine numbers.

They tried to sign Garrard but from what was reported on ESPN, the Dolphins didn't meet his financial demands. Dude, you're not working at the moment, any amount of money is better than zero. And getting some game time as well.

There's been a distinct theme in our draft this year. They wanted to get a lot of athletic, coachable players regardless of how raw they are. Our rookie starting fullback was a DE last year. We have a lot of players that you would assume would take a few years to develop and that's okay because we have a lot of good veterans as well. Overall a lot of trust has been placed on the coaching staff to mold these rookies into effective players and so far Harbaugh's doing a much better job than Singletary ever did.

That's fairly common to change positions for fringe players trying to make a roster. The Cowboys did it with quite a few over the years. Danny White punted while being a backup/third string QB. Mark Tuinei was a DT his first season. HOFer Randy White played MLB and Special Teams his first two seasons the moved to DT and the rest is history. Robert Thomas was a backup LB and ST guy in 1998 then converted to FB the following year and had a decent career in the league. They also converted Charles Haley from OLB in 3-4 to a DE in the 4-3 after acquiring him from SF. Brock Marion was CB in college and converted to FS in the NFL, which is very common in the NFL as many drafted CBs lack the elite speed to play the position in the NFL. Darren Woodson was a LB in college and converted to SS in the NFL (and was the best in the 90s regardless of what anyone wants to claim about any other safety :)).

Sounds like SF is doing what Dallas did in 1989/1990 and a decade later. The difference being in 1989/1990 it was Jimmy running the show and a decade later you had the likes of Chan and Dave (gasp) calling the shots (well, actually Jerry was doing everything except coaching).

Right, but Bruce Miller wasn't a fringe player. Coaches said from day one that they were drafting him to play fullback. Though he did play FB in high school so it's not a huge reach, but I don't think he ever did in college.

But yeah it's not a new thing, but it just highlights the fact that the front office has an idea of what they want these players to be and they're going to trust the coaching staff to get them there rather than drafting players that are already somewhat polished. It kind of is one of the two age-old questions about the draft (along with need vs best player available).

The 'dream team' are having a nightmare, 7-0 down at the Bills & Vick's thrown 2 picks on 2 drives.

Handbags between a half dozen Panthers and a half dozen Saints a few moments ago. Smith taunted on his way to the end zone and was blasted by a Saints defender in the end zone which led to some serious face mask grabbing, shoving, hands to the head but no ejections.

What a play by the Texans! We need a gif on that play.

Watching the replay, the Raiders' defence was pretty shit.

3 picks now for Vick & Bills 21-7 up.

Stupid Panthers. Clock running down, Saints are not going to get the snap off for a last second FG but the Panthers called timeout. Why?

Saints get a chance and score.

During the confusion of the initial play, Graham was bumped by Gamble and he went down like what we see in world football. Took a dive attempting to draw a penalty. Terrible.

Carolina will probably finish with a losing record, but Cam Newton has made them interesting to watch again....Gone are the drab, anemic panthers.

Despite the multiple turnovers, the Eagles were managing a comeback, Vick was throwing the ball like a missile & they were moving forward for fun but then another red-zone turnover and the Bills should win.

The dream team are fecking idiots, Bills on 4 and 1 and everybody knew it was a fake-snap to draw the Eagles offside and they fell for it - game over, their own stupidity has cost them.

Eagles 1-4 & Bills 4-1  - don't think many people predicted that.

Hopefully the Pats will have the same record in a few hours but I think the Jets will win due to our terrible defense being unable to help Brady :(

Wow, what a crazy end to the Texans - Raiders game.
Guess that one was for Davis.

Pats leading 10-7 at HT but we should be further ahead.

The defense has done reasonably well but struggled on the Jets TD drive. Brady's taken some big hits already & he's not taking full advantage of the 4 punts the Jets have had to make, the penalties against us do not help although you have to credit the Jets defense.

Incredible stat: Brady threw his first ever redzone interception at home to end the half, 335 redzone passes in that time  Hernandez should have caught it for the TD :mad:

And we start the second half with a turnover at the 2 yard line :(

Edit: overturned on review, Brady throws a TD :D

Terrific win for the Pats, defense did a decent job & Green-Ellis was fantastic.

Similar stories for Vick and Brady, though the Bills have had lucky bounces.

Congrats on the huge win.

Thanks, man. You too.

Brady's Brady though. He'll be fine no matter what. Vick's still putting up huge numbers. Bucs will surely be patient with Freeman, but not as much as the Pats and Eagles will be with their QBs.

That said all around the Bucs sucked today. Making the same idiotic mistakes that were typical of the Niners the last god-knows-how-many seasons. It's nice to be on the other side this time laughing about it, but I can certainly feel a bit sorry for their fans.
