Looks like we'll lose today. I've been really impressed how well the Cowboys have handled Welker today, Brady's not been at his best as a result.

Good stop again, up to Brady now...

the D stepped up, now for the offense to do their part. I'm not too optimistic they can move the ball.

Pats in FG range, get the TD Tom!

fecking impossible to follow 3 games at 1 time on RedZone.

Brady TD!!

fecking Brady is clutch.

Pats win

Big win for the Pats, a game which we didn't look like winning at one stage but Brady got it done (as he usually does). Defense turned up for the second game in a row which is good to see.

Some tough games coming up for the Pats, need to keep the momentum going...

The bye week is coming at a good time to try and iron out some recurring mistakes. If we can get through the next 3 games 2-1 we can roll for the rest of the season.

So the Vikings are getting crushed at Soldier Field in the first half. Just as everyone is baying for Ponder, McNabb finally remembers he's the quarterback.

Jesus Christ. 3 down and short, they go for it at 3-23. False start like idiots, and then the kicker shanks the field goal. What an inept performance

Sack from Jared Allen to a fumble recovery. Good drive for a touchdown, and then we kick it to Devin Hester.. Good idea. 98 yard return for a touchdown. 33-10. fecking hell!

12th overall pick Christian Ponder getting his debut in the 4th. Good start! Got some yard on, but got blitzed by the Bears to a 4th down giveaway. Shame.

Hope the Vikes go for this guy now. Give him a start against the Packers, throw him in the deep end.

Raiders pick up Carson Palmer from the Bengals in exchange for 1st round pick in 2012 and a conditional pick in 2013, which if Palmer performs well, could also be a 1st rounder

Mental....almost an Al Davis sort of trade...hehe. As a result, Raiders now do not have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th round picks in 2012

That’s a lot to give up for someone who showed evidence of diminishing skills prior to quitting on his team. Then again, I would not want my teams playoff fate in the hands of Kyle Boller either. Excellent deal for the Bengals considering the circumstances, those picks could put them in a strong position to progress in the next couple of years. Andy Dalton, A.J Green, Carlos Dunlap and Jermaine Gresham seem like good picks so far so maybe they can add to that young core.

Ridiculous amount to give up by the Raiders for an aging quarterback who is likely past his best.

Al's ghost must be running the show in Oakland. Ridiculous compensation given up for him. Supposedly, the Bengals were holding out for a 2nd rd pick and the Raiders blew them away with their offer.

Here's the coach "fight."

And this one is funny.

I get that the Bengals have been very badly ran/coached at times, especially with their willingness to take on problem players. However, I’m not sure that their recent draft record has been that bad, its probably comparable to most teams in the league so the problem could lie elsewhere. If I’m wrong, correct me. The David Pollack draft a few years back wasn’t great but that went badly due to injury and off the field problems for the other linebacker they took (forgot his name). They seem to have got decent contributions from other players like Hall, Joseph, Whitworth, Maualuga etc though. Andre Smith has also stayed healthy so far this season and may be turning the corner, as long as he doesn’t take his shirt off again, I’m good.

The Bengals have done some decent stuff in recent drafts: Shipley, Gresham, Dalton, Green on one side and Dunlop, Mauluga etc on the other.

Could be a real force soon.

Cant believe what the Raiders have given up for a 32yr old QB that went on strike..
He could certainly do a job, but at that price i just dont get it. If anyone can get something out of him its Hugh Jackson though.

I think we will be getting some compensatory draft picks this year though, having lost Namdi and Miller.

The Raiders: one step forward, two steps back

In the wake of his second concussion of the 2011 season, people close to Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best are asking him to consider sitting out the remainder of the year, Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reports.

That's not great news for Lions fans.

Isn't it close to the same as what the Bills paid for Drew Bledsoe? I do agree that it's too much, but I suppose the draft is a crap shoot so it's not always a bad idea to give up a pick for a proven player. The age isn't as big a deal to me since the Raiders do seem to get some life out of the older quarterbacks sometimes.

Rio Ferdinand to join US side

Rio Ferdinand will captain the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley on Sunday – three hours after playing in the Manchester derby.

United owner Malcolm Glazer, who also holds a majority stake in the Buccaneers, will fly England defender Ferdinand from Old Trafford to the NFL date with the Chicago Bears by private helicopter.

Ferdinand will land in London in time to take part in the coin toss as the Buccaneers’ honorary captain - although he will be sat safely in the crowd when the sacking starts.

It is not known whether Glazer and his sons will be at the seismic derby with United's noisy neighbours, which kicks off at 1.30pm, or the American football showpiece or both.

An NFL spokesman said: “We cannot reveal the travel plans of franchise owners.”

Ferdinand, also an avid follower of NBA basketball, is expected to be airborne within minutes of final whistle against Manchester City to complete a unique sporting double bill.

The defender revealed his plans to play for United and skipper the Buccaneers on Twitter, saying: “After the derby (going for the win) on Sunday, I’m going to Wembley to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs the Chicago Bears... love me some NFL”

fecking idiot.

Yeah i suppose people place an unrealistically high value on draft picks. Theres an article on NFL.com about the Cutler trade. Although the Broncos got a bevy of picks, they ended up with a load of shite whilst the Bears got a talented (although divisive) QB.

NFL.com news: To stop complicated offenses, Bengals have simple solution

"The deal sent Cutler and a fifth-round pick to Chicago for two first-round picks (2009, 2010), a third-round pick and Kyle Orton. The fifth-round pick for the Bears wound up being Johnny Knox. The first of Denver's 1s in the deal became Robert Ayers. Denver packaged the third-round pick, which became Mike Wallace (oops), to Pittsburgh to get back in the second-round and select TE Richard Quinn (double oops). The second 1 is harder to trace, because of a slew of trades, but the club wound up taking Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas late in the first round of that draft. So in the final analysis, to this point, the most productive of the above draft picks has been, interestingly enough, the throw-in fifth-rounder Knox, and the Broncos were left with a bunch of What-ifs and a benched veteran QB, which isn't exactly the haul they were expecting."

Well we also make fun of you guys all the time for the way you throw around draft picks, but you've still managed to put together a pretty decent team. A first rounder on Janikowski is the most notable one, but then again you haven't had to worry about that position since you drafted him. I suppose "wasting" a first round pick on a kicker who will be on your team for 20 years is much better than using it on a guy like Jamarcus Russell.

Essentially all picks are a risk. Snagging a veteran in the NFL is a risk too because sometimes players play differently when they swap teams, but at least you know they're capable of playing and thinking at an NFL level, so it's less of a risk IMO. So generally if I can make a trade to get a good NFL talent, I have no problem giving up a draft pick. Even a high one.

What about two high ones?!

We havent done that well with our high picks recently, so perhaps we are better off without. Still seems like an all out shot at winning short term, long term be dammned. We also gave up a lot to get Deangelo Hall i seem to remember.

Anyway, 9ers cant be giving anyone lectures about 1st overall QBs!!

feck you, our QB's still on the team and wasn't arrested for purple drank. He took a paycut too so we didn't even have to pay him a huge chunk of that massive contract.

Two high picks is a lot, but you guys will make the playoffs this year so they won't be super high. Either way it's not like Palmer was a bust and he's a smart player so I think you guys will be fine.

Dont pretend ** glad to have Alex Smith... ;)
