Nfl 2008-2009

Well Adam Jones was apparently involved in yet another off-field incident though nothing official has been released by the club, PD or NFL yet. And this on top of news that Newman will require hernia surgery and will miss 6 weeks minimum. Great... the club's best defensive back out for an undetermined time. Just when the secondary is playing shit. Jerry better find a decent veteran before the trade deadline.

This surprises me as he has been such an upstanding citizen for all of these years. I can only imagine his college years when Pacman was joined by Chris Henry at West Virginia.

The cops probably followed them around all day and just waited for them to do something even a little bit fishy. "Well, well. It looks like your shirt isn't tucked in. We'll have to take you down to county for that."

I think Henry was too busy impregnating anything that moved too get into too much trouble.

I dont think he will ever be an every down back

Reggie is very talented and incredibly athletic. Seeing him try to outrun the opposing defense when he could get more yards running vertically is frustrating. He's gotten better at running between the tackles, but I doubt he will ever be a traditional running back. He will always be most effective when he gets into space in the flat.

It is looking that way but im not too sure yet. There are some examples of runners who had problems the first few years and then started to get it, I can think of Tiki Barber or maybe Brian Westbrook that are a similar size off the top of my head. I thought I had noticed him running inside initially and then trying to cut outside once he has got past the line more this year. Though obviously GLU will know more about this than me.

Rumors circulating that Philly might be after Larry Johnson, Dallas might go after TJ Houshmanzadeh or Roy Williams...

When now? Larry Johnson would take a lot to get, receivers are a dime a dozen

I doubt any of them will happen, but I would love to see some of them happen. I am still surprised no one has at least added Shaun Alexander, granted he was horrible the last two years. I just thought he would have ended up somewhere by now, I mean Cedric Benson found a team and Alexander seems like a much better teammate and citizen.

I would say running backs are a dime a dozen and rather have a good receiver. This might be because I support Chicago and we have shitty receivers though.

Reggie has definitely gotten better at running between the tackles, but he's still a bit inconsistent when he does. He has vastly improved his ability to read his blocking. He used to simply wait for one block and then try to outrun the rest of the defence. Now he's more patient and lets the play develop, but he still tends to bail a bit early when slowing down would let him get a few more yards. He also seems not to like contact. In his three years as a Saint, he has, at most, run over 4 or 5 defenders. I've also noticed this on little plays where the defenders force him out of bounds, he usually just jogs out, whereas a lot of rbs (including our main rb Deuce mcallister) would run right at the defenders just to be a hardass and fire up the crowd. This isn't really a criticism, but it seems like he just isn't a smash-mouth type player.

My NFL Wembley tickets arrived today.

For a day, I am a Saints fan.

COME ON THE S!

Wise decision, sir. If you watched the game without any rooting interest, you would would probably end up liking the saints because of their attacking style of offense. Hopefully it doesn't rain this time, and you guys get to see an entertaining game of football.

My feck just got NFL Sunday Ticket $289 my feck Im not hurting for money but that seems a bit much considering its week 6, ehh what the hell it's only money

Can't believe the Dolphins lost that, not impressed. Wildcat formation though is the shit.

Yep, that's a pretty tough way to lose a game, after getting it to overtime as well.

A kick-off return to begin the game and a blocked punt to end it.

Pats are embarresing to watch. Nothing on my spelling, but it is 2am here, so at least I have an excuse. Have a job interview in 7 hours, but I normally love watching the Pats. But tonight.. jeez so far.

well, this season is ending up pretty much a write off. But at least it is showing up the weaknesses that were being papered over by a great offense last season. Some major retooling on the defense is needed. I`d look at another option at RB too as Maroney just doesn`t seem to be consistent or durable enough.

I like maroney, he seems to play well when he is needed. Understand what you mean by durability though.

I just think we have run out of ways to use Moss effectively, or defenses are just stepping up their game against him. But I really am an NFL novice, so I might be totally wrong.

Cassell underthrew Moss badly in the 1st qtr. Just throw it way out there - if someone does get it, it will be Moss if not it`s just an incompletion.

Injuries piling up for the PAts though - Green, Hobbs, Kuszac(whatever) all in the locker room. Yeah, it`s a squad game but you can`t just keep on plugging in backups and expect to continue winning. Let`s try and get some good draft picks and come back next year.

I had a dream Brady returned, won the last 3 games, and then went on to win the Superbowl. Then I woke up feeling gutted.

Hold on, that wasn't a catch by Moss? Looks like he had control and then it was hit out of his hands and then went OB. Agh, so many rules!

He has been taking a lot of stick in the media recently. I like him and he has showed flashes like in the playoff's last year, its just durability as you say. It's made to look even worse when his former running mate at Minnesota, Marion Barber is playing so well at this level.

As for the season im not ready to pack it in yet, it's still been enjoyable in parts. If it goes down the shitter at least we will have a better shot at getting Maualuga from USC though I suppose... :(

Is that a swear?

We get no college coverage over here, not even our own Higher Education sports. (I can send you my dissertation on why HE sport in US >>>> HE sport in england).

But keep me in the know. When I hear alot about a player, I tend to youtube him and the sort.

That sucks college football is unreal, top quality

yeah, it`s ok for Seymour to say that now - they could win games with defence before Brady was Brady - but he(and the whole defence) needs to step up

I'm from England as well, Manchester. I have just watched quite a few of the college games over the last couple of years on the internet and stuff because i'm slightly obsessed. He is probably the best linebacker in the upcoming draft from what I have seen, a big hitter as well. Will most likely be gone in the top ten though I think.
