Nfl 2008-2009

Marshall, come on there are about 100 teams I would rather watch than Marshall, and I mean 100

Hey!!! I'm a proud Marshall Alumnus!!!!! I know our football team has sucked since Pennington left, but we're finally starting to turn our program around after we lost some scholarships for 3 seasons!!

And the tailgates are fecking fantastic! On gameday you can walk all over town with open containers and no one gives a shit. Most of the time the cops are drinking too.

Busy day for Dallas. Pacman suspended for at least four games, maybe more and a trade for Roy Williams.

A first, third, sixth and a seventh the next year looks slightly steep. Could end up being worth it though.

Dallas gave up a first, third and sixth and received a seventh from Detroit, so seeing where Detroit will most likely draft that seventh is not far down from where Dallas would pick in the sixth (prob 10-20 slots). Dallas has multiple third and fourth round picks in 2009 so it was summed up that Jerry offered the third to ensure the deal was completed. There is talk that Jerry will give Roy a huge contract soon putting him in the top 3-5 paid WRs. And it's said that TO was happy as he knows this will 1) open up the field for him as opposing Ds will have to be aware of Roy W (and Crayton as legit #3) play-making potential and 2) gives the Boys a boost for the SB run, should they make it to the post-season. What I like about this deal outside of opening up more field for TO, Witten and Crayton as well as the running game is that Roy is 27, Witten is 27 and Romo is 27. That gives Dallas three main players in their prime that can play together for a few years.

The thing on Jones... by him getting suspended Dallas does not have to trade a sixth round pick in 2009 to Tennessee and instead will now receive Tennessee's fifth round pick in 2009. This is basically how the trade ends up now: Jones and a 5th in 2009 for Dallas' 4th in 2008. I don't expect Jones to suit up for Dallas again. I believe his NFL career is over. Jerry relieved the four man bodyguard squad which sources say points to the likeliness of Jones being released or placed on the suspended list even if reinstated by the NFL. But only time will tell.

Says the fan of the club with the most arrogant coach, a club that called passing plays up thirty plus on bad clubs last season, a club that was caught cheating and fined. Quite rich. Much like the Red Sox in the shadows of the Yankees, the Patriots will always be second best to Dallas in history and winning. Jealousy breeds hatred. ;)

I hate the pats and tom brady with a passion. I repect billichek because he is, quite simply, a complete hardass. The guy doesn't dick around; he does whatever it takes to win. I've liked randy moss since back in his days with randall cunningham and cris carter playing for the vikings. The guy is a phenomenal receiver.

He fecking cheats, it's no different that a player taking steroids. I fecking love that one of his prodigies is who called him on it too, you gotta respect Mangini he was in the Sopranos

Of course. The same as ALL United fans and ALL Chelsea fans.

Yeah, looks good on paper, im not so sure T.O will hold up on his end of the bargain though, time will tell. Dallas are talented and have now fixed one of their few problem areas, with the league the way it is whoever gets hot in December is going to win as there are no elite teams at the moment. If they can stay competitive until the injuries clear up they will have a better chance than most. The thing is I just can not see it happening in the playoff's with Wade Phillips at the helm. His lacksadaisacal approach is all well and good in the regular season but the way I see it the personality of a coach reflects directly on his team, I think something more is needed for when Romo is struggling or in the playoff's etc. Does not help that Jones gave his likely successor a huge contract.

Does Garrett call the offensive plays as well as being the assistant by the way? Obviously you will know more about this than me but why do the majority of the pass plays seem to be long developing routes. It seems Dallas are always going for the big play and get frustrated when it does not come off. What's wrong with using Felix Jones etc on a few dump offs even, look what Barber did with one the other day.

As for the cheating stuff, Belichick continued to do it after being warned by the league because he thought he could get away with it on a technicality. He was caught and the Pats were rightly fined. Without going into it all for the millionth time in terms of what impact having some of the signals had, you guys still think it was not going on elsewhere? I would bet that everyone on the Parcell’s tree knew about it and has carried out something similar, even Belichick’s good friend and mentor Jimmy Johnson knew it was going on. Look at their responses when they were asked about the spygate stuff. My guess is if Goodell would have known the can of worms he was opening beforehand and how long it would have gone on he would have made it a lower key thing from the beginning. Instead of trying to make a name for himself.

There are similar black marks on many successful teams such as the Steelers taking Steroids or even the Bronco's salary cap issues.

Q: Did you ever steal signals?

JJ: Oh in a heartbeat, yeah. Yes I did.

Thank you. The entire point of gameplanning is to gain an advantage over your opponents. I don't give a shit if coaches steal signals. Most coaching staffs change their hand signals from week to week anyway so it usually doesn't make a difference anyway. Say what you want about belichik, he's a great coach who does what it takes. Last year the media took shots at the pats every chance they got after the spygate "controversy", so the belichik responded by running up the score whenever he could, essentially telling the league and the media to feck off. I hate the pats in general, but I can't help but like belichik.

Belichick’s good friend and mentor Jimmy Johnson knew it was going on. Huh? Johnson never mentored Belichick.

Stealing signals from the sidelines with the personal eye or a coach happens alot and is not illegal; if you can't hide your signals and formations from the personal eye then you deserve to have them stolen. Using a camera to tape the signals and formations is illegal. It probably has been done before but which club was caught?

Garrett is the Offensive Coordinator and he calls the offensive plays. Romo has authority to call audibles at the line when he reads the defensive formations. It has been said Romo calls too many audibles and this gets the offense out of rhythm at times. The fans are complaining to no end why Felix is getting zero to a few touches on offense per game. The man scored a touchdown in his first four games - a feat no Dallas rookie ever achieved prior to this season (no rookie had done it for three games either but he went one better).

I`m a Red Sox fan and have been since I started following the sport in 1986. I have no love for the Patriots though, in fact the only team(s) I follow are the ones I back pre-season for the Super Bowl. This year my choice are the Steelers.

I`ve never understood the hard time the Pats got for this when sign stealing in Baseball is seen as part and parcel of the game. Hypocrisy me thinks.

When I said mentor, I did not mean in a Parcell's - Belichick way, probably the wrong word. He has just said things in the past on how he helped him a lot as a coach over the years, was a big influence and obviously they get along.

Well, we know nobody else has been pulled up on it and Johnson does also talk about the use of a camera there. The fact that the league had sent letters to all the club's several times over the years before the whole thing exploded and were even forced to change the rules so they were clearer indicates they thought it was a league wide issue. I'm also one who does not think it is that huge a thing with the signal's constantly changing and coaches knowing it was happening etc.

However, that does not mean I was accepting of all that what went on, I was just trying to put it into context a bit. Belichick thinking he could get away with it even after everyone was made aware of it again due to a recording and using them in the same game technicality in the rule was arrogant and stupid. The team was rightly fined, whether it should have been that harsh and Goodell trying to make a statement which kind of backfired was correct is a different issue. Im not sure if I would want to change that overall mentality though, coaches like him, Johnson, Parcells etc would sell their own mother to gain a slight competitive advantage. That is what makes them good.

However, if a scout, player or employee of a club is sitting in outfield bleachers or bullpen or wherever using binoculars or a camera and relaying signals to the manager that would be illegal in much the same way as an employee taping football signals.

Because they won 3 Superbowls while they were doing; it was against the rules, it gave them an advantage that others didnt and they used it, and got caught

Maybe he means their division, regardless if they did we all know what would happen in the Superbowl if they made it

Dallas is currently getting beat by the Rams 21-7 hahaha

Have been watching Vikings - Bears, pretty good game so far.

Adrian Peterson is having a big day against their defense, once again.

Just saw DeMarcus Ware is having a big game for Dallas as well. A sack in ten straight games apparently.

Bye bye Wade Phillips. You're a lame duck now. Shit performance. Brad Johnson should never play in a game again. Start Bollinger next week though we all know who the real coach/CEO/GM/uber spastic is in Dallas which means Romo will probably be forced to play. The secondary is in shambles. Jones suspension with Newman's injury exposed them. The OL was supposed to be this big bad great line but looks quite shit now. I'm throwing in the towel now. Season is lost.

San Diego has been a weird team this year, Buffalo looks good though

I shake my head at my 49ers. We're an absolutely magnificent third quarter team. We always fall behind early and then make several awesome plays in the third quarter to either make the game close or take the lead.

And then JT O'Sullivan starts fumbling and throwing interceptions, the defense gets tired, the world starts crumbling, and we chalk up another tally in the loss column.

You do realize this has been on-going in the Bay Area for about a decade now. ;)

Yeah they have been shit since Steve Young retired; it's not like Dallas has won anything in past decade though :p
