This would be like someone moving from Beverly Hills to Detroit.

I'm American so I'm struggling to think of a UK equivalent.

We should stop the discussion here and first determine whether he can do it on a cold night against Stoke

This would be the mother of all transfers.
I think he is on par with Messi in terms of current value. If we pulled this one off Ed Woodward deserves a blow job from every United fan out there.

After seeing Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger in a united shirt I've come to terms with muppet signings.

I'd be inclined to think this is more than likely a load of rubbish but it would explain why Woody was in Barcelona last week before the Pedro deal collapsed. There's just no way though that we would smash the record transfer fee by that amount, I think we are more likely to see a deal done for a top player at £100m first before we go way over that. United do have the money but there's no chance Barca would allow him to leave without getting in a replacement this window.

This is silly beyond reason.

Globo is more like Sky than the BBC. They are by far the largest media group in Brazil, have a traditional newspaper, largest TV channel and website.

This has run on their website only, in the sports section. Two days ago they spoke to one of Neymar's agents (he sort of has more than one, confusing) after the Sun story and he denied. Now they're run this alleged bid themselves.

Sometimes they headline stories from European papers saying that "Club has bid for X player" but always callout and link the source in the beginning of the article. Also, none of Brazil's other sports website have even mentioned. And when there's any relevant news on Neymar they all usually report.

Seems like they've started the new contract pressure early this time.

If this is accurate (I trust it is) than there's even less chance of this happening.

Don't quote me on it mate!

Wrong. Neither us nor Bayern payed more than the release clause for Herrera/Martinez. There are way around not paying taxes although it isn't straightforward and what worked for Bilbao doesn't necessarily work for Barca.

I'm sure there is a way round this to not pay the tax? I don't think we paid it with Herrera.

I'm sure there must be but it may take time, as in the Hererra transfer. Even without tax, the added VAT makes it £164m (+ £50m wages?). That's just a ridiculous fee.

Wont believe this rumour until someone in this thread types out a team formation with Neymar in it.

The fee is actually a bargain. He's potentially the best player in the world and the most marketable. . its just laughable though. We have not been able to get Ramos and we are going after Neymar.. remember today as the day Transfer rumours peaked.

It should be pointed out that we didn't offer what Madrid wanted. If we had? It might be a different story. If we REALLY wanted him, then we should have paid the money but I think it was more a tactic to get more for De Gea. Ramos signing a new contract don't mean that much. After all, this is a guy who don't even mean what he's saying - so his 'pride' can be bought. Makes no difference to us.

I think this is a bad Chinese whisper. Someone's interviewed Ferries and asked him if we are making any more signings and he has replied 'neigh more'

If it is about big contract, I think it is high time a club like Barca with their 'mes que un club' and all take a firm stand, tell Neymar to feck off and sell him to us at 1/3rd his release clause. That will teach him and all similar twats.

Romero
Valencia Jones Evans Rojo
Carrick Schneiderlin
Mata Neymar Young
Rooney

Spot the odd one out

Isn't he the most marketable player in the world these days?

Anyway I know this is no time for the question but he always plays from the left which is where Memphis plays, so where would be play him? :wenger:

or united fan to a chelsea fan.

What a load of shite.

Barca have just sold Pedro, they have a transfer ban and their squad is already woefully thin.

They are not selling.

Im so fed up about people care about what other fans think about us. If they laugh of us, who the hell care. We are probably the most famous club in the world, media will write a lot about us, people will have a opinion about us and they will laugh sometimes.

I don't think they have a choice if Neymar deposited the 137m himself. Think back to the Herrera deal, we offered them the buy-out, they refused, but then we worked around that by getting Herrera to deposit the buy-out. I think offering the buy-out to the club is just out of respect tbh, but the transfer hinges on Neymar and there is no way I can seem him moving.

Yup, I too never understood why people care about what other club's fans say. They used to find excuses in Fergie era too...hardly matters what they think.

There is no Vat, just taxes that can vary from 20-44%. And there seems to be a way around it.

They can refuse to take the money.

I can't believe we are signing Neymar! I'm going to change my background picture on MySpace to Neymar, then I'm signing him on Fifa.

Double? Bale went for 100mil right? It's a 40% hike on that which is absolutely normal seeing as he's the much better player and the fees are going up every year.
Exchange rates stuffing me about. Didn't Bale go for €100m and this bid is reported at around €180m for Neymar? Which is almost double. But I speak under correction.
