Neymar's don't grow on tree's. This is something of a one-off and not the norm. City will spend big, we will spend big. They will get some of their targets, we will get some of ours. Water is also wet.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the next season City bid 200m+ for Mbappe.

Probably, they paid his dad a fortune too I believe. But It's fine when they do it
They've been romanticized and put on a ridiculous pedestal the last decade.

They're a mess of a club in reality, their recruitment as of late has been very poor.. When Messi retires I predict quite a downfall.

Neymar is one of the best players of his generation. He is not even an all time great player or anything. Basically a Kaka level of a player. He's not even reached Kaka's peak level of play yet. There can be even better talents than Neymar.

Mess que un club?

Why is he not going yet? He has burnt all his bridges with the fans, so he has no choice but to go now. He'd better hope PSG comes up with 222m soon because Barca fans from Catalonia are different from the ones in USA. Just go already.
What did he do to burn all his bridges? By merely asking a transfer to a foreign club?

That's fine by me. Not an area they are really struggling with. I'd be more concerned if their scouting improved and they concerned themselves with a long term project and found some good defenders, a good goalie and another top midfielder.

The bubble will burst soon enough but as others are said there's so much money in England and our finances mean that while we may not spend Neymar money, we should be fine in assembling a good overall squad.

The difference is that there is more money in football today, the figures are shocking but that's due to the growth of football in the last 30 years. Otherwise when local businessmen put the equivalent of 200k in United in the 30s, we are talking about huge amounts of money too, of course it was in order to save the club from bankruptcy but that's still a huge amount of money for the time.

As for the fees, you can say the same thing about pretty much all the world record registered between late 90s and mid 2000s, remember that there is far more money in football today than 10 years ago. Zidane went for a 10th of United, the biggest club in the world, he went for more than a club like Marseille was sold last year. Messi can buy half of Ligue 1 clubs with his annual wage without bonuses.
Fair play, but we are seeing is basically a doubling of prices in a single season. I can't say I've seen anything like this. Think about it like this, if Lukaku went for 45 mil, Matic 25, Neymar 110, Mbappe 90, Walker 26, we'd all be thinking that's understandable. It's doubled, in a season. You're right football has moved on, but to me it's extraordinary. Pogba looks like a bargain now. That was 1 year ago.

Nah, I'm happy if Neymar leaves to stick it to Barca but he's done the dirty on them here. He and his dad got insane money when they fecked Santos over, then held them ro ransom over a new deal, got another fat signing fee and insane wages and he's crying again.

Scumbag move. Had that happened to say, even Arsenal I'd be livid but I'll have a good chuckle at Barca after all they have done.

By not making his case clear and allowing the club to recover in time before the seasons begin. Want to move, bloody say it and go. Nobody is keeping him by force. He has reportedly got into an altercation with Barca fans on the airport already and banners with his face and dollar signs have been posted around Camp Nou.

Shady transfer dealings. Barca more so, but Madrid are not innocent. They love a good tap-up.
and United are not innocent either. You acted against Athletic with Ander Herrera. When Cris was sad Woodward met with him in Singapur.
About the shady transfers I agree with Neymar/Santos/Rosell, although the player rights in Brasil are usually shared by several parts what makes the things more complicated

Remember the fabregas saga? This holier than thou bs from barca is really funny.

Fabregas was a Barca youth player. When English clubs attract players from La Masia, they'd better know that one day that player would maybe want to come back home. A La Masia player wanted to play again with his teammates from his youth days. You're comparing that with Neymargate?

But TV deals in england have almost doubled too, if I'm not mistaken. Keep in mind that the crazy fees only exist in/for the UK, we have the same fees on the continent at the exception of the rumor concerning Mbappé and his fee is linked to the profile on the clubs after him.

I actually have a newfound respect for PSG that I never thought I'd have. Considering Barca's tapping up of Verratti, to actually go through with this Neymar pursuit is commendable as they're fighting the norm. Barcelona went from looking like they were about to feck over PSG and seemlessly replace Xavi, to absoloutley shitting the bed and potentially going from Neymar to Coutinho

I'm not mad at the crazy oil money spending, money doesnt gurantee success. I'd rather not adopt an American style cap because I don't want to live in a world where Manchester United can only sign players on a level financial playing field with fecking Sunderland etc

Why? He's asking for a better wage, and also will be the main man. We all do, given the chance. Neymar has done his best during his stay, and has been contributing trophies after trophies to Barcelona. If he moves, Barca would also be compensated at the best price.

They can just hold him, if they want to, because Neymar is still under contract.

Lukaku has been a consistent top scorer in the Premier League, I'd class him in the top echelon.

Torres with a similar goal record sells for 50 million in 2011. With the new TV deals 75 million is about what you'd pay for a top PL striker. Kane is not going to sell for 50 million while on a long contract.

Yes? How does any of that give barca the right to tap fabregas up, have his international teammates force a shirt on him. Not to mention all the other shit that went on at that time.

Neymar wants to play with his brazilian teammates, you are comparing that to the tapping on and antics that barca did while signing fabregas? If anything, PSG has behaved in a classier manner.

Nah, that isn't the reason, we just think your club and the fans are unbearable, that is all.

Also you are plenty happy to play dirty when you go after other clubs players, about time the same happened to you.

"Mes que un club" my ass.
I'm certainly not going to sing praises of Barcelona, but as a United fan, I can certainly respect that clubs like United, Barca, Madrid, Munich, Arsenal and even bloody Liverpool are where we are because of success and history. City and PSG are not. He's right and it's that simple.

They can't. He has a clause. I just think he's shown a total lack of respect for Barca and I get it he's his own man, but the figures in signing on fee's and wages are hardly slave wages. He's squeezed Barca dry and shown them no loyalty in return.

It's worse. Barca didn't even try to talk to Arsenal, they went behind Arsenal's back and had players and the media do the dirty work to unsettle him further. When La Masia players leave they know they are potentially signing for clubs that don't need to sell.

So, what is your problem then? Barcelona is getting €222million for that kind of player and you're still a far attractive club to have an advantage over future talents with more than enough money to burn.

You're acting like it's some kind of football apocalypse on the horizon.

Football fans are generally known for having short memories and being ungrateful.

The case of Paolo Maldini is particularly shocking

A case is clear when a deal is officially confirmed and signed.

No signing means he hasn't to comment in order to please the press (and their customers) and endanger his plans...

Everybody talks with players while they're on contract with some other team. Neymar can go if the buyout is paid. Who has a problem with that? My problem is that PSG is generating their revenue through fake sponsorship contracts with Qatar. They are basically owned by an oil state. That can't happen.

Wasn't Barca punished for hiding money in Neymar I? Now PSG need to be punished for generating their revenue to escape FFP with fake sponsorship contracts. Simple as that. If I own two companies, one that is producing pencils, and one that is doing something else, how can I transfer money between them? I sell to myself 100 10$ pencils at the price of 1000$ a piece.

Fair, but across the board prices seem to have doubled. Even the prices in the Championship and some other leagues, which TV income most certainly haven't doubled, are inflated. It's a paradigm shift, IMO.

Maybe, and maybe that's not a bad idea, but what's to stop the likes Abu Dhabi buying a club in the new competition.

The owners of the new league. Look at the NFL - a closed league where all the clubs cooperate to make a profit (salary caps, limits on where clubs locate). The existing clubs get to vote on changes in ownership and admitting new teams. They'd have no interest letting someone join in who doesn't care about making a profit and is willing to burn through cash to dominate the league.
FFP was part of UEFAs efforts to keep the traditional big clubs within the existing structure and help them stay dominant while making a profit. If FFP turns out to be worthless the traditional big clubs could look at ways to breakaway.

Everyone does this? Like I said couldnt be happening to a better team.

Yeah, that counts for feckall.

PSG and City could still have all the best players in whatever they'd come up with.

Not to say I'd not like to see it happen, mind.

Yeah, that counts for feckall.

See the absolute change in argument in his next post.

Fair play. I think Ed has done quite well navigating the waters, to be honest. Credit to him.

Ok. So that's the price that Barca were comfortable of letting him go then.

See the absolute change in argument in his next post.

That's because there are more arguments, not just one. It's easy to see the differences between what happened with Fabregas and this Neymar situation. There are so many of them.

Purely a coincidence that Madrid and Barca, the two most successful clubs of the last decades are the most hated here. I find that hard to believe.
I don't hate Madrid anywhere near as much as Barca. :D
