Neymar joins PSG on a five year deal

I just hope we are waiting for Neymar to make himself available because if we don't go in for him then I just don't understand where we are going.

He appears to be the best player in the world that seems to be available.

This is a player who has intentionally gotten himself sent off (multiple times) so he could attend his sister's birthday party and who has very little interest in playing defense or doing much other than being a Global Football Superstar.

You think he wants to play for Jose Mourinho?

We can't afford him. It's as simple as that.

Fixed for you.

Why isn't PSG looking for a hugging-the-line hardworker winger type?

Because

- a hugging-the-line hardworker winger type don't score a lot contrary to players like Cr7, Neymar
- nowadays, this profile is rare, mainly because some tactical systems like the 4-4-2 are old-fashioned. Who are the contemporary Matthews and Garrincha?

Haha.. I was just being sarcastic.

Do you really think Jose does not want a player here who is amongst the top 5 players in the world?? That too someone who is just 25. If he( or any manager) doesn't want to sign him when he's available then they're crazy. We can't afford him that's a different story. But to think Jose wouldn't want him here is madness.

Is Neymar ready to move to ligue 1 and tarnish his potential filling Messi shoes dream.

The person @Powderfinger describes is the antithesis of a Mourinho player and then asks if that player wants to play for Mourinho rather than the other way round. I'm sure Mourinho would love to get his hands on a talent like Neymar and could even make him track back.

Are there videos of these sending off incidents? I'd love to see them.

I don't know about hardworking but Neymar has been hugging the line a lot for Barca, probably too much for his own good (and his stats).

Mourinho has managed the likes of Hazard, Ronaldo and Sneijder before who didn't do much tracking back and he's still won trophies with them. I don't think Jose would make him track back too much. There is a tactical advantage of having an offensive talent like Neymar stay up front as his marker will always be wary of joining the attack and leaving him too much space.

As for that sister thing well it's weird that's all I'll say about it. But anyway all these points are moot since he's not coming here.

He's the only player that I can think of is worth 200+m.

We don't have the money to buy him, so continue waiting.

Last season also there was lot of noise about this isn't it?

No, we don't. Unless we get a loan, there is no way that we can pay 200m upfront for a player.

We certainly can. Mr Woodward is now probably working 24/7 on some huge sponsorship project dedicated specifically to Neymar - such new sponsor may potentially provide required cash in order to finance such an acquisition. And finding sponsors is probably the strongest skill of Woodward, so it is definitely a possibility, and a very clear one.

There is no club in the world more attractive for sponsors than Man Utd, and if Neymar comes, the number of supporters will skyrocket, especially in Latin America - there is huge commercial value embedded in this transaction.

Yes, and to add to this: we have not forgotten about the words Mr Woodward has said quite recently - something along the lines of "we are actually capable of financing such transfers other clubs couldn't even dream about". Time has come to prove it

I can see why he thinks that he will be forever under Messi's shadows while the two are playing at Barca. Plus after Messi retires, Neymar will still be compared to Messi in a lot of ways (with all the "Messi would've buried it" comparisons). The only shot he has at Ballon D'or or whatever else is by being the main man in a team that wins or is consistently one of the top teams in club football (think United, Chelsea, Bayern etc.,).

Psg at ligue 1?

I agree he's the most valuable player on the market, although there's also a case to be made for Messi if you think he still has 4 or 5 good years in him.

Well to be fair i didn't exactly claim it was a poor league thats not what i'm saying, but in relation to the quality of Spain or England then yes it is a poorer league.
No but in the end yes, ok, I did not said it was better than England or Spain, but it is not a pub league, like many times is said in this forum, if 1 person didn't watched the matches reading some posts here you would think there are only flying monkeys playing there and probably not much better than Scotland.
All or most of Frances top players play outside of Ligue 1, outside of PSG no teams in france are capable of holding onto their top players.
If 1 thinks like that I could counter argument that outside of the Champions League bubble there is no football to watch because there are no elite clubs, so is pointless to watch anything other than Real, Barcelona or Bayern.
I'm not a PL 'fanboy' either, and its poor to throw around terms like arrogant or a 'fanboy' mate honestly.
Sorry but it was a expression to general EPL fanboys, not exactly you, I would not say you are arrogant without knowing you.

It's only the sense I find EPL or Barcelona fanboys annoying when you discuss something related to football, for ones everything that does not involve money and buying new toys is shit, and for the others football is only played in 1 way and the rest is shit.
Surely you are capable of conversing with people in a more polite manner?
Of course I am, just don't expect me to say what the majority says, I always like to go against the general opinion, and chalenge the so caled general consensus regarding football, as if there is only 1 way to be played or everything that does not involve millions or media hype does not deserve to be watched.

Cant even deal with this right now. Imagine what it will do to the market if it goes through..... Pogba will be a bargain.

Glazers are not going to spend £200m on a player. But I can't really blame them for that. I don't see Roman or Sheikh at City lining up after PSG.

And they are right. We've seen many crazy deals but a quarter of a billion (not including other fees or salary) is just beyond crazy. Football has gone mad
