Neymar Da Silva

I don't remember that incident myself, but if he "assaulted Ronnie" then he probably got the red card for the, y'know, assault.

I've got family in South America and follow South American football a bit (admittedly, more the Argentine side of things), and it seems that the consensus on Neymar is that he's unfathomably talented but he also gets so much protection from the Brazilian FA and refs. It's basically a guaranteed foul if you even touch him, and he'll make sure that he goes down to earn the freekick even it's a fair tackle.

But the tackle wasn't half as bad as the tackle on Ronaldo. The way Neymar fell made it look worse than it actually did. Like people have said, Neymar gets too much protection from the refs.

I know, I never said it was. I just posted the video. I said about 5 posts back that Neymar gets ridiculous levels of protection.

Neymar, from what I've seen is a fantastic young player, but he's also hyped well beyond his abilities. Much likes Robinho was about 6-7 years ago, and Denilson was a few years before that. You just never know whether some of these players will live up to it.

Wow his skills are exceptional, a great shame that it's almost out of the question for him to join United.

To be fair to Robinho, the bag of tricks aside, he actually is a very intelligent footballer. I know Neymar's still young, but he plays like he's a one man team, not the kind of player you would expect to suceed at top level.

That just tells everybody how you've clearly not seen him much.

He is a very good team player, but yes he has that individual ability too.

Go watch brazil v Mexico from yesterday and tell me how he is greedy

Better yet, watch Brazil v Mexico and see how far away from being one of the best footballers in the world he is. I do agree though, there's plenty of intelligence and teamplay in Neymar's game too. He's very much capable of becoming an Henry-type who scores plenty but assists almost as much, IMO, but at the same time he's clearly got a long, long way to go.

Can we please just sign him,Ronie in Madrid, Messi at Barca and Neymar at United.

The best players in the world at best teams in the word.

Dearie me. I just unloaded on my keyboard.

Just break the bank for this kid already. Sod the fooking midfield. Sod the fooking defence. Its been too long since we've had a proper no. 7 in our team. If any player in the world deserves to wear the number its got to be Neymar. How I long for that buzz and excitement around OT everytime Ronaldo touched the ball. I think it would be much the same with Neymar.

With the 2 or 3 years that Fergie has left in him, this will be his final project and I have no doubts he would mold this kid into one of the best, if not the best, player in the world.

Must be pretty awesome having those skills to be honest.

With United worrying about not selling out those season tickets and if there is one player who will put bums to seats, it's this bloke. Has all the skill, arrogance and talent to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo. He seems fearless too taking defenders on by himself

The standard of defenders in the Brazilian league is rather poor.

He's overhyped.

You're a bit of a fanny for overhyped Brazilians it would seem.

Neymar to be united's number 7

If looks were to judge, half or our team would be sold immediately. Why are you so into looks anyway? Are you a gay hairdresser?

in the games ive watched of him he reeks of arrogance... and not the ronaldo or cantona lind. never conducive to a good team chemistry. too much prima donna

I thought Oscar was the standout Brazilian, never seen him before. Two-footed, passing, pace, power and a football brain.

Thats natural.

He is only 20.

And imo Robinho look fantastically talented early on too but he didnt look this talented.

Also as much I want United to sign Neymar, there is 0% chance of it happening.

One can hope. With the imminent departure of Berbatov we surely need another striker on the books.

Whilst Neymar plays more on the left wing than upfront, I think him and Rooney would be such an exciting pairing. Its an added bonus that he can play on the left flank though, because that allows us to go with Rooney/Welbeck upfront and Neymar on the left.

To be fair, he looks like he could play the thierry henry role which the gooners utilised so well in the early 2000's.

That country has so many talented footballers at age 19-22 it's unreal. Many of them get lost because of better players and there's often lack of discipline which makes a lot of the talent go to waste.

If you can get them young away from Brazil and discipline them you won't have a hard time filling up gaps in your midfield.

I must admit I would think twice about giving him 32 or something like that, clown like him doesn't deserve to be even close to number 7.

There was a Brazilian newbie last year talking about him as something of a lost cause, and that was one of the biggest disappointments in Brazil because before Neymar exploded onto the scene Oscar was the biggest prospect in Brazil. He pushed hard to get a move abroad almost immediately after getting in the team (or rather, his (and Neymar's) agent Wagner Ribeiro did), so Sao Paulo froze him out of the team and when he eventually moved on to Internacional he really struggled early on. Seems like he's had a real resurgence over the past year and just went from strength to strength after starring in the u20 WC final. He was the only one in the side who retained any kind of composure against Mexico.

The Brazil team just looks a shambles at the moment, every position in the front 6 is up for grabs. Neymar's the only one who's even close to cementing his place in the side and even then he's yet to really impress. Wouldn't be surprised to see Coutinho break into the side out of nowhere much like Oscar has over the next year or so.
