I think most PSG fans would gladly give us Pochettino today which should send alarm bells ringing for us

They might have said the same with Tuchel. I think Tuchel has turned out better than Poch but if you were to wind the clock back 3 years it would probably be the other way round. Maybe Poch won’t get back to his best but if he did then a couple of years of him might not be a bad thing. I think he’d be better than Rodgers purely because he’s not a Liverpool reject. He’d also help your players better learn a coordinated pressing system. Conte is clearly quite a bit better than him though…

If the board actually have a plan to go for a more progressive thinking manager in the summer then I can accept that. I just hope they’re prepared for this manager to inform them that the likes of Maguire, De Gea, and AWB are not in his plans and require replacement.

Still no reason to keep Ole now.

Sack Ole bring and interim in like Blanc and get your appointment in the summer. We will not get top 4 under Ole this season (which shouldn't be the target anyway) mark my words. Copy and paste this back to me at the end of the season, I won't be wrong.

Ole himself spoke about competing for the title come April, we are out of it in October, embarressied by Liverpool, yet he is still here. The ambition in the club and some of the fan base makes me sick.

Edit: Antonio Conte to Spurs is signed.
Utd must be seen to be proactive, the club cannot afford to stand still.
Ideas/suggestions please.

Whatever people may think of Conte, he is a world class manager. Conte‘s signature would be regarded as a massive coup for Spurs.

So what do we (Utd) do? …if anything. Here’s a few suggestions..….

Wait and see what happens until after the City game?

Line up another marquee transfer?

Keep calm?

Panic?

Sit on our hands and do absolutely nothing?

Other suggestions welcome.

We had a week's head start on Spurs if we’d have wanted Conte but I assume that we don’t.

Whatever you do bext, you need to book Fergie into a good rest home and stop asking him who he would like next.

If he's entertaining Spurs it means we snubbed him and we're stuck with Ole for the season. Spurs weren't expected to do shit this season and still fire their manager because their board sees that he wasn't the guy. They go and rectify the mistake almost immediately.

Our board doubles down on him and continues to emotionally blackmail the fanbase.

Drop out of the CL into the europa league to give us a bonus route into the CL next season, better chance at a trophy this season.

Amazing that so many mention ambition and then talk about interim and caretakers. Now who is lacking ambition?
Why is that lacking ambition? The first step towards wanting to be an ambitious club is getting rid of the incompetent manager. Once you've done that it's then about hiring the right man to match the club's ambitions, and if none are immediately available, instilling a caretaker (who will likely still be an upgrade over Ole, who wouldn't be at this point?) until we make the right appointment.

As for this notion that going for the caretaker approach is akin to us writing off our season now - we're essentially already doing that by wasting another year with Ole at the wheel.

Support the players and manager. No point worrying about Joel Glazer, he's currently tanning by the pool whilst two hookers line him up some fine Colombian marching powder.

Well here is the list of ambition.

1. Hire Conte or Hire a manager where we buy them out of a current club.

2. Failing that. Hire a caretaker a line up a manager for next season.

3. Keep Ole till the summer and hire a manger then.

4. Keep Ole for this season and next season.

We need to be doing either Option 1 or 2 now. We will do either option 3 or 4.

That's the problem.

We all know what we should do.

What we'll actually do? Nothing.

If he goes to spurs it means we turned him down. We just need to hope we’ve got a fecking good reason for doing so, not just ‘hope Ole works out’.

But not us. Conte rejected them in the summer now he's going. Good for them.

If we do get rid of Ole, we have to ensure we make the right decision. Don't worry about what others are doing right now.

Keano caretaker would be more entertaining than any other temporary solution I can think of. No seriously It needs a permanent switch after the city game

If the rumours on our board being sceptical about Conte's suitability are true then this is one thing I won't blame them for.

Not that I 100% share the view but it would indicate they're actually thinking and discussing something rather than jump for anyone out there.

See that's the issue with the fans and our club. It's always getting into the way of itself. "We can't make the wrong decision so let's make sure we make the right one". We've missed out of Tuchel and Conte because of that. Sometimes you just make the easy decision in front of you and if it goes wrong you start fresh again. Our board is so obsessed with trying to find the perfect solution it ends up making the worst decision.

See the season out under Ole but have Ten Haag lined up to take over from the moment the season ends.

This would be my favoured approach and have posted that for the last week.

Ten Haags style is what almost every United fan would want to see us transition to, every weakness in coaching ability we have now would be rectified

Move Ole sideways into a club role if he’s interested. The club will like that PR angle.

I would rather keep Ole til the end of the season (providing no further embarassments) than bring someone in who will either be another failure or who will bring a few short-term wins and then leave us in worse condition in a year.

What I dont understand is why we can't just throw a Sancho-sized package (stop laughing in the back!) at our top candidate and bring him in NOW!

Make another thread where we call for the managers sacking, say we are unambitious and have a go at match going fans for not booing enough.

I wish the likes of you worried as much about the maximizing the potential of our squad as minimizing the number of threads.

Ole is doing exactly what you fear.

There is no good argument for Ole continuing.

They will obviously give Ole rest of season unless we fall way behind fourth, even if drop into Europa probably makes no difference.

It’s not the worst idea if you use the time to identify right manager to bring in for next season irrespective of whether we finish in top 4 but I can’t see that happening. More excuses and then just more of the same next season.

That's not what was said at all though.

It's not a bad thing to want to make the right appointment rather than just someone who's available.

Gee , isn't that exactly how we ended up with Ole?

If United was run in a decent way then Ole would not have survived the Liverpool game. It's all about standards and no manager should survive such humiliation after spending 415m in 3 years to achieve nothing at all.

Once Ole was at the door then the club would have appointed Phelan as interim manager and then explore all options. Considering that there are no top managers available then a 2 year contract to Conte wouldn't have sounded a bad idea.

We're going to wait till PSG sack Poch, so March or April time depending on when they go out of the CL.

Make a sandwich and read a book?

On a serious note, maybe be little bit positive. That would do good to some people.

We ended up with Ole because the club overreacted to fluking the tie with PSG. If we had just waited till the end of the season, when we finished 6th and really tailed off after the PSG tie, Ole could have been assessed more accurately.
