Hopefully it's true and Conte is ruled out. Not the right fit for the club at all.

For me:
  1. ten Hag
  2. Enrique
  3. Galtier

Ole will probably do enough to see out the season - but the only way he keeps his job should be through going on some insane run and winning the league or champions league (or coming extremely close to one of those).

Is there a specific reason there is no love for Luis Enrique here? Or the low endorsement for him is due to the Spanish NT duties? In any case, he is criminally underrated. I for one found his Barca more watchable than Pep’s Barca. That may just be me though!

If the World Cup was in June/July (aka when it should be and held in Australia), you could put a caretaker in place (Arsene Wenger for example) and have Lucho take over after the World Cup.

The World Cup being held in December 2022 means you'd have to convince him to walk away from the Spain job and I doubt he'd do that Spain are a good chance of winning next year's World Cup. I could see him replacing Pep at City whenever that point comes.

I like his style of play and with Spain. He seems to subscribe to the ''if you're good enough, you're old enough'' theory.

Am I still the only one that would quite like Poch? Done it twice in the Prem, played some attractive football and now will have experience being forced to play a faded star to the detriment of the team! Ticks all the boxes!

This could be Pep’s last season at City, so Man Utd could be competing with them for a new manager after this one is over.

If PSG sack Poch, he is 10000000% our next manager.

I'd put all my money on it.

but why Poch. I dont unterstand our board. He isnt very succesfull with PSG is he. But I must admit that I dont watch the french League

Can you stop kicking us when we are down please?

I’m not. This is about as big a news story as you get in Football. Of course I am a Chelsea fan, but also a fan of football overall. The ripple effects of these decisions will be huge. It is a massive story playing out in real time.

It's going to be Poch, we will just drag things out until PSG sack him. Why we're obsessed with him I don't know

It's just depressing from our perspective.

Poch or Rodgers next.

So basically no matter who we get they will be manager currently below the tier of our rivals.

1. Klopp Pep
2. Tuchel Conte
3. Rodgers :wenger: Poch

We are supposed to be Manchester United. The time to get Poch was years ago. We don't have the luxury now. We need a top manager.

Hell Ole plays Contes system now so not getting Conte makes little sense

So, after the City games (likely to be a loss), our fixtures are as fowllows:

Nov 20 Watford (A); Nov 23 VIllareal (A); Nov 28 Chelsea (A); Dec 3 Arsenal (H).

I presume we will be able to beat Watford, are likely to drop points against Villareal, lose to Chelsea and drop points against Arsenal. By that time we are very likely to be 12-15 points behind league leaders. Will he get the sack if so, or will the Board wait until we are officially out of top 4?

I think most PSG fans would gladly give us Pochettino today which should send alarm bells ringing for us

There’s no difference between you and the board at all, no wonder we are were we are.
How’s Conte not the right fit? Because he plays 3 at the back? Or you are going with the false repeated narrative that he’s defensively boring.

We need to win now and change the mentality of this team and Conte will do that instantly. We will wait for 10 years for the right manager that “fits” the United way( whatever that is) comes along.

I think it’s nailed on now that you guys are waiting it out with Ole until the end of the season no matter what happens. If he finishes top 4 you’ll keep him, if not you get one of the 2 hot British managers currently, Rodgers or Potter. Neither of them will leave their clubs mid season which would explain why your board hasn’t acted now.

Yep, also not getting anywhere near winning a title for years, but the board doesn't care anyway so it's all good.

Obviously things can change and a really negative run of form could lead to them making a decision but I do think this is right. From the lack of action after performances and results this season and the briefings from the club it does seem like they're desperate to keep Solskjaer for the long-term if it can in anyway be justified (I do think they believe he is the new Ferguson - which is moronic) and unless he doesn't make top 4 he will be here next season. The 2 names you've mentioned are serious contenders, if a change is needed, although it seems that Pochettino would most likely be their first choice if he's available at that stage.

My pick was Conte. Now? Luis Enrique. But we'll end up with Graham Potter. And we''ll still be at a disadvantage compared to our rivals. Just like now with OIe.

Conte
Pep
Klopp
Tuchel
Potter/Ole

Which name(s) doesn't fit?

It's seems the below three are on the short-list.

I don't want Rodgers but am big fan of Pochettino even though he's probably not as good as I believe he is. Ten Hag is doing great at Ajax, so I'd be happy with either Pochettino and ten Hag, but not so much with Brendan Rodgers. Leicester haven't been that great so far this season, of course they beat us but generally nothing special. If they do have a another successful season by the time it ends then I'd expect our board to go and try get Rodgers.

It looks more and more likely we're going to keep Ole here until May. Big risk of throwing season away but there is really no good manager available atm except for Conte and the board isn't keen on him it seems.

We will end up with another 2nd/3rd rate manager and the cycle of mediocrity will continue. Everyone can see it, except our board members and that includes the footballing members.

Now we wait until winter break because new manager might need time. Rinse and repeat.

I think it's easy to understand the decision not to pursue Conte, even if you don't agree with it.

The club simply have an idea of the type of manager they want and Conte doesn't fit the mold. I suspect managers like Poch, Ten Hag, Potter or (god forbid) Rodgers fit their plan better and a few of those will be obtainable at the end of the season, so they're hoping to hold out til then. Whether you agree or not, at least they know the type of manager they want I suppose, as opposed to jumping from randomer to randomer like they have in the past.

It's not like it's a completely bizarre idea in principle. A side like Barca would also never hire Conte, for example. Of course they have a more formalised identity as a club which helps but the point is still that in some cases the quality of a manager isn't the be all and end all. Agree with it or not, it's a valid approach to take.

The problem is that for the rest of this season and beyond there are now four top level managers in the league in the shape of Pep, Klopp, Tuchel and Conte, while we have Ole. That doesn't bode well for us. And even if we ultimately secure one of Poch, Ten Hag, Rodgers or Potter they all have (to varying degrees) question marks over whether they belong in that company at all. They could work out in the long run, at which point the decision to be patient now will be praised. But they're far from sure bets.

And if Ole doesn't stabalise things and the club's hand is forced into getting rid of him within the next few weeks/months, where do they go? Hope Poch has been sacked by then? Hope Ajax are knocked out of the CL and Ten Hag is more willing to leave? Pay-up and hope Rodgers or Potter will leave mid-season? Or just find some interim manager and hope this season isn't a complete write -off.

Having a defined idea of the profile of manager you want is fine, but you have to actually be able to secure one.

I have seen no evidence to suggest there's any type of manager the board is planning to replace Ole with. They have made a monumental feck up hiring Ole and are refusing to back down to save face and don't really care anyway as long as happy clapping cretins hoover up the season tickets and merchandise in the meantime.

And we're throwing away a season where we have Ronaldo, Bruno, Cavani, Pogba, Varane, Sancho, Rshford, Greenwood and De Gea in our squad. What an absolute waste.
