Have we seen any patterns yet? If not, I think we should sack him.

it might just be me but i haven’t seen any progress. when will we learn getting personnel in from farming leagues?

You don't buy managers, dipshit. You give them a pat on the back once a month and a soggy envelope filled with odd cuts of meat just like the kids in our sweatshop.

manager leasing could be an untapped and lucrative market. well done me for coming up with it. who wants the hassle of owning a manager and having to pay for servicing and new shoes when you could just lease klopp from £699 per month.

timber and Antony if you believe rumours, no Idea if they’re any good but can’t be worse than what we have.
Antony from what I've seen and heard would honestly be perfect on our right wing. Timber I'd be concerned with height, but he looks talented and physical all the same, and can play either RB or CB, so having that as a squad player (also gives the option to switch to a back 3) would be very useful. Especially if we get rid of Jones and Bailly as I would expect this summer. Possibly Wan Bissaka out as well. I doubt Timber would be immediate starter, but he's only 20 and Antony is 22. They're the right age profiles to replace some older guys and are both fast and very talented.

I hope it's true as along with Rangnick it would signal the club are finally willing to let football people look after the football structure.

They might still fail but they'll have a much better chance than Woodward giving players contracts that usurp any authority of the manager then the club being baffled why the players underperform.

Is that 699 or 6.99 because I really don't want my six month Pep lease to eat into my methadone budget.

Surprised people are already so excited about another round of "saviour" manager, when LVG and Mourinho were supposed to be that and it worked out amazingly.

Anyway, hopefully he sorts out the team at least, even if nothing else works out. It's actually embarrassing that United can't boast of having a "complete" team for 10+ years now. It's been "one or two players away" for eons now.

699. it sounds a lot but you’re buying piece of mind. do you really want to buy and old manager like rangnick outright and then find out 4 months later that he’s a lemon? with select manager leasing you can find a manager to fit you and your budget. for 6.99 a month you would have tie yourself to a 12 month lease of frank lampard.

This keeps being peddled, but really, who hasn't been allowed to be?

Every manager but Moyes got a shit ton of financial backing. They were all allowed to change their minds and replace some star signing quickly. Van Gaal signed Di Maria then sold Di Maria. Mourinho signed Pogba/Ibra/Mkhitaryan, then brought in Lukaku, then replaced Mkhitaryan with Sanchez, then after continually declining on the pitch and picking fights, he wanted to sell Pogba and others. Obviously no sane board is going to back a manager 100% with player turnover after the manager starts being unhinged and failing. Solskjaer was allowed to get rid of Sanchez and Lukaku right away ffs. They backed his choice at CB and RB by spending way over the odds to get them.

We've allowed all our managers to have too much input if anything. A perfect counter example is Klopp with Salah. He wanted Brandt. The board got him Salah. He shut up and made it work. The biggest issue with United the past decade has just been bad appointment after bad appointment.
Being ruthless isnt purely financial backing. We had the last manager have to publicly apologise to a slapped arse for having the temerity to remind him to focus on football. We just had Ralf say Lingard could go in January for the board to block it, being petty over a few million. That player is then allowed a week off to get over the trauma of missing out on a Geordie payday. These players have no fear of authority, that authroity is granted from above

it’s been 50 minutes since this news broke and i still don’t see a defined style of play or any kind of clarity in our recruitment. we should of gone for maurice porch. psg will sack him any way. could of got him for free.
I disagree, we should have gone for Matt Le Tis. His radical thinking is just what this club needs. Plus with his penalty record, we’ll never lose a Europa League final again…

 that could work, until the day you return them anyway.

"Mr Elvis, can you please explain why your Sam Allardyce came back smelling of piss and had a widened exhaust pipe?"

It really adds another fascinating layer. Do you spread your money and go for a cheaper option for longer periods, or do you blow most of your budget on 3/4 months of the crème de La crème and have Barry from accounts manage the team for the rest of it, knowing you bought yourself a cushion.

Does this mean we finally get some positivity on here now?

It will be very interesting to see what he can do. Looking forward to next season.

Jesus Christ are people still going on about this.

Lingard wasn’t allowed to leave because Greenwood was (I should probably say allegedly here) a scumbag. Even with Lingard our depth up top is abysmal now, imagine how bad it would have been without him!

can someone point to a video about his playing style and 'philosophy'

I feel nervous but excited if we’re actually doing this. I hope it works as I really want it to work.

Back in November, I thought that appointing Ralf as interim was the best choice in the long run, and ETH would be the best choice for the permanent role, so I’m glad that so many people here share similar sentiments and so do the club by these latest developments.

It would be interesting if any further developments happen at board level since I think ETH will need a good support system from the club. We can’t cram him into a Ferguson shaped hole. Ralf may just be a consultant for us and pull double duty with Austria, and the consultancy role really was just that. We could hire Paul Mitchell who’d take on a role at the club and do the job that some people thought Ralf would have been (i.e a technical director), since Ralf is like 65 now and may not want the day to day gig especially seeing how he’s been doing it for 40 years at this point. Mitchell or even Murtough could be reading off the same hymn sheets as Ralf anyway, so we don’t need Ralf every hour of every day. We just need him to give some insights.

True… but I think we can all agree that we might start enjoy watching us again. Been a long time coming mate.
Well either that or it becomes Van Gaal-esque again while we focus on ball retention with players that don't have an eye for a killer pass. Like I said, expectations need to come down, I'll start by hoping we make CL next season and let's see what happens from there.

I know this thread is for ETH but for his assistant, McClaren or Rene, or both….thoughts?

Lingard never gets a game even now though? Our treatment all season of Lingard has been baffling, could of got a decent fee in the summer but we keep him and Ole never played him, could have been perfect for RR's so called pressing game but again he's never been given a sniff and when we had our last chance to get some money for him we turned it down again

We would not notice if Lingard hadn't been here this season (well bar the 2 extra points against West Ham which are useless to us now)

Ok, so that’s the end of the beginning (of the reboot).

We now need:
  • A major cull of the playing staff and culture change. Any backstabbers and freeloaders need booting out.
  • Eric needs to be backed on any signing he wants now
  • We need to sort our wage structure now-new deals should be performance based-we need to eradicate the toxic, grasping culture
  • 2-3 years minimum to see the turnaround-the fans need to play their part here, and any irrational idiocy in that regard needs calling out by sane fans. This won’t work if people start throwing tantrums if the turnaround isn’t quick enough.
  • The football structure needs to continue to develop. Bye Phelan, looks like Fletcher here to stay, and Murtough but we need to keep building on analytics etc
  • The Glazers need to either stay out of things and count themselves lucky or face more protests

He’s come on off the bench a few times, and been as impactful as Elanga/Rashford/whoever he’s replaced.

At least he’s saved us from the agony of watching old Father Time Mata

Would actually not like Steve McClaren, only because its been a long ass time since he's been at United

Great News. let's get the transfers done before pre season and do things properly. hopefully the right man.

The Hag is our next manger, no ifs or buts anymore. The media in Holland are definite about it.

I think it’s a fantastic appointment, The Hag is a genius up there with Guardiola and Klopp. We’ve finally got ourselves a worthy successor to Sir Fergie.
