Madrid like to hire left field when there's no clear candidate available. Rene or McClaren would be a great idea. Top number 2s and they know the club which will help to ease in ETH. Seems a sensible step - learning from Moyes mistakes.

This could all go pear shaped, sure, but I like the idea of a complete reset. Given the state of the club now, we need to do what Liverpool did with Klop. He was given time and backing and allowed to see out his vision and that’s exactly what we need to give ETH. It’s at least a 5 year project and we have to accept that. If it takes less time to get where we should be, that’s a Bonus, but to get to where City and LFC are today, it’s not going to be quick.

If this is true, first good news in a long while. I just hope Murtough and Ragnick will bring in the right players this summer and fix our problem areas as well. Only if they can find two quality midfielders and a quality right wing player will ten Hag have any chance of success here.
Why is Rene a top number 2?
He was never anything more than a first team coach under Fergie and hasn't exactly done much since then.
