I wonder if this means Poch to Real.

That depends if he is allowed to be
This keeps being peddled, but really, who hasn't been allowed to be?

Every manager but Moyes got a shit ton of financial backing. They were all allowed to change their minds and replace some star signing quickly. Van Gaal signed Di Maria then sold Di Maria. Mourinho signed Pogba/Ibra/Mkhitaryan, then brought in Lukaku, then replaced Mkhitaryan with Sanchez, then after continually declining on the pitch and picking fights, he wanted to sell Pogba and others. Obviously no sane board is going to back a manager 100% with player turnover after the manager starts being unhinged and failing. Solskjaer was allowed to get rid of Sanchez and Lukaku right away ffs. They backed his choice at CB and RB by spending way over the odds to get them.

We've allowed all our managers to have too much input if anything. A perfect counter example is Klopp with Salah. He wanted Brandt. The board got him Salah. He shut up and made it work. The biggest issue with United the past decade has just been bad appointment after bad appointment.

Doesn't matter who we bring in. No manager will sort us out. This will just be more of the same garbage football until we get rid of the snakes in the dressing room.

All i hope for is that he has the ruthlessness that a Tuchel/Pep/Klopp has to put the players in their places when they act up with these PR stunts whenever they don't get picked. Player power has absolutely stunk up the place at United for years.

He's pretty ruthless from what I've seen of him. Very similar of Pep in style. But as clarkydaz said, he needs the Glazers to be behind him 100%. We can't allow this to be another case of Mourinho. For all his faults, he should have been backed by the board on both Pogba and Martial.
Why? What sane board is going to sell Pogba and Martial in summer 2018? Mourinho by that point was picking fights with everyone, going off the rails while Pogba had just won the World Cup. Martial was just 2 years removed from a fantastic first season and was a young player. Of course the board won't sell them when they are thinking of sacking Mourinho at that point. The problem our board has/had is that once we get to that point, it's better to just act and replace rather than give them that last chance. Mourinho that summer had his purse strings tightened because he was on his last chance. Nothing dramatic in the window in case we sack and the future manager wants these players.

The mistake wasn't keeping Pogba and Martial, it was not sacking Mourinho before the season started.

I see a lot of this sort of mad revisionism that Jose was right about Pogba, Martial, Rashford and Shaw.

But the truth is that it would have been horrific to sell any of those at the time, and let Jose saddle us with the 29/30 year olds he was linked with for huge money.

In terms of Ten Hag, it seems like the club have suprised us all and got something done very nicely and early enough for him to start working in the background with regards to playing additions in the summer.

As a minimum you'd think he'd be saying "don't sell Van Beek" until he's had a chance to work with him etc.

It was bit premature but with confirmation from Simon Stone about Ten Hag being favourite for the job it's kind of make sense now.
Yeah now it does, but he does caveat nothing is complete!

Whichever manager comes they’ve got a massive job on their hands. And if he doesn’t get off to a flyer he will undoubtedly be sucked into the quicksand like our last few managers.

The irony of all the "Poch is a yes man" nonsense was that ETH was always the one more likely to operate amiably under a DOF set-up. Which is a good thing. You don't want a manager who is in constant conflict with those he works under.

I don’t think so. There’s a feeling of resignation among the fanbase that the job on hand is much bigger than it’s been in the last decade despite the considerable investment. Added to that once there are signs of positive football there will be plenty of patience for ETH.

Love it love it love it!!!!! They finally listened to us and choose who we wanted. This could actually be the first decision they have made post Fergie to get right

I think it's at the stage of working out final details of the Contract unless some drastic issues come up it's more or less inevitable Ten Hag would be United's next manager .

Eric Ten Hag appointed as manager for next season :D

Tomorrow's news paper leaks: players already disenchanted and unhappy with the Dutchman's methods.

I'm slathering jam all over my naked body in anticipation.

Not that I disagree but isn’t it likely that we’ll see a lot of players move on this summer, be or two of whom could be accused of focusing more on their own brand than the team. Bring in a few grafters with a manager who knows how he wants his team to play and you could see things turning around quickly.

I would be very surprised. Madrid’s holy grail is the CL, and that’s exactly where Poch has fallen short at his most recent job. Stranger things have happened though and almost everyone has managed Real already so at some point they’re going to run out of choices.
