I really hope there is a clear frontrunner and this is just the club drip feeding information.

If not, then we are truly lost. You can't have 2 rounds of interviews and months of due diligence without having a tangible preference at this stage. I'd like to think the club are more than set on who they want but aren't disclosing it. But then it begs the question why they'd leak this to Whitwell. It makes them appear incompetent.

85% of the fanbase pretty much on every poll wants Ten Hag. If the board is arrogant enough to overlook this and go for Poch, he is doomed for failure. He will never be given the time to succeed regardless.

The old he has 'PL experience' that gets thrown in by everybody will make sure of that. If he gets backed he should have us up and running quickly apparently. It is if the owners/board think we need a complete change at the club. I personally do. At the moment it is which signing do the board think will excite the fans, throw a team together and expect it to work when it blatantly won't. We need a plan and a man to carry it out.

If we hire Poch the fans will turn on him the second we hit a rough patch, the players will have another easy scapegoat for their own ineptitude and the cycle of toxicity at the club continues. No hope and no progress on the horizon.

Ten Hag is a gamble, but with the fans on his side and prepared to give him time, plus the promise of fresh, innovative ideas it's absolutely a gamble worth taking and I hope the club can see this. He might fail but at least we'll probably see some progress in the way we approach football.

To be fair social media isn't a great barometer. It attracts a lot of bandwagon fans who don't know much.

This is a big problem for Manchester United now !
All the so called Legends are clamouring for Poch instead of the fans favourite Eric Ten Hag.

If Manchester United give them a blind eyes and appoint Ten hag, believe you me they lmwill criticize hell out of him in every single game. They will mount severe pressure on him as Manchester United coach in any slightest chance they have. There will be no breathing space for him Ten Hag.They are doing all this to scare him away from Manchester United.

A repeat of Jose Mourinho type of blind criticism from the legends is about to happen again if Manchester United appoint ETH.

Manchester United legends are also part of our problem.

Yeah it definitely feels like that

I just wish that the club could see this too

When life gives you Rashford, make a bowl of lemons

Imagine Neville and Scholes if we appoint Ten Hag. They'll be on his back in less than a month and will be well over the top with criticism.

Ten hag for me but I will also support if poch comes in. People talking like treble nailed on with ETH and Poch would get us relegated, its a bit of exaggeration.
With the current situation of this club, it needs a hard reboot and ETH can help us with that.

On the other hand, Poch wouldn’t need much adjustment time while ETH needs that. But once the style and system instilled successfully we will be good in long term.

So, ETH = higher risk, higher reward
Poch = low risk, low reward

Its either leaks or media clutching at straws.

Whitwell isn't that type of journalist. He normally reports what he's fed from established club sources.
I think they've drip fed him some info and he's simply fulfilling his obligation to report it.

Then they're just muddying the water all the while maybe having decided already. I dont think it makes them incompetent although I dont know whats the purpose on the other hand.

I think it makes them look incompetent because they're trying to brief updates to show the process is ongoing but they look like lemons by not knowing who they want.
Undoubtedly the club have seen 99% of the press tip to ETH's favour which may well be true. But cooling that idea whilst the process continues was likely the play - they look to have done this by citing Poch can be gotten without too much hassle too and we'll have a third round with both. But that just makes them look unsure

Would rather Shrager's updates which was "ETH talks going well but nothing imminent". Fine with that :D

It means the same thing. :) Also it could be damaging to the whole process if they just leak the info of ETH being appointed. I dont know. Maybe they're still unsure, its a process and a really important decision. Personally I think they've already decided and this all is a formality.

Me too, we think its Poch right? :nervous:

Seriously though, I get what you mean. I just prefer briefs that don't make us look like we're lost between the two is all. There are different ways to word it and anything to avoid the impression we have no clue would be a good start.

I started out preferring Poch but everything I heard made me switch to ETH. Rooney was the nail in his coffin.

Yeah, who knows what's the leak and how is put by the media, some things, words are lost in translation sometimes.

I think its ETH. :) Too much smoke at the moment not to be him.

As for our legends, some Hajduk Split fans might back me on this but it reminds me of that club situation. They havent been champions here since 2005 and right now they're doing a lot better than previous years but you have former legends non stop speaking about the club and saying some absolute bollocks, some of it really damaging to the club and the situation around it. Most of the time they're doing it to stay relevant and how to stay relevant but saying some explosive things just to be in the headline. Our legend pushing for Poch and before that criticizing the hell out of LVG and Mourinho all the while trying to absolve Ole of any guilt says a lot and same thing will happen if, when we appoint ETH.

If the club is incapable of making the correct football decisions without needing to check fan sentiments first, we're absolutely doomed.

We really should be selling most of those players out on loan and a couple more, that should give the new incoming manager a hefty transfer kitty this summer.

Fans are rarely right about most business decisions around their clubs as they're too emotional, so I'd take anything the fan's 'want' with a pinch of salt if it's clear Ten Hag isn't up to it during the interview process.

It's hard to avoid the conclusion that most fans and ex-players don't know much.

1. over a larger scale people opinions has value.
2. The board Itself has shown their massive incompetence over a decate now.
3.Ten Hag first interview was exellent according to tier 1 journalists

The longer this process is dragged out the more I think fans are being gaslighted. The Glazers will want Poch because he is a yes man who will defer to their commercial imperatives.

That makes no sense.

In what way is Pochettino a yes man?

ETH said yes to the board about his stars leaving like De Jong, VDB, De Ligt, and Ziyech. Is that not yes man? As far what I know, most managers (apart from Conte) are yes man because they are working for the owner, which is a common sense in job. Even Klopp just accepted it in 2019/2020 for not having a new player in the summer.

there is no logic in the idea of getting the fans excited about Ten Hag only to hire Poch, if that’s what you mean.

While I don’t like Ogden, this does make some sense until you realize the players thru a serial winner in Jose under the bus.
So they are also saying Ole, Carrick and McKenna were no good, also as you said Jose has rubbish coaches and LVG has rubbish coaches. Will love to see if any of this lot make it as coaches as they are so all knowing.

Probably not a terrible idea in all honesty. Steve knows the club and Erik and can help bridge
Only if its Ten Hags choice. If its something the board wants Ten Hag to accept , they can feck off
