What's with the random Odegaard mention?
He is the engine of the current Arsenal team in the similar tactic. Same role to create chance for the team. Never say he is among the best with KDB and Xavi. It is just like Ben white is playing the same ball playing role like Blind for Man Utd back then and now for Ajax. Same role.

All the noises recently make it sound like ten Hag. Let's hope the media know what they're talking about!

This is the actual quote. Has a bit more context to it:

Yeah, still really a nothing quote though ?

And it's actually bullshit, since what Pep did was replacing the aging players in his defense. The core of the midfield and attack didn't change that much under him until very recently. He won the league with Fernandinho, Silva, KDB, Aguero and Sterling as his main attack and midfield, which were all present previously. His problems was with the fullback and center backs being past it/old players, so he replaced them. Hardly "underestimating the league" in his first season, or realizing anything about the nature of the PL.

Ah, ok. Just found it odd that his name was alongside theirs.
Even Pep needs to turn over alot of players to implement his philosophy. Without the right players you can only keep passing the ball within the triangle and no one can spot the opening and movement of players in the front 3, and make that killer pass. That is why it was so boring.

If ETH can achieve 70% possession against Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal with players like Lingaard, Rashford, Timhthy Fosu-Mensah, Guillermo Varela, Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett, Andreas Pereira and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson just like LVG, then I will believe his ceiling is higher and has the "new" thinking and ideas.

LVG managed in one of the worst PL seasons when it came to the quality of top 4 teams and their managers, to the point that Leicester and Tottenham fought it for the title in his second season.

The problem is the quality of players in the team. No one can create chance in that team. There is no KDB, no Odegaard, no Xavi/Iniesta there. Anyway it is history.

Again, a bit under 60%, but yeah he did well against them and was especially impressive in his 1st season as been mentioned. Then all went to shit.

Shooting stats are the most damning (fewest shots on goal of all teams in the league at home or bottom three even when you include away games). We were dreadful in that 2nd season. You don't need KDB, peak Fabregas or Scholes to have better stats then those.

The problem is that he was also highly involved in recruiting process (Di Maria, Bastian, Depay, Schneiderlin...) while we spent a shitload. So, even in that aspect he failed and was part of the problem.

One good thing about the noise of ETH, is the Brendan Rodgers, name doesn't get mentioned. I've said many a time Enrique is my choice but it's a tough one because of when the World cup is. ETH rumours are now picking up speed let's see.

Where is 70% possession stat against top teams that you mentioned?

Not sure why are you posting this btw. He had a great record in his first season against top 6 teams, but even that took a dip in the following season and he couldn't built upon a relatively solid first year.

It is quite obvious why he was more successful against better teams. All other teams were happy to let our CB's pass to each other the whole game and he couldn't find a way to break them if they had 10 players behind the ball playing on the counter.

He's been trolling non-stop in the United forum for a while now, not a surprise he's making up stats.

I think these poch rumours are completely driven by media and french journalists to create a narrative that united is desperate for appointing poch but in reality nothing happened , not even an informal approach.

Even the story of players, SAF likes poch are BS i believe. Some did this purposely to keep us in bad shape since poch wouldn’t be a success here which’s obvious.

Having said that, there’s too much smoke about ETH and looks like we made an informal offer and some communication happened with his camp. You can sense that by the looks of his responses.

I don’t think poch is a bad manager but the united task is too big for him.
Hope so mate, ten Hag will bring excitement for most us fans. He’ll bring fresh and new ideas. He’s going to destroy the premier league in a few seasons. Can’t wait for the games against city/Liverpool under ten Hag.

This shows how important it is to have back four and a keeper that can play progressive ball from the back. They play like a playmaker more than like a defensive players. Bailly and Bissaka are definitely out of the contender. DDG is also likely need to be upgraded. Oh dear me, I miss Daley blind already.

I loved Blind too, but if you think a team is competing for the CL with him as CB then you’re high. If you think playing with a CB who is more a playmaker than a defender will win you league titles than you’re high.

It is incredibly important for CBs to be good on the ball in the modern game, everyone knows that. Its a fact. But stop making it sound like you can play cesc as CB and win games. Defenders still need to primarily be good defenders, GKs still need to be primarily good shot stoppers. That will never, ever, ever, change.

He plays as left back with Ajax currently though. And his job is not to overlap to provide width but stay at the back to play like a playmaker.

Do you want ten Hag as our next manager? End of the day, it’s about who’s the manager is. If the manager is Ten Hag, there is likely chance he would rather have keeper and back four who can play from the back than a keeper and back four who can defend but not comfortable with their feet. That’s his principle.

Hopefully we don’t give DDG that new contract

I love how spending 1.3bn in 9 years on transfers, having the highest wage bill on the planet and generally tossing millions down the toilet year after year vastly overpaying everyone at the club translates as being “cheap”.

I was going to say this. The lengths these Ten Hag fanatics are going to spin anything in their man's favor is embarrassing and hilarious

The man hasn't even been hired and proponents of the club doing something different managerial wise for a change are already being branded as 'fanatics' :wenger:

It's going to be a miserable time for the status quo loving lot

You sound triggered

some on here get off on conflict and division within the fan base, it’s massively tragic.

Can't wait until the first reports of players being 'left confused with tactical instructions' and complaining about the lack of chips in the canteen
It's been a very long day and this made me laugh for quite a long time. I appreciate it.

For some reason, the first image in my head was Maguire standing there with an empty plate and confused expression

German journo/commentator and also works for the BBC and The Times newspaper from time to time.
If he's German i doubt he's getting any info from Ajax/Ten Hag's side but if he work's for the BBC he could have someone at United then.

Tweet from a verified journalist which I can’t post due to it being media.

I’m always skeptical about tweets like this because it’s a reply to someone asking him about it. If he genuinely had news I highly doubt he’d sit around on his arse and wait for a bloke called mufcmpb to ask him about it on Twitter before he decided to make the info public.

I do want ETH. And I agree generally with what you’re saying, but defenders still primarily need to defend and support the attack, not the other way around. Pep likes his defenders to be good on the ball, but they win because Dias is an exceptional defender, not because he can play it out of the back. Pool- crap until they got VVD who is a mountain at the back.
My point is, if people think ETH is going to come in and get defenders who’re better footballers than actual defenders, he’ll be sacked before the season ends. It doesn’t work like that, especially at top level football. And I’m sure he’s smart enough to know that.
