Changes nothing he has a decent side playing great and it’s obvious he is overachieving even if they went out
I don't disagree with how he has them playing but going out to them would be an underachievement.

He went 6/6 in the group. He’s done such a good job that people expect Ajax to be better than Benfica.
The Portuguese league is probably better than the Holland league. Ajax have just performed so well so far they are tricking people into thinking there a great side. That is down to the manager.

Would be the most United post Sir Alex thing to get Pochettino when we can get Ten Hag. Preparing myself for the disappointment.

Or lose the league to PSV…2 point difference with 8 games to play.

Judge every manager on his league results, feck the cups.

The CL is a bonus for any club that's fighting in a competitive league.

If he manages to win the league with Ajax infront of PSV, means he knows pressure, and can handle it.

Need an official Erik Ten Hag 2022- Welcome to Manchester- Elite Goals, Skills and Assists compilation

The noise will be going up a few notches now, for and against…will be interesting

Ugh I’m getting shudders about Utd appointing Poch. It reminds me of the time people were trying to convince each other Moyes was good enough.

’Outperformed with very little resources at Everton, never won any trophies but let’s see how he does’ followed by a spectacular flop.

It would arguably be even worse than Moyes. Poch has moved on from his plucky, trophy phobic club to manage a team with unlimited wealth and he has still failed. There would be absolutely zero optimism or feel good factor with this appointment.

great strategy to hire mangers who have been fired.

even this board cant be that stupid....

Can it?

Don't have an issue with them hiring managers who have been fired. Even SAF got fired from one job. Often the right manager for your club will be someone who has failed at a different club. Hell, usually the right manager for your club will eventually get fired from your club too at some point when the success stops.

The real worry is less them hiring a manager who has been fired and more them hiring a manager because they've been fired and will be cheaper to obtain. That would be stupid.

Leonardo has said they won't get rid of Pochettino because of this loss so likely he stays until the end of the season at least.

I can't blame him for losing away to Madrid. Only very special managers can defeat Madrid on their patch.

Which teams have knocked Ajax out of European competition the last few years? I remember Valencia beating them a few years ago under ETH and they were rubbish that night.

Took a last minute penalty to beat a team I've never heard of at the weekend. Will probably go all the way. I've heard a few say the PSV manager is better but not sure if they were being serious or not.

We should get Roger Schmidt before the rest of the world catches on. He's German too!

Fergie won the lot in Scotland when he was hired.

Ten Hag really does feel like the ‘next big thing’. It’s as though the stars are aligning for him to be the one to come in and get us back…

So how come I have no faith that we’ll hire him?

To be fair they had something like 38 shots to 6 in that game which is crazy  I think both appointments have logic to them - the constant bashing and “if we hire Pochetino the board are totally incompetent” bollocks is what does my head in. He’s very clearly a good manager and Ten Hag is a risk -building a dominant side in Ajax on a budget which dwarfs his competitors is completely different to the challenge he’d face here. I genuinely see both sides.

Because when in the last 10 years have we done the right thing. He is the perfect candidate and reminds me of Klopp at Dortmund yet we will hire Poch

Exactly . I am happy that it seems to be between those 2 for the job

Well thats two teams Poch has lost the room with.

Would be a excellent idea to bring him into the club in the footballing world most in need of leadership. :sarcasm active:

Poch can't be blamed the ref gave Real Madrid a goal after a clear foul on Donnaruma. I still think Poch is a decent option, would prefer ETH but if SAF says Poch who are we to argue?
He can be blamed for the way his team collapsed after

Well if someone thinks Rodger Schmidt who was sacked at Leverkusen in 2017 after a 6-2 defeat to BvB and contributing to their worst season in 14 years is better than ten Hag, then they haven't been following Schmidt's career closely. He's also failed to help PSV progress out of their Europa League group, where they finished behind Monaco and Real Sociedad this season.

He's a good coach, similar to Poch he looks to implement a high energy game style. But with Ajax juggling European competition with domestic commitments, it's given PSV and Schmidt a potential opportunity. Because PSV have the capability to win most of their games in the league.

Agree. Will feel sick if we go after Poch now as it will effectively mean that the club accepts mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Just a bland nothing manager.

The managerial equivalent of Harry Winks.. that’s a thought, you guys need a CM. I think this double signing has to happen.
