Next Man Utd Manager Expected To Be Jose Mourinho Or David Moyes

This is sort of stupid, considering Pep was 37-38 when he jumped into the Barca hotseat and performed to Barca supporters' standards (and beyond). Unless your thesis is that Pep is somehow unique and beyond Ole's poor ability...?

It's hardly a brave and outlandish theory to suggest Guardiola is an exceptional manager, beyond most other managers' ability.

How is he overrated?

Teams managed
2007–2010 Bordeaux
2010– France

Trophies
Bordeaux Ligue 1 (1): 2008-09
Coupe de la Ligue (1): 2008-09
Trophée des Champions (2): 2008, 2009

wow!! (sarcastic) - and now he's given up club football management already?! Pretty poor record if you ask me.

So he's managed three seasons at a club side, won one league, two manager of the years, an FA Cup equivalent and then turned around a national team in disaray.

And he's.. overrated?

What else would you have him do?

The only thing Guardiola has proven as a manager is that he can take an extremely talented, established team, tweak it a bit and take it to the peak of it's powers.

There's much much more to management than that. Ferguson has done that twice and he's done the ground work himelf too. He's deconstructed and reconstructed teams and squads something Pep has no experience in. Mourinho has done the business in 3 different leagues and with far less talented teams.

I'll reserve judgement on Pep until he has a sqaud that actually challenges his abilities.

Blanc for me.

The biggest problem for Mourinho is that he's never stayed at one club long enough. he might do it at United, but is he good enough.

After he failed in his last year at Chelsea, the squad went through a period of being pretty shite. It took another three managers to win the league with all that money spent, and all the signings he made. At Inter he left Rafa an aging side after the team spent millions.

Mourinho has done too much to prove he is good enough...

You are special if you can keep your team undefeated 8 years straight at home.

I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic.

Incidently, for all those claiming Mourinho doesn't stay long enough and calling for Blanc, Blanc himself has hardly stayed that long at Bordeaux.

Yes in all fairness, who expected Chelsea, Porto or Inter to win their respective leagues. :wenger:

He's a classless arrogant prick who I don't want near the United job. He's been at Madrid two minutes before falling out with everone and insulting the previous manager. I see that he's also on course to do worse than last season despite an incredible amount spent by him.

However as we have said ourselves time and time and time again, spending doesn't equal success so that last point that he's on course not to do better despite spending big doesn't really mean anything... the fact is you've picked up a bad season at a club notorious for everything messing up players/managers etc and completely discarded all his other achievements which put most managers to shame.

 A manager who has won his domestic title and their Carling Cup/FA Cup (not too sure on their competitions) vs a manager who has won the treble in Porto and Italy, 6 domestic titles, 2 champions league titles, and 7 Carling Cup/FA Cup trophies and equivelents in respective countries and has a better win percentage than SAF.

Yeah, Blanc makes perfect sense.

Mourinho will be at City next season, mark my words.

I'd be gutted if that happened. But I don't think it'll happen. Madrid will not sack him. As much of a nut job club they are, I cannot see them sacking him as there is literally nobody else better than him that is available.

He better stay at Madrid. It's pretty obvious he needs a lot of money to do well and he'd get that at City. Doubt he'd go there though considering how desperate he seems for the United job!

Long back. Fluked and cheated their way to the CL as well that year.

Since then he's spent a lot at each club. He's obviously a very very good manager but he does need his money to do well and he'd get it at City.

The more I see his teams play the less I want to see all that cynical bullshit at Old Trafford.

A collection of Di Maria, Carvajho, Pepe, Ronaldo, Marcelö, Ade and Ramös at one club. Not a very likeable bunch are they?

He needs money, apart from with that club, that was luck.

Ferguson needs money, apart from those other years, he was just lucky.

Not sure if you can get odds on him being the next City manager yet, but stick a bit of cash on it.

Didn't Mourinho make a net profit on transfers in the summer before he won The Treble?

I'd be more concerned if City went for an appointment "outside the box" and went for Villas Boas of Porto!

That would be a nightmare scenario considering the funds they have at their disposal.

Which is exactly why I can see him joining them and don't forget they will potentially throw away any manager they have at the time to get him, just as they do when better players come along.

City's cash plush Mourinho in charge with our manager leaving soon would be a nightmare for us so hope it doesn't happen.

A certain Zlatan Ibrahimovich comes to mind. He did make some good purchases that summer though tbf.

He sold his best player and used the proceeds to purchase other excellent players and improve the team. A lot of people told me that was impossible to do in 2009.

Excellent performance from Madrid there, went for the kill right and proper and ended up with the right scoreline

I don't really buy the notion that he instills in players a cynical nature, in fact I don't think anyone can. Drogba, Terry and the likes are just that way anyway. What he does do is get the best out of players by turning them into winners.

I've no doubt he'll do that at Madrid if them lunatics give him the time.

He won't leave Madrid before winning the La Liga, IMO. He always wanted to complete his grand slam i.e winning titles in Italy, Spain and England before going on to settle at a club.
