Thanks, but probably sensible to give this one a miss - my wife will be due right about the time this is likely to kick off and I don't think she'll appreciate me updating bids from the bedside mid-delivery.

I'm not super stoked for this draft, just thought it was suitable for a few ideas I had. I wouldn't want to take a place away from you. You're a relatively new drafter and I like reading your stuff

No. Rio is the best English CB since Moore. He is much more complete than Vidic and reads the game better - at his peak he will spend several games without committing a foul or even throwing himself into tackles. He doesn't seem to have weakness, whilst you can make a case for fast agile forwards against Vidic.
They compliment naturally so of course it might look that he'd struggle without Vidic.

To add to @Enigma_87's point which I fully agree with, Rio complemented Campbell and Terry perfectly for England as well. Defenders with Rio's skillset are more elusive than the more traditional stopper traits that Vidic mastered.
Rio was the more complete, sure. But Vidic's peak is highly underrated. There was a time you were amazed on a weekly basis at Vidic's commitment and audacity to jump into the face of anything and everything. So many fecking bloody noses. Rio's peak never reached those levels for me plain defending prowess wise

My mind says Rio perhaps for the reasoning that @Gio stated above — the Rio-esque defenders are so rare... but then Vidić at his peak was such a monster that won the Premier League Player of the Season not once but twice, as a defender! And I won't say that any of those awards were undeserved. Loved him to bits as well (Rio too though — and who didn't?). A perfect pairing

I was actually going to propose that we take a break after this draft for a bit as voting numbers are getting very, almost critically, low. Then I realised that I want to play the next one as soon as this draft finishes. Addiction is a terrible thing

I think the numbers have been low as quite a few regulars don't vote as often as the used to and the action in some of the recent matches has been limited which I think reduces voter numbers .
Also I think voting tends interest tends to be at its height during the early rounds when all the drafters are still in. When they drop out voting number go down. Also remember previous recent votes have been Tuppeted. I reckon if we steadily get 20 votes let game, that would be ok. Another factor is the players in this draft are less well known than others which could have reduced votes. I think the big GOATs could bring back some votes
One other reason is that teams (because of the draft format) are really hard to separate imo. Find myself nitpicking in most games and had trouble to see a clear winner, so hold out of voting.
On the other hand, in games where the debate went further on, the votes did went up.

Fine by me. I think when there is more activity the vote count would go up. That's my theory of course since more people regularly check the sub forum...
