Regarding opposition supporters, there is also a massive (tee hee) difference between those who are here to wind up and be idiotic, and those who are here for football but sometimes do windups or act idiotic.

I think I leapt into the lead when I did a mass prune of "users awaiting email confirmation" into "imported banned users" and banned about 5000 in one fell swoop. Ok it was probably more like 500 but the point remains.

I am in favour of this culling, in fact it is long overdue. To be successful though, the cull must be controversial
How would posters like Gus and Rubberman fare in such a cull? Both argue passionately, clearly have a love of football. But they blatantly misrepresent what their debater has posted to twist into their own arguement, and often their opinion is based on proveably untrue bullshit. While sometimes entertaining, is also tiresome. A ruling on these two would establish a precedence (I'm not saying they should or shouldn't, not my job, but am interested to learn)

Requests for bannings rarely work out well. I am less concerned by people who hold what are often, to me, rather silly views but are prepared to justify them than with CM style kids who haven't a clue and often try to communicate with txt speak. You would think that they would use these forums to listen and learn but that is too rarely the case.

No I agree, but that's why I wasn't requesting anyone be banned! Just wondering what precisely it is you're looking to get rid of; it's easy to say it in theory, but how does it play out in practice. And I've picked out Gus and Rubberman (hell for fairness I'll throw myself in the mix, my views are considered and usually expressed at some length to give a full impression of what I mean to get across, some like my style while others clearly don't) as case studies to help establish an idea of what this 'cull' will shape up as in reality
