New Doctor Who special

The Doctor was on form tonight! That was a cracker (pun intended). Great story, acting and filming. And the crack's sucking away the Universe. What more could you ask?

Enjoyed this weeks episode, as I have with all of them so I wouldn't be surprised if no one else did.

I thought Rory was quite irritating though, a bit too stupid and it looks like he will be given a more important role in future.

Pointless character IMO. They should have just kept Amy and the Doctor and not really bother with the relationship stuff which is not really needed in a program like Doctor Who. I don't think the main target audience (kids) are really bothered about seeing if Amy chooses the Doctor over her boyfriend. They just want to see monsters and daleks and the Doctor saving the day.

Is the main target audience really for kids? Because the show gets quite serious at times... I wouldn't say the demographic is for children only.

It's definitely a show that everyone can enjoy.

Given some of the content I'd say kids are least likely to enjoy it...

Rory was again quite annoying. The whole having to choose between Rory and the doctor doesn't help, with him squaring up to the doctor etc. Although I think that may be the response they want from the audience.

Overall, thought the episode was a bit meh. Started well, but I found myself just wanting them to die and get it over with - dreamworld or not.

Worst Doctor Who episode ever. So much promise with Dreamlord, ended up being OhMyLord! The sooner they stop the Doctor's spotty fixation on his assistants and more involved with the universe the better for all of us. Honestly, if this goes on will have to stop watching the series until the Wizard-of-Oz Daleks come back in the picture.

Rory needs to feck off, the chemistry with the doctor and Amy is a good thing but I feel they played that card to early and keep using it heavily which defers from the actual sci fi shizzle.

Hopefully after the last episode the romance is put to the backburner.

It's going back to that awkward will they won't they thing again and agree the cards have been played to early.

So far this series we've had a few brilliant episodes written by Moffat and a few awful ones written by others, coincidence? I think not.

Moffat wrote the worst one IMO...the stupid Dalek and Churchill one.

The will they wont they is getting tiresome. They did it with Piper/Tennant, leave it now...You don't need to keep doing it...it degrades the character and it's a bit patronising to the audience too. The Rose Tyler thing sort of worked cos she was such a long time assistant...this girls known him about 4 days. It feels like they're trying to ram it home. Get back to aliens and shit you mugs

True about the will they won't they but everyone can see that okay it worked okay once so leave it out and be unique.

That episode with the day-glo daleks and Churchill was just a build up episode, i'd say to think of it as a very early precursor to a 2/3 parter and shouldn't be judged as a standalone IMO.

How right you are, just checked....The one before Moffat wrote...and that was pants and all...The one about the Queen running a space whale. Psschhh. Same difference.

Incidentally, in checking, I came across the fact that Richard Curtis is going to write an episode this season....huh

We've still only actually had two good episodes.

where are the cybermen and the daleks? this is not dr who!! there was old people killing them the other night! wtf is this?????!??!?!?!?!??!

I quite liked the most recent episode. It was better than the fecking space whale episode at least. I thought that the Doctor had some good lines, and the dream stuff worked imo.

The whole love triangle thing is meh though. It's obviously going to develop into a love square(?) as well with River Song. The Dreamlord's line about "you think you're the only woman he trusts...then what's his name?" bit...in an episode last series River names the Doctor...yeah I'm sad. It also made me suspect that the Dreamlord was the Doctor. They do seem to be building upto something quite dark...the new Doctor gets annoyed with his assistant a lot more, and the Dreamlord reveals alot of his negative thoughts that he has kept repressed away.

Did he? I thought that was that guy from the League of Gentleman, oh what's his name, Mark something or other

Yeah...it was the shitty whale one Moffat wrote

Is Richard Curtis a pants writer?

No...Not at all....he's just not a Sci Fi writer....at all!!

The whole point of this epsiode was to settle on she won't

I liked this episode, dark comedy with the zombie like old people, a glimps at the level of the Doctors self loathing and an ending to the love triangle

still waiting for the gash pics, thanks in advance

I thought the whole "settling for Rory" thing was really badly done. He died and she was supposed to look distraught, but she didn't. Perhaps she just doesn't have the acting chops, but it was all a bit shit, really.

Was anyone distraught at Rory dying, honestly?

Even if the ponytail was an improvement on the character.

Think this series is going well, good direction away from the Doctor's 'hero' role. I didn't really watch last years' or the year before so maybe that is why. He seems much darker which is interesting. This last episode had good potential but seemed a bit strange.

Watched Saturdays episode this morning, quite enjoyed it and was disappointed when it finished as it hadn't seemed like it had been on for 40/45 minutes. Next weeks looks promising though.

How many epsiodes does the series last? I think that was the 8th one and I'm still waiting for some development with regards to the new daleks/people forgetting the cybermen invasion and the cracks of the universe.

i think it's about 13 episodes

I felt very classic who to me but I don't like to judge the ep till I've seen the other part. It was a good build up for the second episode.

I guess everyone is happy that Rory no longer exists then!?

After that last episode, I'm thinking that big crack eating at the universe is the tardis being blown to bits (or perhaps blowing itself to bits for some reason), which would explain why everyone but the doctor seems to know about it as the doctor is the only one whose time line hasn't yet been met by the explosion.

Another Doctor then, in this parallel crack-world? Or at least, another Time Lord with a TARDIS. Originally thought it might be the Master but he's been dragged out a lot lately.

I think that's what they're rying to point towards as a bluff IIH.

Come to think of it, how could the doctor put his hand in the crack without being sucked out of existence?

durr he had a tissue

it might just be an actual police box

How did Amy manage to forget Rory in this episode, yet remembered the soldiers that kept walking into the light in the Angels episode? Surely its one power or another, either she remembers everyone or she doesn't? With this many plot holes, I'm already Lost.
