Elaborate? In their roles I'd call them world class. Which is quite a big category as Messi is world class too.You take the term 'World Class' quite loosely based on those players.

There are very few world class players. People throw those words about far too freely. You take the term 'World Class' quite loosely based on those players.
Don't laugh. He might just turn out to be one kid they regret selling in the long term.
Surely Chelsea must buy some midfielder now? I think Bakayoko has some knee problems and won't be available for the start of the season, so that only leaves them with Kante and Fabregas?
Probably.Maybe, but if he turns out that good Liverpool would lose him to an elite club anyway.
I only put him there because Rojo and Shaw are injured. Blind leaves us exposed against fast players. Our transfer window would be close to perfect if we signed a left winger and a left fullback.

Just don't think Monaco can afford to sell many more of that side. They still looked pretty competitive last night, sell more and it will be a cakewalk for PSG.Imagine this place if they sign Fabinho
This.I'm trying to get my head around the segment expressing an underwhelming/disappointed POV here and struggling.
What more do we want exactly? Assuming we're continuing with the same formation as last year, he's an ideal addition. It's not like we're buying a 33/34 year old are pinning hopes on past experience. We're buying a guy turning 29, playing very good football and most important - proven in the PL.
More than 50% of Mourinho's signings have been applied with one eye on the future. This is a signing for the present and one that allows Herrera, and more importantly - Pogba, the time and freedom to express themselves further forward. We literally could not be getting a more ideal player. The only shame is that he missed the US tour.
Lastly, anybody crabbing about the fee paid - it is absolutely irrelevant! The figures quotes are fantasy and whether or not they are reflected as 'value for money' changes absolutely nothing.
No, I would gladly sell him to Juventus for 30m but any price other than 70m to United would be awful. A destroyer in the Matic mould is exactly what they need. Mourinho isn't interested in controlling the tempo of games in possession (like Veratti would do) and dictating the midfield is the job of the 85m player they bought the other summer. Last season one of the problems they had was the Pogba wasn't able to use his full attacking prowess because he had to be a bit defensive-minded since there was no out and out destroyer to lock down the games. Matic on the other hand, in his favoured DM role, is perfect for this. He's poor in a 2 man midfield but when we played 3-5-2 at times he had less space to cover but could lay off the ball to others to go on the offensive. Pogba/Herrera/Matic is scarily dangerous especially with somebody like Lukaku to convert all those chances that Ibra constantly missed last season. Matic is big, strong and a very good reader of the game so he'll be good at trying to secure the back / midfield, Herrera doing the dirty work and Pogba having a completely free role in the offense. Man United fans are clamoring for Fabinho but there is a reason why Mourinho hasn't lodged anything for him when the player has even said he wants to join.
I worry that we won't even get in a decent replacement and ultimately with this just further raises my anxiety (which was nicely put by Scott Harris / Carefree in the other thread). In fact as a separate note I have no idea if Bakayoko has the necessary qualities to augment our midfield (or Rudiger over VVD or Christensen...)

They should.
Actually their squad looks very thin if you look at the bench.

Another Chelsea fan on the shed end forum a few days back
So.. Matic #7 then? Ha, looking at the pic it seems like he will take 31? Isn't 13 available? What number did he wear with Chelsea?
Also, where is our new #7??
Renato Sanches has been linked with them the last few days.
If we fund Chelsea's signing of a player we really wanted only a year ago, It's not going to look very good for us.

And it's not like Chelsea need our assistance to buy players. Roman has a couple of quid, I hear. There's nothing called funding a player for other club. We wanted a player and paid to get him. We're not concerned by what they'll take that money and do with it.
With this, any club will be funding transfers of any other club. It doesn't work like this.
Well if the Di Maria, Falcao, BFS signings that sent this place into ecstasy are anything to go by it's probably a good sign when people are more reserved about new signings...
OK name another player remotely close to the profile of Matic we could have signed for less than 40m?I will try and put this in simple terms Chelsea buy Matic's replacement for 40m he is 22 we buy Matic's for 40m he is 29 next week.
Can not wait to slate the shit out of this clown in our first PL match day thread.

If they wanted to keep Matic they would of took a similar approach to Tottenham with Dier. They didn't want him so sold him to make funds available for a replacement midfielder. Chelsea have the money to buy a player without us buying someone of course they have a Russian billionaire owner but it helps balance FFP as they've not got the best revenue in the world. There's nothing called funding a player for other club. There's going to be lots of games this season. Squad rotation is key especially with an all action type like Herrera. Every one of our midfielders will get enough game time.Annoying thing about this is he could replace Herrera in games where we want a number 10. Really hope it doesn't happen too often as Herrera is my favourite player
We can't all sign their star players like Solanke.
Not football manager or Fifa at all Sanches absolutely dominated against Chelsea the other day and it is reported that after the game Conte asked for more information on him so I just think it's a possibility that he could go there. This just makes no sense, I'm sorry. This is the real world, not Football Manager. You can't fill a team with young, inexperienced players, and expect trophies. Sanches looks great on paper and if you play Fifa - an absolute monster! One thing for certain though; had we to be speaking about a £40M deal for Sanches right now, over Matic, I'd be convinced that Jose had too much sun in the States.
I (and most other people, I wager) couldn't give a flying feck about that. It's about what we need most, not what other people think of us.Renato Sanches has been linked with them the last few days.

Why? If we still wanted that player, we'd use those funds to buy him. I imagine if situation were reversed you'd think we were signing Chelseas sloppy seconds.Renato Sanches has been linked with them the last few days.

Hey, atleast we're getting our main targets in ? How's the VvD and Keita sagas going on?
