This move will allow Pogba and Herrera to press on and attack with more purpose. This is a much more dynamic midfield than we had with Fellaini or Pogba/Herrera having to sit back when Carrick wasn't playing.

De Gea
Valencia Bailly Lindelof Darmian
Matic
Herrera Pogba
Micky Lukaku Martial

Darmian at left back is piss poor, but other than that it's a strong team*

*Assuming Martial and Mkhitaryan play to their potential.

This should work wonders for our team, specifically for Pogba.

Really happy with this transfer. Much needed signing in midfield and I think he'll do well for us. Hope we wrap up Perisic too, at this stage if Mourinho wants him its enough for me.

BBC is saying the price is in region of 50m, not =50m. Ducker is saying it's 45m after adds on all paid so no collision here but BBC needs to be more specific next time.

BBC isn't saying that, the fact that they're linking MEN report it proves that they're basing off it. Ducker is reliable as it gets for us.

I only put him there because Rojo and Shaw are injured. :( Blind leaves us exposed against fast players. Our transfer window would be close to perfect if we signed a left winger and a left fullback.

Didn't notice they're also linking the MEN report, hell.

Ducker is the one to believe definitely here.

It is an ok signing, not more not less. If he finds his best form, fine, but I think we could have done much better

I could just about deal with £40m, maybe even justify it in todays market but if the £50m rumours are true, thats unbelievable.

We will have no right to laugh at the £50m City paid for Walker if we sign Matic for the same price. Just being honest.
If you think he's the right player for £40m but not £50m you need to look at yourself.

If you're more worried about being able to laugh to City than improving our team then you're an idiot.

He's got a great left foot on him and he knows how to tackle. Great signing for the team to be honest. Can't argue with Jose's ability to get players.

A very solid signing. Knows the league, knows the manager, knows how to win the Premier League, knows how to do all the dirty work and let the better attacking players do their thing.
Phasing Carrick out and replacing him with the proven Matic will be a smooth transition.

Agree. If Jose has identified who he thinks we need, then it would be stupid to not bring them in.

That's a solace to me.
I obviously hope he works out wonderfully for us.

Tbf its not that the majority think he is great... actually more a bench option. Its mostly they sold to us. Hopefully he does a great job for United but like most I dont find him a dynamic or exciting signing, maybe just a necessary one.

I'm happy enough with this signing, give us exactly what we need in midfield and allow Herrera and Pogba do their thing with having worry about the cover behind them.

Not getting the whole underwhelming response since 99% of defensive midfielders are underwhelming, there's not many out there that would make you change your trunks if United signed them.

Courtois, Kante, Hazard, Azpiliqueta I'd say, with Luiz, Fabregas, Pedro close to those levels.

Juve have lost Alves and Bonucci, 2 world class players. They have Buffon, Chiellini, Alex Sandro, Marchisio, Dybala, Higuain now.

See that's where the bias comes in. Courtois and Azpi aren't world class at all. Fabregas and Pedro being close to those levels is laughable.

Marchisio, Higuain aren't world class too.

Will probably prove to be a functional part of Jose's system, but this summers transfers continue to underwhelm me

Tbh that's the point of this summer. Last year was marquee striker, marquee midfielder, creative attacking player, desperately needed defender.

This summer was always going to be about adding steel to the team as long as the striker situation was taken care of.

You take the term 'World Class' quite loosely based on those players.

The last time we signed a 'Chelsea reject' whose surname started with 'Mat-' I'd argue it turned out pretty well for us.

Can not wait to slate the shit out of this clown in our first PL match day thread.

Well, these things take time. Obviously we hope the likes of Rashford and Bailly become world class. We target a world class talent every year. Last year it was Pogba, this year it was Griezmann. I think its important we have a strong core and allow our players to grow into their roles.
Agreed but as of now it's underwhelming, if you disagree you delude yourself imo. Our quality is far from European elite. Even Chelsea, Spurs, City have better XI's.

£40m in todays market isn't bad at all. He will need to up his game from what he's been delivering for the last 18-24 months but I'm pleased with this signing. I think he'll prove to a be a solid and dependable player for us.

I will try and put this in simple terms Chelsea buy Matic's replacement for 40m he is 22 we buy Matic's for 40m he is 29 next week.
I will try and put this in simple terms Manchester United need premier league prover winners and Matic fits the bill.
