So We were too dependent on fergie and are now without a Plan for the future without fergie.

Yes, we had no plan in place for when he went and lacked the infrastructure to keep things stable.

No he wants to leave Chelsea to join the biggest and most successful club in the country. Stop being so fecking miserable.

Talk about PR...

Chelsea are not desperate to keep him, Matic wants out and Roman is ready to sell him for the price set by him.

You made a rubbish point and now all over the place when proven false as reported by Matt Law.

No, I made a correct point that these journos are all shitty hacks that print whatever they get paid to print, the fact you believe the journo is your own business.

Then why are you losing your shit about Matic? We are not signing him as these Journalists are just shitty hacks.

They got bakayoko for 40 m and want to sell matic for 50?
If Mou rated Bakayoko he would have bought him for 40m-45m. It is clear to me that Mou rates Matic higher/wants someone who is PL proven even though I agree that 50m for a 29 year old is a bit steep.

I see nothing on Twitter to substantiate we are buying him. Where is this story coming from ?

Telegraph reported it saying Roman sanctioned the deal and he can leave for 50 Million.

Care to bring in some examples?

1st spell at Chelsea - sacked/left after he refused to work with avram grant who at the time was director of football.

Real Madrid - fell out and subsequently dropped senior players. As a result it cost them the league or at least prevented them from putting any pressure of Barca. Sacked as a result.

2nd spell at Chelsea - the whole Eva Caneiro fiasco.

I like mourinho and hope he stays here for years to come but he needs to realise his stubbornness will always result in things ending badly.

We clearly are going to sign him, that's just the basics, the various details are where the assorted bullshit comes in from the journos, there'll be several different versions by the time it's all done.

I think as fans we should be least worried about price. The market has changed and has gone batshit crazy, but there's a reason for that - teams are earning more revenue.
Yeah I've been struggling to come to terms with the prices because it's just changed so much. It's difficult to evaluate when you're used to thinking 30m is a pricey sum. I hear about 50m for Dier and think about 20m for Carrick and nothing seems to make sense.

I am not making the point that bakayko Should have been our signing but Just about the price of matic.

Is it?

All from Matt Law's reports for Telegraph. He made it clear more than once that it's Matic who wants out and want to join ManUtd. It's not Chelsea who wants him out as they tried to negotiate new contract which was rejected.
Its absolutely true, but ironically, the Chelseagraph and Matt Law especially are the last places you should be looking for objective journalism on this case (or any case involving Chelsea).

Thing is, when transfers look likely we usually get a convergence of credible journos reporting it.

Telegraph, Guardian, Times, Juve guy (who translates), Daily mail all reported it.

Not sure how true it is but apart from Telegraph everyone reported sort of same story (lukaku tax)

I know Matt Law loves to write Pro Chelsae articles and it was funny him losing his shit when we signed Lukaku.

Matic is an easy signing to integrate. Jose already knows him and his capabilities. Also, Matic is apparently one who follows instructions to a T. So not signing him early in the transfer window is not a problem. I think he will be a great success in terms of freeing up our other midfielders to attack.

Doesn't Jose have a backup plan of another player or two in case this deal doesn't work out? I find it hard to believe that he wants Matic so much

The papers are all running the same story. I don't know a lot of the journos specifically, John Cross has the story in the mirror. Guardian, Mail etc. below

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...fer-nemanja-matic-chelsea-tottenham-eric-dier
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ramovich-clears-Man-United-Nemanja-Matic.html

I ignore the Daily Mail in terms of transfer news. In this instance both articles are unsourced (ie. they didn't attribute what they published to a known source at the clubs, player, agent etc). They are also parroting the Lukaku Tax thing which is a pretty good sign they are creating an echo chamber by using the same information to create the impression there is something there.

I'm not seeing much about how a fresh challenge will affect Matic. It's all about his past few years. Not the same ilk but moving from Milan to Juve was s breath of fresh air for Pirlo. It's not unusual to see a player nearing the end of his supposed peak to flourish

Going for a player that's 28+ that Jomo knows, works as a quick fix, but also makes it easier to give playtime to younger players like Pereira, Tuanzebe and TFM, who all can play in that role.
If we buy younger, those talented youngers will have a much harder time getting playtime, and will probably not get much chance in the team at all.

If we assume it's a 4 year contract, given his age, at around £6m a year:

That's £18.5m a year for Matic.

No resale value.

Neymar on a five year deal at £200m plus £50m wages is only:

£92.5m

Neymar looks a bargain!

And don't forget that Neymar is the perfect dm aswell!

If he's played in the sitting role, I think he'd be excellent, was more box to box last season, which he's clearly not suited too.

Van Persie joined United when he was 29 years old. We won the title with his help. Thank god good managers don't think like some of you cnuts on here.

RVP was coming off a season where he scored 30 goals in 38 games in the league. Matic is coming off a season where he looked several steps off the pace for Chelsea. I'm not sure this is a comparison that makes sense.

It's the perfect mix of experience and youth. He's not likely to impede on the youngsters game time in the long term.

Aye, its not the age thats a problem. Its his decline over the past 12 months which is worrying.
