Do you think Fabinho or Dier would free Pogba?
Matudi did for France and look what he did to England's midfield when that happened.

Matic AND Fabinho are a must to strengthen the midfield. Carrick is gone next year and he'll likely play very little role this year we need depth beyond Herrera, Fellani and Carrick particularly if at least two of those won't be here this time next year.

Fabinho would as he's agile and can cover laterally which is key in a single pivot.

Won the title with 93 points, Owned each and every midfeild in the new system, except at oldtrafford. He will be a good fit for sure, But i prefer we sign both including fabinho and sell fellani.

Kante and having 3 CB's is why they were hard to break down, Matic was just the only option available for the second body in midfield.

Just to say it in case anyone really doesn't know, Fellaini is going nowhere.

Fellaini is better at aerial duels, tackling, key passes and only averages 0.2 less interceptions per game.

Fine, Jose might want matic and we will back him if he joins, but i think we have to stop going OTT and acting like he adds a huge amount to out midfield. He'd be nothing more than a squad addition. There is no area he excels over what we have.

Agree with this. We have to buy two deep lying midfielders to avoid having Fellaini desecrating the shirt again next season.

He excels in absolutely nothing and barely features on any list - stats wise - that a DM should feature in. He literally had one good season and that's it. I'm not happy with this at all.

He is! sometimes I don't feel he gets the credit he deserves particularly from the pundits there too busy drooling over Kante who is a fantastic midfielder but Herrera for me is just as good.

Herrera is better.

We should put in a few more millions and just get Kante from them. Now that would be a transfer I could get on board with.
Not a chance they'd let him go Kante, Herrera and Pogba in midfield.... the opposing team may as well just go home.

Doubt Woodward has the intelligence to use a smoke screen tbh.

Yeah Woodward is a stupid cnut that one. How he even came to be an investment banker I don't know. And as for negotiations with our sponsors, well his cat must have did them. They're a piece of piss right?!

Thats good though. Just like Carrick. The less attention he gets, the less he gets picked for the national team. So he gets to rest during those two weeks.

You mean Kante? Herrera played alongside Pogba a lot last season. And Herrera is much closer to Kante than those two players.

Fabinho would as he's agile and can cover laterally which is key in a single pivot.
I don't really think of Carrick, Alonso or Busquets being particularly agile players. I don't see that being important in a single pivot.

Matic is 12cm taller and 10KG heavier than herrera, how does herrera beat matic in aerial duels?:lol:

Well keane was a smoke screen.

No I mean Matuidi the player who was tasked with protecting the back four the whole game he was just as vital in freeing Pogba as Kante was therefore a midfield 3 of Herrera, Pogba and a very good DM is crucial.

I'm fine with buying him for £35m-£40m if Jose thinks he is what he needs. I can see him freeing Pogba to play further up, allow Ander to play with freedom, solidify the defence and keep it well shielded. And above all seeing less of Fellaini on the pitch.

Also you were always going to pay a premium buying from a direct rival. If Renties were selling him let say to Juve, Milan or another none-PL team i bet you €20m-€25m was the max he was going to fetch.

I'd honestly sooner see Daley Blind given the gig.
This seems a popular opinion but I can't see it.

As much as I'm a bit underwhelmed with the Matic signing, he's a way better option in CM than Blind.

Well out of them Busquets is the only one with signifigant time as a single pivot and is pretty mobile, Alonso played the bulk of his career in a 2 and so did Carrick. You need to be able to get across the park to cover the fullbacks on both flanks if you are the single pivot and have 2 #8's pushing on ahead of you.

France played a 4-4-2 and it was Kante and Pogba in midfield.

Not my first choice but the logic makes sense. If Bailly and Lindelof are to be our cb pairing having an experienced player in Matic protecting them is a good idea.

It is true he isn't the Matic of a couple of years ago but Chelsea haven't helped him by playing him in a two alongside Kante. A 3 man mf with Matic, Herrera and Pogba will limit the flaws of these 3 players and allow their strengths to shine.

Why would Chelsea sell him if he's so good? They clearly do not need to sell.
The same could be said as to why Jose wants to buy him, he knows him better than anyone, and judges him to be what we need.

He doesn't look to fit into the type or football Conte wants to play, either. Last season Fabregas struggled to pin now a permanent position, and look at the player they want to replace him with. Bakayoko is as limited as they come, and given the choice between the two, I'd pick Matic over him every time.
