I just want to put it on record how ridiculous this thread is. I might be wrong but I could have sworn when he went back to Chelsea people were singing his praises. Now we've actually got him - nobody seems bothered.
Not ecstatic about this signing, but that may be as there were more glamorous options mentioned, think Mourinho knows what hes doing though, and will make for a great midfield if we play a 3. Do find it concerning though that for the 2nd summer running we have spent massive money to stengthen our spine.

The stats could be telling. However, there are reasons stats could be skewed. One major reason could be with experience you begin to position yourself better. I'm not reading too much into Kante signing as the stats prove he also had a less effective season prior to Kante signing.

Unless Utd made Matic sleep in Carrington, I'm surprised after the news broke yesterday that Matic is in Manchester, we haven't seen a single picture of him since to corroborate the fact.

just like two years ago when nobody knew that Schneiderlin was at Carrington taking his medical. IIRC pictures of a blood test leaked in the evening, before that nobody had a clue.
You can have a medical done anywhere. The way the media presumed it was Carrington.

BBC, Telegraph, MEN all reported that he was in Carrington yesterday to undergo his medical. Which is weird because United usually always announce that fee is agreed with xyz club & player will join us subject medical. This hasn't happened yet, only other case where I remember in the recent past similar to this is Schneiderlin.

Declaring 29 to be "peak" age is debateable. But the more important point is that it's not building for the long-term, since you'll be likely be back again looking for a replacement DM in a couple of years.
If we get 4 to 5 years out of him there should be no complaints at all. He also know's that this is probably his last club unless he wants to go and play somewhere else at the age of 36+.
Which is fine, maybe there will be a more suitable player available in two years.
Then he'll take carrick 's and fellani's spot who'll be gone by then.
Two years is a long time in football. Two years ago, we signed Schneiderlin who people thought could be our DM for the next 5-7 years, PL proven and moving at the right age. Look how that turned out.
United is at a stage where we simply can't afford to be stagnant for 2-3 more seasons. We need success and we need it now. Matic knows Mourinho's tactics, has won the PL twice, plays in a position where we're desperately short, and is the closest thing to Carrick in the PL today. He'll come in to the team and perform at a consistent, high level from Day 1. It's the equivalent of the Van Persie signing in CM.
It's as close to a perfect signing as you can go, and I'm really excited. Our window so far has been absolutely spot on.
