NBA 2023-2024

I have no clue what I'm reading here but doesn't sound like something that goes away in 48 hours.

Very little precedent for this kind of injury - closest comparison I've heard might be Curt Schilling on the 04 Red Sox. Reportedly might be a pain tolerance issue for now but inevitable surgery in the offseason.

Who the hell really knows though. Personally hope we get some Tatum at center minutes because the Mavs just can't cope with 5 out.

Jerry West has died :( RIP to the logo, absolute legend.

Luca wasting many chances and bringing Boston into the game. Mavs wins the first quarter 31-30 after wasting a 13 point lead.

ps. Mavs are so lucky Gigantor #8 is out tonight.

Boston are just a better team - unfortunately. Dallas started on fire and after all that huffing and puffing they’re only up one. Boston’s shot selection is far superior and eventually those buckets will start to drop

No team should drop a 21 point lead (or 18 of the 21) in such a short period of time. No team.

The Warriors wouldn’t have dropped such a big lead, the Bulls wouldn’t have, nor the Lakers with Kobe and Shaq. Terrible stuff.

With Luka fouling out, there is surely no way Dallas completes this come back

Damn, match ups are motherfeckers in NBA playoffs, its actually funny how everything panned out on West front, East was a meme this season.

3-0.

I hope not hear again about “Luka & Kyrie”. Such a poor team. Three games in the NBA Finals without reaching 100 points. I blame the Celtics for letting them back in this game. This should’ve been a blowout.

Please make it 4-0.

The Timberwolves would’ve done better, but they played like amateurs against Dallas after beating the defending champions. Minnesota at least play an exciting basketball, while Dallas is such a boring team.

If Boston kick on after this season, Tatum and Brown will be considered a GOAT duo.

Whats funny i believe if Denver passed 2nd round they would match up way better than Wolves vs Dallas or Boston.

Entirely possible.

Dallas is just two guys. They can hit 60 points combined, then what? The rest of the roster is not good enough to win a championship.

But it’s not over until it’s over.

Boston so far in this series: 107 in Game 1, 105 in Game 2 and 106 in Game 3. I don’t remember anything like this recently.

Yeah I’m inclined to believe Brown is THE man for them. Both are so so good both ways though. Nights like tonight really emphasise that with how bad Luka is on D.
Doncic can score and can provide fabulous assists. But, in the end, nothing special about his numbers. He’s not a 40-10-15 guy with 3 blocks, 4 steals and great defense.

celtics doing it easy ...best team all year and proving it .....just a well rounded team and picking up jrue was just what they needed ...the hell were the bucks thinking

Who is a 40-10-15 guy with 3 blocks, 4 steals and great defense though? Peak LeBron is the only one I can think of. In one out of 5 games or so.

Absolute morons in charge there. Let's help our biggest rival and feck ourselves.

Time for that history turnaround after going 0-3 and that being in the finals! Well done on your prediction @giorno

Absolutely. The Celtics are best when they slow down the pace and current Mavs team are unable to play faster. Every time (which wasn't often) they managed to do it, they would have their best spells. Along with that, Celtics are great individually attacking/hunting weak defensive players and are picking Luka apart on the defensive end every single game. The best perimeter defense in the league to go against Luka/Kyrie and on top of that brilliant as a team all around (which would be an issue for every team). But they had more problems with Indiana and their pace than against Dallas.

I actually don't mind Boston as a team at all, so no complaints about them winning it. Just wished it is a more competitive series.

The fact that the Lakers have yet to release a statement on Jerry is absolutely disgusting. Jeanie Buss and her dumb fecks who run the team should be embarrassed. Even the fecking Clippers had more to say about it. Lakers fans seriously need to start #Bussout and get some competent people running things.

To be fair they said, if Boston kicks on. If Boston wins 4 or 5 titles, these two could be in that conversation.
No they wouldn't. And even if they would, it's a hollow statement. Ant could become the greatest player in NBA history if he kicks on, I guess :boring:

Jordan/Pippen have 6 rings, considerably better players especially in Jordan's case
Russell/Cousy have 6 rings together
Magic/Kareem have 5 rings and are both way better players
Splash Brothers have 4 rings and are the greatest shooting duo in history

If they win another, even a few more, title(s) and keep playing at a high level they are in Thomas/Dumars, Shaq/Kobe, Bird/McHale tier. No one considers those even in the conversation for the GOAT duo.

And let's not forget that they beat a Giannis-less Bucks team, the Cavs without Mitchell, and a very weak Pacers team without Haliburton, with Luka now semi-injured in the Finals. Tatum doesn't have that killer instinct to win 3 or 4 titles imo, but we'll see. It could even be argued that neither of them are the best player on their team in this series with the way Holiday is playing.

But yeah if they go on and dominate the NBA for the next 5 years with 4 rings, I'll retract the above but that won't happen.

Agree with everything, only think that Jaylen Brown elevated himself after this game as a clear-cut MVP of the series. Jrue would be behind him.

That's the point, you wrote that entire post trying to disagree for no good reason.

So I guess we can say whatever we want now about players as long as we add "if he kicks on". Will become a fun thread. "GOAT status" for Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, come on now.

Even then, doesn't do much for me. The guy is 27 and has zero first All-NBA teams. The fact that it's not Tatum who'll be Finals MVP in his first title run is also telling about what kind of player he is and isn't for me.

They will never amount to anything near GOAT duo status and it's laughable to use it in the same sentence imo.

It's a simple expression that they used and is easy to understand. I then quantified what it means to avoid confusion, you tried your best to disagree just to conclude your post with the same take you tried to disagree with.

That's just silly.

What's actually silly is using a "GOAT" expression for a reference to Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. It's completely uncalled for.

Anyway.

The real MVP and the one to watch for future consideration in the GOAT bracket is Brad Stevens. The rest is entirely disposable bar Tatum imho and, for one, I do not think the owners would want to spend almost one billion / year after they get their banner, in case.

Oh, I agree. Was not even talking in that sense, just purely that Brown was all together a best player in the series so far.

You also can't talk about a duo in a team that has Jrue, White and Porzingis as their sidekicks imo. If they went on to become a dynasty and win 3 or 4 more I still think we will talk more about how well-rounded team they are. Can't see a way for them to enter into some kind of GOAT debate same as you.

Make up your mind, you are disagreeing with yourself.

It won't happen. It's pointless to say stuff like that, which is my point. You can disregard the first sentence then if you want.

Good point. Someone like Duncan isn't associated with just one other player either as a duo.

... but can it also be a sign that Boston are playing very well as a team, and that there is no need for Tatum to play hero ball and try to cement himself as the man?
Why would he do that, when they play as great as they do now? There is simply no need for him to try to build his ego/legacy, he'll be content with winning ring(s) instead.
That is telling about what kind of player he is and isn't for me.
(He hasn't even been that bad, he's in fact been very good in this series.)

Also, the Jaylen slander has gone to far. He's been very, very good this season. He's developed into a tremendous two way player, and he can even dribble with his left hand now!
A human highlight reel in the finals. Clear cut finals MVP, and robbed of both an all-NBA selection, as well as all-defense team.

I realize the Celtics is not your favorite team, but the criticism you're providing is leaning towards parodical.
