NBA 2023-2024

Something is up with Jokic, this is actually laughable, twilight zone territory, 70% from floaters and suddenly looks like he has 0% in last two games, hell he is missing a lot more from other spots too.

Nuggets must be sick of seeing the Rockets. Half of our games far have been against Nuggets and the Lakers.

Jokic lost a bit of touch. Something is going on with him.

I have never seen Jokic like this. He was missing everything. Like he’d do the hard bit and get by his defender or beat his double team and then just mess up a wide open layup. He kept doing it again and again. It was shocking to watch.

Holy hell.
It turns out it was only 28 (much better :wenger:). The Warriors broadcast was in error. Probably deja vu from all the other turnovers they've committed this year.

Are you ready to break apart the vets? Or are we ok letting Steph’s final years be playoff first round exits? It is possible that Steph himself is ok with that.

So the Lakers win.

Wasn't sure about the In Season Tournament but think it has been a success overall.

I think Wiggins can possibly play himself back into some form. However, I think Klay is finished as a top level player. It's not just that he's been playing poorly because last year he also started slowly. Back then, however, he was forcing shots and therefore missing really difficult attempts. This year he's missing shots where he's wide open. His stroke has completely deserted him. If the Dubs do bring him back it has to be on a massively reduced salary and I'm not sure he would accept that. I think they should look to trade him. It's sad because he has given a lot to the team over the years but ultimately if you want to win you sometimes have to make the tough calls and I believe it's time for one of those tough calls to be made.

So rare to see a player stay with one club, I hope both Steph and Klay retire as Warriors.
But if they wanna win they should think about trades.

Though who will want Klay now?

Didn't even know this cup was on. What a diabolical idea, at least the Lakers won it so that Adam Silver can claim it's okay

Lakers being champions just rolls off the tongue doesn't it. Feels right.

If you'd watched any of it, you'd see it's gone down quite well. The atmospheres have been playoff-like, big change from regular season non-eventers. And if the Pacers had won, I think people would've given it more credit.

I enjoyed it. It messed up the scheduling a little, but the games themselves were enjoyable to watch. Would have been nice to see the Pacers win it but the Lakers played well and were deserved winners.

You don't know if I watched any of it, to be fair, if it wasn't for the ridiculous colours, neither would I. It's just a colossally stupid idea that games count for the league and knockout cup games at the same time.... while the final stands alone. So it's obvious not all are going to go into it with the same intentions, which creates a genuine clusterfeck of a mess.

It's just an silly idea to generate more awards and trophies, like that we now have a conference finals MVP. All built to generate engagement and money, but in the grand scheme, more meaningless shit built within the same landscape.... plus 1 game, that statistically doesn't even count.

You said you didn't know the cup was on. Now you're implying you did because of the colours of the court.

Doesn't matter anyway. Life's better if you try to enjoy things that don't actually affect your life for what they are. A bit of fun and entertainment.

And all but one of the games.... existed anyway. I don't really get your philosophy lesson here, thanks though. It's just a meaningless thing, built for engagement over anything else.

Okay Zen, thanks for the passive aggression.

He is an expiring contract and hit the most 3s of any player in the league last year (though Steph was obviously injured for a bit). He is still a positive offensive player and good enough to be a NBA starter, just nowhere near the 2nd option for a team with championship aspirations.

The issue we have right now is no #2 option. Wiggins played like that in the 22 Championship run but has now regressed to a 4th/5th option again and that’s if he gets back to some form - so far this season is not even a NBA starter.

Steph is still good enough to lead a NBA championship winning team. Draymond is still a good 3rd option though with a mental age that is regressing fast and as easily triggered as a 5-year old. Klay, Wiggins and Looney are all the 4th or 5th option on a team.

CP and the bench are strong enough. You have to trade one of Klay or Wiggins, package in Kuminga and picks and get someone who can be a #2.

For years I have been thinking about KAT being an ideal fit for the Warriors. I don't know if it's still possible, I highly doubt it but to me Kuminga and picks could have worked this summer and maybe next.

Edit: Vucevic could be a good alternative at the trade deadline.

His stats were better last season than I thought, with how people were saying he's done and a shadow of his former self. Looks like most his other seasons on paper.

But if that's the case why aren't the Warriors winning? I've heard Klay blamed more than anyone.

Klay was a positive defensive player, he has been negative since he came back. Also Wiggins missed most of last season and has regressed badly this season. Your 2nd and 3rd most expensive players need to be better than that.

Also, specifically this season, Warriors are choking a lot. All the advanced stats have them performing better than the Mavs for example. Like their last 3 road games have been - led by 22, lost by 1; led by 24, lost by 1; led by 12, lost in overtime. And this was against decent teams in Kings, Clips, and OKC.

He's shooting 40% from the field which is his worst shooting year ever. However, it is his 3 pt shooting that has really tanked. Career wise Klay shoots 41.4% from 3. In his career prior to this season he has shot under 40% only once and that was his first year back after a two year layoff. This season he is shooting 35.4% from 3, and has been a net negative on the floor. His shot has been all over the place and he's missing wide open 3s, the kind of shot he used to knock down in his sleep. I'm hoping it's just a lack of confidence but like the Dubs front office, we'll just have to wait and see.

The thing is, like @SinNombre says. At the moment he is nowhere near being a 2nd option for a team with Championship aspirations.

I did see his stats are down for this season. However it's early, and the complaints started before that.

It does seem the supporting cast is an issue. Poole and Wiggins were highly praised in the last Warriors run to the title, Wiggins now and Looney seems to be a step down. Strange since they seemed to have an embarrassment of bench riches not long ago.

I'm surprised they brought Green back after punching Poole and destroying his confidence.

I think Poole's issue was more due to him letting the money get to his head and his ego got way out of control. Poole definitely thought he was the next Steph and was acting like it. Draymond's punch was just a reaction to that attitude from all the reading I've done around this incident. At the end of the day, Draymond has been the cement around the key building blocks for all the championship runs and even if he's not the same player he once was, I am a firm believer in his elite winning mentality. They did right by rewarding him for all the years of service and Poole became a loose cannon who would not help the team in the long run imo.

I thought Poole made a joke about Green's mouth always being open and he lost it, even though he constantly talks sh*t.

You're saying it's a justified checking of an ego?

IMLTHO any complaints about his basketball before this season were not really merited. He was recovering from an injury and to be fair, he did quite well considering what he had been through. I think the Dubs front office was hoping/expecting continued improvement but if anything he has regressed. This season he's making 40 million plus and therefore he's being paid like the player he was rather than the player he is now. At that price he should be a bona fide second option and sad to say he is far from that at this point in his career.

Draymond's punch has everything to do with him and very little to do with Poole. To call it " just a reaction" is hilarious.

Also Jokic ejected tonight after saying a bad word towards ref and thats on his 1st technical, he never got 2nd technical, new meta

Getting tired of Green. Actually that's not true. I've been tired of Green for a very long time now.

Another 2/10 shooting performance from Klay, 1/7 from Wiggins and Draymond got ejected. And another close game lost.
