NBA 2022-2023

Anger? If you think that's anger then it explains your mentality. Always the victim. You probably get mistaken for a Liverpool fan a lot.

How’s it the victim mentality. No fanbase would be happy with a 29-6 discrepancy at home in a playoff game. Are you telling me that you would accept that in a rational way if it was the lakers

If only there was some reasonable reason for the abnormality that had been explained by 3 people already.

I don't remember seeing that many "anonymous" executive rumors about Towns. If one was to believe it, the Knicks, Blazers and Nets are interested.

The Knicks and Nets could be a nice fit but I don't see the Blazers do they have enough hard nosed players to take over when KAT is pouting?

Blazers are very realistic IMO. He’s like a perfect player to add to this team and delude ourselves that it can work as a title contender whereas in fact the ceiling of such team would be 44-46 wins and a second round exit with a bit of luck and favorable matchups. We also would definitely have enough to make the deal work, could trade our first round pick this year (which will be high), Simons (who would fit in well at Wolves) and probably unprotect the pick we owe to the Bulls so we could send completely unprotected 2026 and 2028 picks plus swaps.

Did you actually watch the game though? How about they drive to the rim if they wanna get some FTs.

Chuck up 50 plus threes and then complain about refs not giving free throws. I appreciate the laugh.

Entertaining as this banter is between Warriors and Lakers fans, you should both probably wait until one of you wins the series. Someone is going to end up with a lot of egg on their faces otherwise......

Yeah, when it comes the Blazers I like the trade opportunity for the Wolves but I worry for the Blazers, especially in the postseason. You know the team far better than I do so I could be wrong but when it comes to KAT the devils is in the details, he is an excellent player, an excellent regular season player but he lacks two things, composure on defense which see him in foul troubles very quickly and he isn't forceful enough in the postseason, though admittedly the sample size is small for the latter.

So if you have a roster that can push him as a third or even fourth option in the postseason, KAT will be an excellent sidekick for Lillard and even allow him to not work as hard offensively during the regular season. You would have to load on two way players though. Dillon Brooks and KAT could see you back at the top of the western conference above the likes of Memphis.

Warriors fans chatting to Lakers fans is city vs united and one series doesn’t change that. Also for Lakers fans we are already playing with house money this year. We weren't even going to make the playoffs but now some people have us as favorites against the defending champs and some even have us favorite to come out of the west/win a chip!

One thing I will give Warriors fans is they are developing that big team mentality of ring or disappointing season which the Lakers have had for a long time.

Portland signing KAT and Brooks would literally be the most trailblazers thing ever. Lock them in for a second round exit followed by a first round exit followed by feck what do we do now.

Damn, Warriors are like City and their fans are like Liverpool fans. Are the dubs fans in here just gonna let that allegation stand?

Until Curry drops off, that is, and it'll be back to normal after that I'm afraid. That doesn't happen in LA.

Re the bolded, I'm not sure. Like Arsenal, it was not expected but the way things have turned out, it would be a big blow for the Lakers not to make it past the conference semis this season. They started out the playoffs as a 50/1 7th seed, and now they are 3rd favourites for the chip at 11/2. Also Lebron is not getting any younger.

I like the City/United analogy. I see the resemblance. Apart from the petro dollars that is. Does this mean that Jeanie Buss is Joel Glazer?

I think the city comp is rather harsh on the Warriors. The core of that team is home grown, and with the exception of KD this entire run has not had any real big signings associated with it. Plus, they have real history. Those Run TMC teams were legit fun to watch.

So much rubbish being chatted by Lakers fans in one page. Taking the underdog route somehow I see

Of course I watched the game. You do realise that there are a lot of fouls away from the rim too and while the warriors didn’t attack the rim as much as they should but they still did it and got no calls. No one expects the two teams to get similar free throws because of the style but 29-6 at home is unprecedented

Any basketball game on the road with a 17-3 disparity at HT is not possible without some help from the refs. It’s fine though as the Dubs need to do better and forget about this stuff
29 free throws to 6 at home. I am sure it’s the kind of shots they take
Yeah I am sure 29-6 on the road is just normal
Agreed

You pretty much always reply like a 8 year old. You can just put me on ignore

Now why would I do that, isn’t the point of banter in a sports thread to needle the opposition?

Man, you seem to be as contact averse as your Warriors.

We still losing this series but man, at least we'll give them everything they can handle. Problem for us is AD and LeBron have to play too much. If the Nuggets can close out the Suns quick I think they'll win the West from here as the Dubs will be broken by 2 game 7s by the WCF and having to play at altitude in Denver is gonna make it worse

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3oQkChdkrAE Max struggle part from yesterdays show cant find, at end he had to follow Jay

Thanks. On a side note I saw their take on the last game and I saw some real BS. Some Wolves fans were laughing at the fact that since he joined the Lakers part of the media act as if Vanderbilt turned into a great perimeter defender in LA, they are all surprised that someone that has been doing that at an elite level for 3 years can navigate screens and guard all positions. As you said in your previous post, they don't actually watch basketball outside of big markets, it's just ridiculous.

Agreed, Hamm needs to figure out how to get AD some rest, he was absolutely shattered in the last 4 minutes last night, and you can definitely see how LeBron's foot injury is affecting him, he was just unable to attack the rim. I do wonder if maybe Hamm rests AD and plays LeBron as a "5" for a few minutes if Looney is out and Green is in as the 5 since he does not appear to trust Gabriel for more than 5 min a game. Maybe Hachimura sees more time? I figured the Lakers would take game 1 or 2, but I just can't see them taking 3 more unless GSW (except Curry) go ice cold from 3.

I'll take being like City from a winning POV, but like Liverpool fans - wash your mouth out with soap.

As to the FTs, not surprising, just disappointing.

That's because they committed an highway robbery in the Wiggins trade. Now admittedly the bank helped them but still!

It would not be a big blow at all. It'll be disappointing the way every season that doesn't end with a banner is disappointing but this is still a positive season for the Lakers even if we lose this series.

We got rid of the westbrook albatross hanging over our head and managed to get solid bench options. Arsenal were top of the league for 90% of it, their comp is Denver or Boston, definitely not the Lakers

The point was to show how expectations can change during a season, not to find the exact Premier League equivalent of the Lakers. The Lakers were outsiders, now they're among the favourites. You might not be devastated if they don't even make the conference finals from this position in a wide open playoff race but a lot of Lakers fans will be.

I don’t think the execs do either, given how cheaply he was traded.

Some definitely don't. I get why the Wolves traded him, he plays the same role than McDaniels and Kyle Anderson but both are better. Now I don't understand why the Nuggets(Already Connelly) initially sent him to the Wolves and why Ainge got rid of him that easily. In the case of Ainge he also sent Nickeil Alexander-Walker who looks like the guard version of a Vanderbilt-McDaniels since he joined the Wolves. If NAW ends up in a big market team it's going to be the same story, hopefully he is extended this summer.

I watched every single Jazz game, because of Markkanen. NAW did absolutely nothing in those games, but good that he is working for you. He was given plenty of chances, but failed to do anything, every time. Sometimes just a change of scenery can do wonders, for whatever reason, in this case it was not because of lack of opportunities or poor coaching.

On Vanderbilt; it is more on the other execs than on Ainge, as almost every player from Jazz was known to be on the market, but yeah, for that price I would have just kept him until next year (although it would have been detrimental to their tanking effort).

As someone who gets to enjoy to truly great italian coverage(seriously exceptional), and great coverage from the really good analysts on twitter(nekias duncan, hardwood paroxism, etc) i've known Vanderbilt was an elite defender for years :D

Shocking to me that the mainstream american coverage wouldn't know

He's bad on offence. That's the problem. Dubs are gonna leave him open to double AD heavily starting next game. We'll see how much he can stay on the floor

That's fair, I did hear that NAW struggled with the Jazz outside of a stretch of games where he was shooting a high 3 percentage in December? And yeah, I wouldn't trade Vanderbilt as cheaply as the Jazz did unless I had a few wing defenders on my roster which could be the case? I lost track of the Jazz's roster.

The point is not, that he is an amazing player, the point is, that he is much more valuable than his contract.

As long as it is not a corner three, as he is pretty good at that actually.

The point is that i'm not so sure he is. Players that don't need to be guarded often become unplayable in the playoffs. Vanderbilt averaged less than 20 minutes per game in the Memphis series and I fully expect Kerr to start taking extreme measures to limit AD. We'll see

Nope. Walker Kessler is their only good defender. Second is probably Olynyk who, even if he is the son of Danny Ainge, won't be part of the longer plan. Agbaji might be in the future.

Man, I was so excited when the Wolves picked Walker Kessler. I spent the year trying to cope.

On work calls all night so can’t watch the game. After all the FT talk after game 1 I thought the league might adjust, but only 5 for the lakers? Is that legit? The only starter with any is Vanderbilt?
