NBA 2021-2022

I usually don’t enjoy watching the NBA very much, more follow the stats, but I actually enjoyed watching the Suns-Mavs second half, that was some really beautiful basketball from the Suns. Chris Paul is incredible.

They're doing a great job on Luka and really making him work for his points, but also Luka is doing exactly what they want right now, just going it solo like that. And they're going at him constantly on defence, which is highlighting how bad of a defender he is in the process, and in this game really took a lot out of him in terms of energy
The stats were ridiculous for this game. Suns hunted for the Luka matchup 50 times in game 2 and averaged 1.72 points per shot.

They went at it 36 times alone in the second half. This is basically the opposite of what they did to Gobert, only this time Mavs have no choice but to keep Luka on because they're fecked offensively without him.

Yes, that's what i mean by doing a great job on him. And it's why i say the mavs need to change it up

They can't, simple as that. I don't think any other approach would work better than this one. This series is done and dusted, no matter what they try. The gulf in talent is too huge.

This playoffs has been more enjoyable than most. Maybe it's because Houston aren't in it so I'm not sitting around being stressed about having to face the GS juggernaut, but nearly every series has been fantastic so far this year.

The biggest issue is that Kidd can't make any adjustments. Force the tempo up and Luka gets fecked by the end of the 3rd quarter. Slow the tempo down and it'll play into CP3's hand and he'll pick them apart like what he does in the 4th.

Get Dinwiddie and Brunson to initiate and get Luka some feeds in motion for easier looks

And don't switch on defence. Or maybe try him on Ayton i guess

Looked like a normal foul to me, but I only saw 1 angle.

Nah that was about as dirty a foul as you are ever likely to see in the NBA. It wasn't just the contact on the head but also the contact on the right hip that threw him off mid-air and forced the awkward landing - that's something the NBA has focused on eradicating given the potential for injury. Personally I thought Brooks should have gotten more than a single game suspension.

Yikes, okay it only looks bad at the last angle.

Yeah mate didn't mean to come across as having a go at you or anything but that decision is entirely justified for me. Payton has already jumped and Brooks doesn't even pretend to contest by jumping himself - he just trucked him. Very dirty play.

No worries, didn't think you were giving me a hard time.

I'd be fine with 2-4 game suspension, things like that have no place in the game, there's no excuse like with some hard fouls that lead to injury.

1 game suspension for something like that is an invitation to other players to do exactly that.

It's right in line with the NBA's usual punishment. Grayson Allen also only got one game after breaking Caruso's arm.

That just means they got it wrong with Grayson Allen (who really is a dirty little shit btw) as well.

It should have been longer for both.

I do agree it should have been for longer. It feels weird to know he'll be back on the court while GP2 will be out for a few weeks.

I don't know if the severity of GP2's injury should have any influence Brooks' punishment. I agree 1 game feels too little, but if it was the regular season and GP2 was out for 6-8 weeks, it would be excessive to ban Brooks for that long, for example.

So for a few days now I have been thinking about how the Wolves can improve without cap space. And I wonder what you could get for D-Lo expiring contract and picks, is there a pass-first, defending point guard out there that is either worthy of a max contract or in the 15-25 millions range?

There most certainly is! A triple-double machine, master of the steal! His name is Rulles Bestwrook

Ricky Rubio

I would love it but he is better out of Minneapolis. Among former Wolves there is also Tyus Jones but Memphis don't want him out and a sign and trade seems complicated.

It really feels like the Wolves only have the draft as a way to improve even if they don't extend D-Lo which is hopefully the case, rumours say that he wants a max contract.

Ain't Pat Bev supposed to be one?

Timberwolves need a defensive wing more.

A member of the Memphis media (Rob Fischer) is petitioning the NBA to have multiple Warriors players suspended for game 3 because they left the bench to check if Gary Payton was OK.

Sad!

Everything Andy Kaufman said about Memphis is true

He is not having the best shooting night but my god luka magic is amazing. Probably the most fun player to watch. No comparison to be had with trae young. He is a tier above.

5 Mavs in double figures with defence doing its job, much better.
Still feel the Suns are too strong (12 turnovers from Paul and Booker tonight, that won't happen again), but we have a series.

Reggie Bullock MVP of game 3. And the Mavs with a more balanced offence at least to start the game, getting Brunson going

Luka's defence still an issue, but CP3 and Booker had an off night and the Suns finally didn't shoot lights out for once

The point is to remplace D-Lo who has an expiring contract and the defensive wing is fixed by replacing D-Lo in the starting 5 with a better suited PG, move Edwards to shooting guard and start McDaniels who is the defensive wing of the future for the Wolves, there is also Bolmaro.

I thought they'd never shoot under 60% again. Jesus Christ.
