NBA 2021-2022

Four fouls on KAT before half-time. Going to be tough for Minnesota.

We're in the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to love Pat Bev! Ant was amazing!

Fantastic win for Wolves. Their series vs Grizzlies is bound to be very good I think.

Nets have only cemented my view, despite Kyrie going off and Durant playing very well too they barely made it past depleted Cavs team who still did not have their second best player. No way they can get past all the teams, maybe not even Celtics (if they could get Timelord back I’d have them as favorites).

I do not think it was barely. They were leading by twenty, then slowed down a bit, but still for most part of the last quarter they were having an 8-10 points lead.

Winning the the play-in tournament should come with a ring.

Why did they keep these play in games ? Seemed pointless in a normal season

More games with something on the line = better ratings = more money for the NBA. Simple as that.
Instead of teams not caring about the last games because they're either out of the playoff race or already qualified, you get a bunch of high stakes elimination games where stars face off. It's the NBA's wet dream.

It's a revenue boost and it also is in place to discourage tanking - the play-in along with the adjusted lottery odds are the two biggest measures the NBA has implemented to avoid situations where a third of the league is actively trying to lose as much as possible (as was common as recently as 5 years ago).

I see people laughing at the joy from Wolves fans and players. They don't understand what it is to be genuinely terrible on a yearly basis.

I think it's rather embarrassing how people laugh at the Wolves. I bet those same people like saying things like "They just didn't want it enough" when teams fail, but god beware a team really cares about making the playoffs.

It was down to 6 which is tight. This wasn't a good Cavs team at all either.

It also was a huge win for them, the difference between 7th and 8th in the West is absolutely massive. As 7th seed you have a chance against Grizzlies, and then you also have a chance against Warriors/Nuggets/Jazz/Mavericks. At 8th you are basically only making it into the playoffs to get obliterated by the Suns.

Regarding Pat Bev, he cried due to the fact that after the trade he announced that he was going to make the playoffs. He knows that people were ready to remind him that.

KAT is such a weird cookie, very good player but he seems emotionaly dumb, also heard he was talking trash before the game and then you perform like that. Good on Wolves to move into playoffs, good shit.

Advice for watching a game. No team allegiance so not fussed who.

I'll be in San Francisco 29th April -> 2nd May and saw on the NBA site there's an unconfirmed game on the 1st May with tickets available at reasonable money.

I assume unconfirmed means if GSW win against Denver, they will play that date and if they lose, they won't. Or is there more rounds?

Should I buy the tickets now and hope or will they still be available once confirmed? Have I misunderstood 'unconfirmed'? Cheers.

The way the NBA playoffs work is that each series is first to 4 wins - i.e. the maximum number of games per round is 7. That date is unconfirmed because that game only happens should the series go to 7 - so you'd need Denver and Golden State to split the first 6 games.

That said, if you buy a ticket now but the series doesn't go the distance, you will get refunded for the value of the ticket (though this doesn't include Ticketmaster fees and the like). Personally I'd go for it - playoff basketball in person is an unbelievable spectacle, and if that game does happen it guarantees that the series will have been very compelling.

Game 4 is scheduled to be played Sunday 24th April. Games 5-7 dates unconfirmed. However, if needed game 5 will probably be April 26/27 and game 6 April 28/29/30 (game 6 would be in Denver). That means the game you are interested in would be game 7 which would be a packed house and expensive. If you are interested in going to a game and April 29 - May 2 is your time frame, buy the tickets now. If you wait, (unless you have money to burn) you won't get in otherwise. As @TheMagicFoolBus points out though, if game 7 is not needed you will more than likely lose out on ticket fees, add ons etc... since they are usually not refundable.

There's a chance there will be Game 7 of Round 1 on that day. It's going to be expensive.

I'm in SF on 23-25 April, which means I'm late for Games 1 & 2 and probably too early for Game 5. :(

Can't they have damn Game 5 earlier, I'll be there on 23-25 FFS.

I'll be around Flagstaff on April 30/May 1, there's a small chance Suns will be playing Game 1/2 of Round 2 around that time right? Though I expect Grizzlies v Wolves to be a lengthy series so it may not be there yet. Of course Game 7 of Round 1 could also fall on that date but I do not expect Clippers, Pelicans or Spurs to take them to 7 games.

Warriors v Nuggets schedule already out (through Game 4). You are too early for game 5 in SF I think. As far as Flagstaff is concerned, you might be in luck. Grizz v Wolves on other side of bracket so you would be looking at Suns v Mavs/Jazz. I'd like to see Suns v Mavs if Luka is fit. I think that could be a interesting series.

YEah, and I support the Twolves and Arsenal. Last night was such a happiness boost :D

Watching some shows today and you can clearly see that they never watched certain teams. SAS and Legler predicting that GSW cant beat Denver without SC, actually laughed haha. SAS even mentioned Will fecking Burton which is next level of joke.

It'll be close because Denver have some unsung guys like Barton, Morris, and Hyland, in addition to Jokic and Gordon. GSW have a great defensive rotation, but might be short on points if they have to heavily rely on Klay, Wiggins, and Poole for perimeter points. Curry should return early in the series, if not be there for Game 1 maybe with a minutes restriction.

No idea why I had them play Wolves v Grizzlies. Indeed they could be playing then, hope I’m in the luck though it is only 1 day so not that likely. I’m back in San Francisco for 1 day on 5 May, maybe I’ll have some luck then…

No it wont, Morris and Hyland were decent this season, Hyland wont perform in same way due defending being tougher in playoffs. Draymond will bait technicals on Boogie with ez, Jeff Green cant rebound, Will Barton shouldnt even be mentioned, majority would trade him for a traffic cone, guy is next level frustrating in offense, he will get 2x 3pts in a row and then his brain goes all hype which leads always to most forced shots and dumbest decisions you would ever see, defense is non existing, he cant stay in front of his man.

As someone who watched Denver almost every game, cant describe how weak supporting cast is, them getting Boogie saved that bench from Jokic plus/minus = 50pts.

Thanks, really helpful.

Thanks. They're ~$165 each currently - expensive enough but not stupid compared to a tourist PL ticket. I'll risk it. Somewhere central, opposite side to the players I assume (so SAF Stand Tier 2 if it was Old Trafford).

As I said, I don't follow it too closely so have no idea the respective team strengths (apart from 538) but it looks like GSW are far superior so it would be a surprise for it to go to game 7? Bonus if it does I guess.

edit: can't find any rules relating to Ticketmaster keeping the fees if the game is cancelled. They're quite hefty too!

KD is still the best player in the NBA. Haters gonna hate.

I think that Booker is a distant fourth for MVP. Jokic, Giannis and Embiid have all a better claim than him. My vote would likely go for Jokic.

My all NBA: Doncic, Booker, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic. Yeah, two centers but screw the rules.

My Hawks were on fire last night. Now they play the Cavs on Friday so they make the playoffs. I really like the play in tournament. I also really like when they make it to the playoffs. Otherwise all home games are black outs for me for both the Hawks and Atlanta United. Once they are in the playoffs, nationwide telecasts helps.

I am not convinced that black outs really do anything to increase attendance.

With Pelicans winning last night they are one game away from keeping their pick and conveying Bucks 2025 () to Blazers as compensation for CJ (who was amazing last night, he’s a big game player).

So essentially we will have traded our entire roster for Josh Hart.

The high Portland pick this year will go to Detroit anyway so I’m in a way hoping it’s not a top 4 one, but on the other hand if it’s end up being 6th or 7th they will probably throw in a future first or a young player to Pistons so maybe it’s better if it is no. 1 or no. 2 in the end. Pistons having two top 4 picks to add to Cade would be nuts though.
