NBA 2021-2022

LeBron ain't retiring for like another decade - dudes casually as hell leading the league in scoring. He's GM'ing his way to his dream teammate - his son.

This one is so weird. His son is supposed to currently be good enough to be undrafted. Is Lebron going to play in the G-League?

Russ has been Russ. The issue is two fold
i) they knew what they were getting and that he cannot play off ball
ii) He is unwilling to adapt.

Since Lebron is the better player he will have the ball in his hands so Russ is standing like a scarecrow pretending to be a spot up shooter which he bricks. When they only had 2 STARs Russ often played well but the tripod does not work. The issue is they traded their depth to get Russ who doesn't enhance their chances of winning and were left to signing vet minimums. Russ also cannot replace Lebron when he is out and they could not compete without Bron. They should trade Lebron.

The issue is that they don't play defence at all. Every team who is ready to run and play fast basketball (which is pretty much every team now) are crushing them. Everyone is on Russ, but the whole roster is also an absolute shitshow. Carmelo with that stupid trademark once he hits a three, but everyone is ganging on you once you should guard someone dummy.

Lebron with a scoring title, but not giving feck about defence to make it worse.

Still, wouldn't trade Lebron. Just put some shooters and solid defence around him.

James only plays defense in the playoff and every other players not named AD are subpar defenders if not embarrassing defenders. My issue with their roster construction when they traded for Westbrook is that they lack bonafide shooters, lack athletic wings and lack defenders, they also lacked a secondary rim protecter-rebounder in place of AD who even when fit would have needed a bit of rest. Then they decided to do what everyone feared in trying to put Westbrook and James in the same main lineup instead of staggering their minutes and have them as the main ball handlers for different 5s.

If you send Westbrook against most benches, he will destroy them despite his lack of efficiency and defense, he is also going to draws fouls on bench players while James draws fouls on starters. I feel like a bloody genius compared to what Vogel and Pelinka did and they are the ones with a ring.

I was just referring to "Russ" as the subject. Of course they don't play defence. Lebron is stat chasing and his points have had zero impact on winning.

That's fine, I trowed so much shit at Russ, so just wanted to put some balance.

 good in theory, but no way Mr. Triple double accepts secondary role imo.

That's an issue, I wonder how it works in the NBA. It's the league where player power is an actual thing, but at the same time if your team is properly built, you could use him as the 12th man and make him beg for the 6th because if you have a 5 that suits James, you are winning games easily without Westbrook and a part time AD.

But I know that you are right, may theory is fantasist

It was such a big deal taking him out in the 4th quarter like that was a MOMENTOUS decision. SAF took Rooney off in a Champions League final and it was no big deal. Basketball egos are on another level. Russ has come with the superstar ego. He said he has done enough in his career to play all the 4th quarter minutes. He has no self awareness and isn't as good as he thinks he is and hasn't helped the team the way he thought he could but walked in like a superstar and thinks he is the man still. I doubt he has been humbled in the slightest

Just read that the Lakers had more starting line-ups than wins this season. Sad fecking times. And unlikely to get rid of Westbrook with his massive contract as well. Maybe we should just trade AD now he's still worth quite a lot and focus on a proper rebuild, but unlikely to happen.

Rooting for the Grizz to go all the way now, or it wouldn't be the worst if CP3 finally wins one even though I dislike the Suns.
Although unlikely, I'd love for Denver to win it

Embiid is leading the league in scoring, but that brings up an interesting point. LeBron has only played 56 games and needs to play in 58 to qualify for the scoring title. Now that the Lakers are out does he risk possibly further injuring himself chasing that goal or does he call it quits for the season?

Embiid is on 30.4 now, LeBron on 30.3 - I don't think he's risking it with his injury and he needs to outscore Embiid as well.

LeBron chases stats even more than Russ. I'll be real interested to see if he calls it quits especially if Embiid has a bad game.

Come on, no one chases stats more than Russ. :nono:

Alright! Alright! That might have been a slight exaggeration, but LeBron is definitely up there when it comes to padding those numbers. :)

The AP just released its All Decade Team for the 2010s.

Stephen Curry
James Harden
LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Dirk Nowitzki

No true center, it appears

Think that's exactly why he wants it so badly, to at least give Bronny a chance to play in the NBA and prove himself. Because with his comments, there'll definitely be some teams who want to take a punt on Bronny if it means they get LeBron as well, even if he's already 40.

Will they though ? Seems like an utopia at the moment.

I feel bad for Bronny. He's destined to live in his fathers shadow all his life, he even has the same name. It's pretty obvious that he's nowhere near his dad in terms of talent and I don't think LeBron will do his son any favors by playing with him.

While there is rumours about NBA teams not rating Bronny, there is always the possibility of the Kings doing something stupid.

Woud a franchise compromise itself just to entertain a crazy scenario ?
100% yes. I don’t think any team will pick him in the lottery just because his dad will come to play but once you get to mid 20s or early second round, the decision whether to pick someone with 20% chance of becoming a rotation player or to just pick Bronny who won’t get you anything but will ensure you get LeBron for a season with all his marketing opportunities will be a real one.

I don't know. If we entertain it seriously, there is a case to be made for a team signing James in 2023 because he is still a top player, it could be the Lakers or someone else. Now that team could give Bronny a G-League contract in 2023 but I don't see a scenario where he is given a spot on an NBA roster, that would be crazy and create a lot of resentment particularly if James is on a max contract.

The last point being that if you get James on a mid-level exception then you take Bronny in your G-League team, it's a win-win. If James wants to get all the money, be your shadow GM and also bring his kid along then I don't see how anyone could accept it.

Not sure what Harden is doing there and where is Giannis who already reached a terrifying level.

In general, Harden, Russ, and Carmelo Anthony shouldn't be named among the best of this era as their way of playing is based more on individual stats than team success. In short, you won't win the league having either of them on the team.

LeBron, Steph and KD are no brainers, after that it's open to argument. I wouldn't even consider Carmelo, but Russ and obviously Harden (since he was actually chosen) have a dog in the race. It's a bit early for Giannis since he really didn't come into his own until the latter half of the decade but I do think he deserves consideration. IMLTHO, others to be considered would be Kawhi, Dirk, Kyrie and Klay and if you are looking for a center (even though he is undersized), Draymond Green. Draymond would be a tough call since he is nowhere near one of the top 5 players of the decade but the center position had almost died a death in the last ten years (until Jokic) and he is probably the best small ball center of this era and of course played that position in the so called Warriors "death line up."

I'm really struggling at shooting guard. I think my pick would be Harden based on individual accolades but I would choose Klay if I was looking for best fit as far as team is concerned.

In conclusion, therefore, my team would be:

Steph
Harden/Klay
LeBron
KD
Kawhi

....and if I was forced to play a center, Draymond instead of Kawhi.

I think that came out a little biased but it is what it is. ;)

Agree with beam, harden and russ are the most overrated players i saw in this league and been following on/off from late 90s or when ever was the nets(kidd) toronto(carter) series.

Steph
Klay
Lebron
Durant
Dirk

“Small” ball + dirk who would love this shooting era. Giannis and joker are more for the 20s

Steph
Paul (/here's the freebie pick depending on what you like.... make it a center if you want or a historic stat player or well fecking Kobe if you must)
Kawhi
LeBron
Durant

4 are pretty much cemented though.

Held serve, Lakers kept it close for almost 3 quarters but managed to pull away at the end. Agent Bazemore did us proud with zero points in 13 minutes. On to San Antonio where hopefully the Spurs have nothing to play for by tip off.

Nuggets twitter was briefly hilarious yesterday night

Playoff picture:
Heat clinched #1 seed
Bucks bumfecked themselves into facing KD in the first round :wenger:
Cs easing into the Bulls thanks to the Sixers loss to the Raptors
Cavs are screwed :(

Heat vs Hawks
Bucks vs Nets
Celtics vs Bulls
76ers vs Raptors

Heat, Bucks, Cs and Sixers through. Bucks vs Sixers ECF, Bucks to win East

West, honestly the only thing left to see is the #3 seed between dubs and mavs. Think the dubs will keep it

Suns vs Clippers
Grizzlies vs Wolves
Warriors vs Nuggets
Mavs vs Jazz

Top seeded to go through, Suns vs Grizzlies WCF, Memphis wins the West

Is there any chance of Ben Simmons returning for playoffs? Having him against Giannis in defense would make Nets favorites IMO (to be fair, I have them favorites to win it all, anyway).

So, I would go.

East:
Nets defeat Cavs
Hawks defeat Hornets
Haws defeat Cavs

Heat defeat Hawks
Nets defeat Bucks
Celtics defeat Bulls
76ers defeat Raptors

76ers defeat Heat
Nets defeat Celtics

Nets defeat 76ers

West
Clippers defeat Wolves
Pelicans defeat Spurs
Wolves defeat Pelicans

Suns defeat Wolves
Grizzlies defeat Clippers
Warriors defeat Nuggets
Mavs defeat Jazz

Suns defeat Mavs
Warriors defeat Grizzlies

Suns defeat Warriors

Final:
Nets defeat Suns

I don't see the 76ers making the ECF at all. They're a bit of a mess. Tbh I could even see the Raptors beating them in round 1.

Heat over Hawks
Bucks over Nets
Celtics over Bulls
76ers over Raptors (in 7)

Bucks over Heat
Celtics over 76ers

Bucks over Celtics

Suns win the West pretty easily I'd say.

I've been very impressed with Tyrese Maxey this season.

I would be absolutely stunned if Nets went past Round 1 let alone won the whole thing. Unless Durant goes like 40/9/6 for the duration of the playoffs there are like 8 or 9 teams I would comfortably have ahead of them.

They could steal a game or even two from the Bucks but that’s about it.

No. Would be silly to bring him back with zero game time beforehand plus I’m not that sure he actually wants to play basketball.

In the end we were both right in thinking that the 76ers should have accepted the Blazers or Wolves offers. And we were both right to be skeptical. Both Simmons and Harden seem suspect.
