NBA 2018-2019

Knicks must be confident they're getting those two FAs in the summer. Otherwise that's rough.

Buyout market just got good.

So angry I can't even speak. I hate Dolan, honestly he's just been awful, just awful. How do we trade away KP, how? I don't care if we got rid of contracts. Was so happy today about Martial, this has just ruined it. Feel genuinely sick.

Almost 100% certain KD is going there.

Yeah I feel this way as well and they probably promised him to get another free agent they are very confident of being able to sign. No other explanation for this trade which is virtually a salary dump at the expense of losing Porzingis.

Going to be hilarious when KD signs for someone else and Knicks fans are left holding their collective dicks in their hands.

 and then they will lose Zion to drop contracts of some crap free agents they get this Summer ahead of 2022 free agency.

Drafting Porzingis was virtually the only right choice this franchise made in the last 5 years.

They are a joke of a franchise I’m beyond pissed.

The Knicks could be staring at $74.6M in projected cap space for next season. That would be good enough for 2 max slots.

Dennis Smith Jr. or no Dennis Smith Jr., the Knicks grand plan is to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

So who is getting Jordan and Matthews after they are bought out by the Knicks?

I will be disappointed if Wes does not return to Portland. Perfect fit currently. As for Jordan I have no clue, I don’t value current DeAndre that highly but maybe he will go to one of the playoffs teams. They all seem to have superior centers though.

It’s confirmed they are buying out both of them ?

Grand plan, l o l. All it takes is for the Celtics to get a good streak and Kyrie will decide to stay. Then Durant is for sure not coming either.

I think Joel says it rather well:

There is just no way I see kyrie and Durant coming. And if This is the grand plan then they are the smartest dumb people i have ever seen.

Only positives of the trade is they got rid of Tim hardaway, Courtney lee, and burke and AT LEAST got Smith Jr.

No, but it'd be counter productive not to. Then again it's the knicks, so who knows.
It’s the SMART thing for them to do. Then again Smart isn’t in Dolan’s vocabulary.

The more I think about it the more I get mad. We traded KP for a guy we could have got in the draft that we chose frank over. kill me. please.

Smith was not the point of this trade. Cap space was. You did what Lakers did with Russell.

Now watch Dallas get a no. 1 pick and draft Zion. They will be in the lottery and probably have like 3% chance but it will happen.

Maybe they will actually tank this year to retain the pick and get more than 3%. Dallas won’t tank though, they’ve always been vocal about wanting to win games.

That'd be a dynasty cementing luck right there. Doncic-Zion-Unicorn with those other pieces... quite mouthwatering.

I understand that but I hope Smith Jr is content with tanking the rest of the season because we need to be in the hunt for that number 1 spot.

Just that thought is not fair. That would literally be the BIG .

I don’t think Knicks have any danger of going outside of bottom 5.

If anything he'll probably help with the tank tbh. Not sure what he's like this season but last season he was a huge negative when he was on the court (as most young point guards are). Definite potential but not sure he helps you win - yet.

No, it's not too much, it's essentially Porzingis for Smith Jr and 2 1st rounders, one of which is top 10 protected. Both those picks could be garbage. Dallas still got the better of that deal.

Think that people on this forum are getting misled by the Zion hype. He's extremely overrated when you look at how he may project to the NBA, especially the modern NBA. His shot is not reliable enough and he is undersized for the 4. Don't think he's a future all-star personally. He just gets the plaudits because of his amazing athleticism.

Burke's an expiring cheap contract. I think he was traded to make salary match .
