NBA 2018-2019

None of these guys will consider New Orleans though. Middleton is about as high as they can reach.
Yep, I know, edited my post.

What is wrong with NO, btw? I haven't been there, but everyone I know who has visited the city says that it is a nice city.

Getting good depth and building the team around Zion and AD is the right way to go, agree. Giannis/Kawhi have been showing that you don't need 4 all starts to be successful.

It is a great city, went there in 2006 (I think, or was it 2004) and was super impressed.

The issue with AD is what you can realistically expect for him in February if he still wants to go, because you don't want to lose him for nothing.

The issue isn't that it's anything "wrong" with NO, is it? It's the fact that it's a small market, which has a big impact on the sponsorships, marketability and such. You can make a lot more money being a superstar in New York, Chicago, Dallas etc. than New Orleans.

Yup. If he still wants to leave now 1 year won't change anything. Losing him for nothing is a real possibility if they don't trade him now.

I don't get why any team would give valuable assets in February to get a few months of AD when they (Lakers) will likely get him for free in the summer. Kawhi (who was in the same position as AD, with one year remaining in his contract and wanting to leave) who is IMO a slightly better (and definitely more proven) player was essentially traded for DeRozan. I am still surprised when I hear Lakers offering Kuzma, Ingram, Ball and whatever for him, or Boston offering Tatum, Brown and picks for AD.

Yeah he is depressed and only wanted the Knicks.

Salary cap reasons. Teams can exceed to resign their own players but not to sign free agents.

If Lakers sign a relevant free agent this Summer, and they will have to, there’s no way they will be able to afford AD next year other than via trade.

They can sign a free agent now AND then trade for him easily though.

I think of Brogdon more as a combo-guard, not sure I want him to be my primary playmaker. They do have Huerter though who is great too.

I do have a huge soft spot for this Atlanta team but they're not really my team.

Who do you really take as a power forward with no. 6 though? It seems like this draft is just wings and guards in the top 10, aside from Zion. Hunter could become a power forward but I'm not sure if he's not more of a 3, still.
Hachimura I think. Can see him fitting well with Ayton and feeding each other off.

Yeah, as others mentioned Lakers need the trade so they can afford him.

Wonder if Warriors lose KD if he will be on their radar.

That would be a huge reach. I can’t see him going top 10. Brandon Clarke is better but still a reach at 10.

They dont have the assets to get in the conversation.

Not even close.

Clippers, Lakers, Knicks and Celtics are the only ones who can make a compelling offer and have any hope of keeping him beyond 2020.

I think Clippers can make the best offer but I’m not sure they are that interested.

Ah, that makes sense. But shouldn't Lakers have enough cap to sign AD in the next summer? Unless the plan is AD + someone else big, which again, should be very hard to happen.

@adexkola would you trade Conley for Suns pick and TJ Warren? That would kick off a pretty dynamic rebuild. With no. 6 I think you can take a risk on someone like Cam Reddish. High failure potential but also higher ceiling than someone like Hunter, probably.

I feel like Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson is a start of something special.

I think they would also need to let Kuzma and Ingram go as both will be due for an extension next year. Ingram definitely will be, not sure about Kuz. And that would defy purpose of waiting for a year because you let those guys go anyway.

Also can’t see LeBron being too happy waiting out another year at 34 playing with one year contracts and kids.

Yeah sure. I'd rather Conley go to a team that has a chance to contend though, he deserves that at least. He'd do great at Utah I think.

Indeed but Utah have very little to offer to be honest. If you draft Morant then you don’t really need Exum and he’s pretty much their only tradable asset. Their pick this late is quite late but maybe this plus 2021 unprotected could be of interest.

Even if the let go of Green and Cousins?

Green's contract expires next summer, so cannot see NOP swapping him with AD. And he ain't as good as what Lakers and Celtics might offer.

Green is the last player you should be pairing with Zion.

Blazers blew this game, they had it in their grasp. Couldn't guard the pick and roll down the stretch, that just killed them.

Was expecting a Dame special. He should have fouled Igguadala right away.

GSW defense in the last four minutes was awesome, the only two open shots I can remember was the one missed by CJ and made at Seth Curry (that too on the offensive rebound). After those defensive stops they just ran pick and rolls which Portland had no answer to.

Stole that one. Portland were the better team through 90% of the game.

Am not that knowledgeable about basketball even though I love it. How can they defend it? Can they even defend it?

How come GS do it better? Is it that Klay/Igguadala and Green are just better perimeter defenders?

portland is going to lose because with the game on the line they defended a curry/green pick and roll with rodney hood and meyers leonard

Well they could defend that with anyone they like but would still struggle
