NBA 2018-2019

Why the hell were portland leaving steph of all people wide open from 3 time and time again? Did they mistake him for Westbrook or something? Kanter just standing near the paint while steph is casually swishing threes and running back.

And @charlton66, when is KD returning? Will he play this series?

you really have no idea what the next 6 years will look like. lets consider some of the packages they might get for davis.

ingram kuzma #4 future first
tatum/brown smart/rozier 2 future firsts

so you've got these players

Jrue
Brown
Randle
Zion
Rozier

or

Jrue
Ingram
Randle
Kuzma
Zion
Culver / Reddish / Garland

either of those teams win 30 games next year. plus potential to grow. maybe flip jrue for a good package also
Like I said. That team will end up winning the west? nah in 6 years he is outta there.

They dont. He wont win anything in NO and will be knocked out first round of playoffs every season. IF THAT. He will be gone in 6 years, Those fans dont even fill that arena I feel bad for him wasted 6 years of a career.

Yeah unlike Knicks who have had amazing record for years and he’s sure to have success there because they are so great at building teams.

Reading reports now. It’s strange because he did say multiple times he doesn’t mind any team drafting him and not it’s NY or bust.

Knicks were probably going to trade him for AD anyway.

Barrett is a bad idea if you get Kyrie and AD. Probably better to trade down and get one of the wings who can play off the ball and additional assets.
He would go got more money off of shoe deals in a market like NYC. Also like I said RJ will be a bust in this league. His shot is very inconsistent. Cant shoot the 3 well.

Cannot trade Rozier but I agree with you.

They’ll probably get no. 4, no. 6, Kuz and Ingram. Agree about possibly letting Jrue go for someone younger.

I agree we suck trust me I know we are fecking shocking. But he wont win in NO.

Had he came you dont think Zion KD and Kyrie would not steam roll the east?

He will get a ton of money from a shoe deal regardless where he is.

ok so you dont know what you are talking about and you're just mad the knicks didnt get #1
You are right about one thing I am mad we didn't get #1 and I am also a wee bit salty (a lot) which is making me a hater (possibly) BUT I would bet my kidneys he wins nothing in 6 years in NO and then leaves as a free agent like Lebron did.

They will, or they will both call out Zion for being young and inexperienced with Kyrie has to be the last player any young talent should want to play with.

And what if they don’t get those guys? Playing with Smith/Knox as your second best player does not sound all that amazing suddenly.

I like Pelicans getting that pick because they are not a dysfunctional organization that sucked for years being rewarded for being terribly run.

They actually wanted to compete this year but weren’t good enough and the season ended with AD trade request. Now they get another superb talent to build around and ensure they have another go at building around a generational talent, with a new GM in charge.

TBF to NYC they have a good and interesting young core. Lets say KD and Kyrie come Knox and DSJ are great squad players on good contracts and Mitchel Robinson is an absolute beast. NYC are in a better place now then in a long time.

You all are really missing the joke. So it must really have been bad. I was parodying @Sarni 's post. He referred to "the shot" which I assumed was Lillard's against OKC. I was referring to "the injury" as in Kevin Durant's injury.

I'll get me coat.
I got it

Trust me guys I know I am very salty about this lottery and will be for the next few days

I believe Draymond being suspended is also mentioned a lot

I think every great player in recent memory has some blunders in the finals. For Lebron, it was 2011 finals, for curry it was 2016 finals, for Dirk it was 2006 finals and so on. Also, you should take into account that in the post season, opposition players go really hard on Steph, constantly grabbing/holding and fouling him on three pointer makes. He rarely gets any foul calls in the post season, if any. I remember reading a stat somewhere that in last years WCF against Houston, he made like 70-80 drives to the basket but only got like 3-4 FT's. You know for a fact that Harden will get atleast 10 times that.

Just watch this video. He is probably the most disrespected superstar in the NBA today when it comes to getting fouls called on him.

According to Steve Kerr yesterday, he is not close. He is due to be evaluated on Thursday so you can pretty much guarantee that he will miss game 2 as well. As I said the other day, I don't think you'll see him before game 3 under any circumstances and if the Dubs can win game 2 as well I don't think he will be back before game 4 and maybe not even then.

True. Im a huge fan of this system. Tanking can now be a thankless task.

First time I have seen the lottery live and it was a complete disaster. NBA really needs to do a better job at this , it's like the cl draw but done in a completely unprofessional way . For some strange reason Rachel Nichols and woj were allowed to speak during the lottery process and try to explain what the implications of the positions was going to be . Poor kuzma sitting there had to listen to Woj talking about how the Lakers could use this pick to trade for AD

Well if they trade it, I imagine it'd be as part of a package to New Orleans for AD.

Possibly yes. If they offer their three young players plus that pick, New Orleans has to accept it. Maybe then they could package no. 4 with something else and slide up to no. 2 to take Morant, while trading Ball for no. 6.

Speaking of real basketball, we made it so easy for Warriors. Game 2 will be crucial, if we don’t even get close to them in that then it probably means we are losing in max 5. Disappointed with Lillard.

They won't go anywhere, simple as that. They completely wasted AD's first six years in the league and were unable to build a good supporting cast around one of the top 3 players in the league, let alone truly compete. 2 PO appearances during AD's spell, the first one earned on a tiebreaker with OKC with a 45-37 and they got swept by the Warriors in the first round. Great.

No matter what they do, I'd pretty confidently say they will be unable to compete in the near future. Small market team who wasted (yes, there really isn't another word for it) a "generational talent" during his first NBA years, unless something drastic happens they won't be able to compete in the near future either and it's likely that Zion just like AD will want to get away from NOLA as far as possible. Holiday, Ingram, Kuzma, Zion and Culver could be their potential line-up next year, you barely make it into the playoffs with that.

They got the best player out of college since this year and now they immediately get another chance at such a talent, I don't mind it per se but it's certainly nothing to be really excited about either seeing Zion in a mid-tier team next season. Would've been much more intriguing had he been able to team up with (at least) Durant in NY.

Happy with our #4 pick though since it means more of a chance to get AD now.

I'd take Jrue on top of AD as well while we're at it

Btw, Kanter needs to dominate the paint to play in this series. And Stotts needs to find an adjustment for the Curry-Green high p&r, quickly, or this series is over before it begins.

Also another adjustment they need to make asap: Lillard and CJ combined for 31 shots. That's just not a winning strategy for Portland

The audacity of Knicks fans to trash talk NO as a crap career destination. Your shitty franchise has been a graveyard for talents for years, time for a reality check. 3rd pick is still a very good outcome.

The most annoying thing is that the franchise with the other obnoxious fanbase, the Lakers, luck out with the 4th pick. Poor Hawks who get the worst pick possible for them.

It doesn't make that much of a difference to us since we won't be picking at our pick though - it just gives us a bit better of a package to offer to the Pelicans. The drop off in talent after the top 3 is quite big so #4 or #7 for example wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

I so wanted us to get #1 just to see the collective outrage from everyone else

They have a new GM now. Their mistake during AD time was trading away picks for temporary solutions and frankly they were super unlucky with Cousins injury last year too, that trade would have looked different without it.

I'm interested to how they will build around Zion and what pieces they will surround him with, and it's irrelevant what happened during AD era because that's completely new management.

Moving up from 11th to 4th makes quite a difference.

Griffin made poor decisions for Cleveland imo though, it's not like he's some super GM who's renowned for rebuilding franchises or getting the right pieces to surround a superstar. LeBron was never truly satisfied with his supporting cast and didn't he draft Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett as well?
