They won't go anywhere, simple as that. They completely wasted AD's first six years in the league and were unable to build a good supporting cast around one of the top 3 players in the league, let alone truly compete. 2 PO appearances during AD's spell, the first one earned on a tiebreaker with OKC with a 45-37 and they got swept by the Warriors in the first round. Great.
No matter what they do, I'd pretty confidently say they will be unable to compete in the near future. Small market team who wasted (yes, there really isn't another word for it) a "generational talent" during his first NBA years, unless something drastic happens they won't be able to compete in the near future either and it's likely that Zion just like AD will want to get away from NOLA as far as possible. Holiday, Ingram, Kuzma, Zion and Culver could be their potential line-up next year, you barely make it into the playoffs with that.
They got the best player out of college since this year and now they immediately get another chance at such a talent, I don't mind it per se but it's certainly nothing to be really excited about either seeing Zion in a mid-tier team next season. Would've been much more intriguing had he been able to team up with (at least) Durant in NY.
Happy with our #4 pick though since it means more of a chance to get AD now.
