NBA 2016-17

Remember our discussion about this series ? :D
Haha yes. Tbf I was careful to say that everything I was saying was based on Rockets series vs OKC which we can all agree was below their level. Play like this, which I thought was better than their regular season tactics with less dependency on Harden (Harden taking 13 shots as opposed to his season average that is 19 etc) and you can expose that Spurs defense. Let's see how Pop responds, needs to start Dedmon at least. And LMA, continuing his abysmal form as well.

I was sure that they were going to raise their game up when they meet an opponent as Spurs. The series is still going on, though and I still think it will reach game 6 or something like that but Pop needs to sort the problem of their offense. They are starting to become heavily dependent on Kawhi on offense + their defensive system to win, which isn't enough in playoffs.

One of the good things about Harden is he knows when he isn't having a good shooting night and he will stop shooting in favor of creating, 20 points 14 assists is a very solid return considering he didn't play the 4th.

Rockets can and will beat anybody when their 3s fall in. Still expect Pop to turn it around and make it a close series, but the Spurs will need Kawhi to win one or two games by himself to have a shot. Rockets are the better team unless LMA starts playing like an all-star

So 2nd best record in the NBA and you don't think they have enough good role players?

Not for the playoffs, after 88 games. Age is an issue with Parker and Gasol, and their vaunted regular season defence doesn't translate to the playoffs. They need LMA to play like the all-star he used to be, otherwise their offense depends way too much on Kawhi.

I agree that they can't match Rockets energy wise which will be key, let's see, I doubt Pop will go down easily.

I remember when the carry was illegal. Everyone does it now days.

i
its actually incredibly frustrating as someone who plays, because you watch the best player sin the world and practise some of their signature moves, only to get called up by refs .

Its more the spectacle rather than letter of the law in the NBA, nobody gets called for anything fundamental.

Some of the non-travel calls these last few years are a disgrace though.

It's become pretty much standard procedure in the nba to allow three steps instead of two

Nba players then have to adjust when they play under FIBA rules. Still, the last three olympic games between usa and spain have been great

Pity b-ball isn't big enough in Brazil

I find it boring to complain about traveling or carrying but, I do become an old man when it comes to screens. It is absurd the bs they allow on screens now. Guys are getting tackled and grabbed on screens now.

It doesn't really matter that it was a 27-point win as it's worth the same as a 1-point win in the playoffs but Rockets really did show they can make it very difficult for Spurs and that's what matters. Pressure is now on San Antonio to win the second game because if they don't, it will be hard to recover with two games in Houston.

I hope Jazz can scare Warriors but it's going to be tough. On the other hand, Houston v Warriors in the conference final could be fun. Rockets really did make it tough for Warriors in the regular season and even won 1 game.

On a different topic, Atlanta will apparently be looking to send Howard somewhere for 2nd rounder and cap relief. I am not sure anyone will bite with his monstrosity of a deal ($23M a season guaranteed for the next two years). If they packaged him with someone of any value then maybe. They must be looking to rebuild as it's very likely that Millsap will ditch them this Summer after Horford did the same last year. Hardaway Jr also becomes a free agent this Summer. They only have Schröder to build on as their young piece.

Thomas is just...unreal. Will be very hard for wizards to make a comeback with such a defect. The series will probably end with 4-1 to Celtics.

Well those were two homecourt games for Celtics. It's not unthinkable that Wizards take the next two in Washington.

If Celtics win one of the next 2 games it'll be over, and I think they can do it. Wizards are now under heavy pressure.

The Wizards just don't have the depth to compete with the elite teams in the East. If they can improve their bench they will be a really good side though.

Brandon Roy was shot (not life threatening) in LA while apparently shielding some kids. What a hero, hope for a quick recovery, really sad how his career went.

How would he fit in Dallas with Barnes and a middle first round draft pick looming?

Why did I stay up to watch this game? Thankfully tomorrow is a public holiday.

Spurs got their revenge from Rockets already and in the same brutal way. :D
The series is still going and it'll be a long one. The next 2 games are on Rockets home but Spurs were excellent on road in the regular season.

Think Spurs - Rockets will go to 7 and both teams have a chance. Giving the edge to the former, just because they'll be at home.

Maybe we should both be thankful it isn't decided in the playoffs anyway. Because Lebron and Kawhi would be running away with it
I like how Harden has played so far in the play offs, this was an off game so meh, I do think this series will be closer than anyone think, Parker now out for the series makes it a bit more difficult for the Spurs, but then again that means the ball will be in Kawhi's hands even more which scares me a bit.

Nah, it's a big blow for them on the offensive front. Kawhi isn't exactly someone who can run the court entirely himself.

CP3 couldn't arrive soon enough!

Let's see what happens, Parker isn't really young and I didn't think he'd be able to keep up with the pace of the Rockets, ydays performance was a complete joke by the Rockets and the Spurs shot over 60%, so like the first game it's a one off, expect rest of the games to be much closer and I don't expect Harden to play as bad as he did last night, but like I said before, I don't think Rockets have enough quality to surpass the Spurs, they need another star, maybe Hayward who is much better than Ariza? maybe even another 4?

Tony was quality in game 7 vs Memphis as well. Still would say it's a big loss.

Kawhi is basically peak Kobe right now. He's the second best player in the world. I think he can win 2 games in this series by himself. Whether the rest of his cast can get that 4th W is the million dollar question

I just saw a WNBA promo, apparently there's a player called Elena "Of The Women". Now i wanna know the story of that family name...

New game of zones episode:

The Oakley prison scene with the Rose bit:lol:
And the hilarious moment when George ran out of notable players from the Pacers:lol:
