NBA 2016-17

Beckenbauer
And Russell is what? Di Stefano I guess.

No undisputed GOAT in football so Jordan would have to sit alone.
Oh no you didn't

It helps that his team is focused on losing so they don't care about the score and can keep getting the ball to him once he reaches 30 or 40 points. No way does Booker get to shoot the ball 40 times from the field plus 26 free throws at any other team than Phoenix.

He is a very good talent and at only 20 he has plenty of time to improve but this 70-point game is misleading in terms of where he is ability wise.

So, who do you think should be in the All-NBA teams? I don't think the remaining 10-15 games are going to change much.

First is pretty straightforward, I think, with the exception of the center.
Westbrook
Harden
Kawhi
Lebron
Gasol

Now, I find the second team a bit more problematic, as I wasn't sure about Wall / DeRozan and the center. This is what I've gone with:
Isaiah Thomas
Wall
Giannis
Durant
Davis

Third:
DeRozan
Curry
Green
Cousins
Gobert

Not sure yet who I'd pick. The Eastern Conference is a joke and it's quite likely that no team with the exception of the Cavs will even win 55 games and that's no gimme the way they've been playing recently. I'd be tempted just to pick LeBron and 14 players out of the West, but of course that won't happen. I suppose if pushed I see Isaiah Thomas, Giannis and maybe John Wall or Kyrie making third team, everybody else plus LeBron from the West.

On another subject, Matt Barnes has been a great addition to the Warriors. We believe it was time for him to come home.

Nah he's legit. They give him the ball because the others shots aren't going in. Second option on offense is Marques Chriss who shots 1-11. He was the only one whose shots is going in. The stats padding only happened when he already got 60 and Celtics still leads by 19

Giannis is definitely an All-NBA player this season. He has been a monster. John Wall has been excellent too. Butler is also awesome.

After the initial slump it is rather impressive to see how well some of the Warriors bench players have done. West and Clark have been very good and McCaw has been solid as a starter. Lot of good contributions from the whole roster

The West doesn't have the guards for three teams. The frontcourt could easily have only James and Giannis from the East though. Butler is the only other one with a chance but I'm not sure I'd put him ahead of Green or Hayward for the third team.

This is not a minor slump for Cavs, again. Seems almost like through too much of resting they've rested themselves out of form. Losing at home to Washington less than a month before the start of playoffs is a bad sign, they could well end up playing Milwaukee or Miami in the first playoffs round and in current form even that could end with struggle.

That won't happen under LeBron's leadership.

Is there a team that is trying to lose as clearly as Phoenix Suns? 22-3 down to Charlotte within 7 minutes. Just wow.

I don't like those calls, and Harden gets them all the time.

Houston's shooting is fecking ridiculous tonight.

So disheartening to see Russ give 150% and come up short so often against good teams these days. Team has got to be better defensively though.

Climbed all the way up to the playoffs spot with a game against Nuggets at Moda Center coming on Wednesday! Thank you Pelicans, it seems that even though they won't make the playoffs this season, after Cousins trade they could be a serious threat next season. But for Kings that trade doesn't look all that bad anymore either - they were unlucky to win last night (amazing that due to NBA rules you can be unlucky to have won) because that moves them 4 places lower in the draft lottery but I don't expect them to win many more this season, they'll end up at 31, max 32 wins which should give them a nice pick plus now that New Orleans are also lotto team, that could give them another top 10 selection (just need to be hoping that Pelicans are not suddenly drawn in the top 3 as that would delay their pick to next year, and next year's class is supposed to be miles worse).

Bostons are on the same number of points as Cavalieres, and the remaining match between them will be on Boston. I don't think that anyone was expecting this at the beginning of season.

Are the Cavs just coasting? I'm not sure any more. All season I've just assumed they'd just turn it on when needed. They looked really bad tonight. Was it just counting down the games or are cracks starting to appear? Only time will tell I suppose.

Of course they are not coasting. Right now first seed is at stake and they are losing to every decent team out there. I don't even remember when was the last time they actually beat a good team out there. They were so bad against Denver, Washington and now San Antonio.

Sacramento cannot even tank properly. Second one-point win in a row, this time against Memphis. Instead of 4th or 5th with a good chance at top 3 it looks like they will now be drafting ca. 7th or 8th which removes likelihood of getting Fultz, Ball or Jackson.

Kawhi Leonard is a phenomenon. The only player in the league who is charged on both being the main attacker and defending the best player of the opposition team. He made LeBron his bitch yesterday, and he has been doing the same thing with every top player in the league.

Would it be too early to claim that not only he is the MVP, but he is the best player in the league full stop?

On other news, Cleveland are losing the first position in their conference. Also, what is the deal with Gasol and his three pointers? Can he ever miss one?

Thunder were actually 91-78 down and won 92-91. Quite remarkable.

Coasting is maybe a bad choice of words. Bottom line is, can they (LeBron to be honest) turn it on when required? The number one seed is an irrelevance. LeBron has won Championships with or without it. As I've said, all season I just assumed they would flip a switch. Not quite so sure any more.

I think no team in the East is ready to beat the Cavs in a playoff series at the moment, even when they're playing as bad as they have been. Playoff basketball is a different kind of animal and LeBron and his crew are proven in that area. I think they'll get to the Finals but whoever comes out of the West will do them.

I've said that all season but LeBron's finals streak has got to come to an end at some point. Maybe this is the year.

I wouldn't take that bet though.

They are considerably better than all other East teams. In the West only Warriors and Spurs are at their level personnel wise, and Rockets could maybe challenge them in a playoffs series due to how they play. Problem is they've been losing to everyone recently and have looked absolutely terrible for a month, just before the playoffs. If they come against Celtics, who have always caused them trouble, and lose one of the first two games at home or lose both away from home if they don't get the homecourt advantage, it'll get hot and could go either way. I still expect them to make the finals.

Miami would be a terrible matchup for them too in the first round. To Chicago they've already lost twice too. I just don't know. Last season it was kind of obvious that they were just waiting for the playoffs, now it's not so clear.

Meanwhile the Spurs look like they're going to win all the remaining games (not going to happen, I know). At the same time the Warriors have Rockets, Spurs, Rockets and Wizards lined up for this week. I guess winning at least 2 of those games will give them the 1st seed.

Westbrook again taking over in the clutch - has been brilliant this season.

On the Cavs, I am genuinely concerned about them now. I thought they were coasting but it seems more than that. They certainly won't be a match for the Warriors (or Spurs) playing like this.

He's an amazing offensive player.

Saw a funny stat about Westbrook, that he contested only 160 shots this season and has the lowest amount of contested 3-pointers of all NBA players who play 30 mpg+ aside from Whiteside and Gobert (who are fecking centers). He's a brilliant offensive player but I absolutely hate his stat padding in rebounding, he's a good rebounder for a point guard but he constantly loses his man to go to the rim and collect rebound, which is facilitated by his teammates who allow him to do that by boxing out. He'd be a much better player if he did not care so much about personal statistics. They have great rebounders in Gibson, Adams, Kanter, they don't need Westbrook to do that shit instead of defending his point guard.
