NBA 2016-17

We are the hottest team in the NBA right now. Won at Miami on back to back, Lillard with nearly 50.

Yeah, I still can't believe how great the Nurkic trade has turned out to be.

Yes. We are sorted at the backcourt, I think small forward options are generally fine with Turner, Aminu and Harkless but could be improved in the draft/via trade, power forward is a position of weakness but we will have three draft picks - Memphis pick looks like it may fall around 18-19 now, ours will hopefully be 16 (which will mean that we've made it into playoffs) and Cleveland's could actually drop to ca. 27 with a bit of luck. There'll be plenty of players available and it is supposed to be a very deep draft class this year. We could also consolidate 2 picks or 1 pick + player to move up in the draft.

We could comfortably get some of Hartenstein, Leaf, Rabb, Colllins, Motley (all projecting to be decent big men in the league) or Allen (if we got Grayson then Crabbe becomes tradeable). Maybe someone like Kurucs or Blossomgame as small forward prospect. With Nurkic we are sorted at the center for years, we will definitely extend him next year and the way he's been playing, I won't be surprised at all if he gets a max deal.

Playing with Pachulia is like having one hand tied behind your back. The Dubs are up by 23 at the moment and Zaza has +/- of -3 in 14 minutes. JaVale McGee is +20 in 13 minutes when he comes in to replace him. No fourth quarter again for Steph. He and Klay are a combined 14-27 from 3. I think the slump is officially over.

Yeah, insisting on playing Pachulia seems a bit strange.

Yes, it was an impressive win, but OKC really couldn't get anything going on offense tonight. They really don't like playing Golden State it seems. But damn, it's gonna be scary once KD returns.

On a site note: Roberson must be the worst offensive player in the league.

Well Zaza is only playing about 14-18 minutes a game so which quarter he is playing in is not really relevant imo

Jameer Nelson taking the hero shot at 124:123 for the Nuggets and airballing it just shows that the Nuggets aren't ready to be a legit playoffs team.

They need to offload Gallo and get a PF that isn't always injured when it matters and that can defend.

Offload Nelson as well, make Murray starting PG with Mudiay as backup.

On the positive side Murray, Garris, Jokic and Hernangomez is a great young base to build on.

Warriors definitely have OKC's number at this point. Similar to the Clippers, but it is probably more understandable considering the talent difference is greater. They have so many good wing defenders who can guard Westbrook (who tries a little too hard against them) that they shut him down fairly well. The rest of the players seem to completely choke too and they just can't get anything going.

For all those too young to remember, this game brought back memories of the Muhammad Ali - Ernie Terrell fight back in the mid sixties (look it up). Steph: "what's my name?" swish, "what's my name?" swish, "what's my name?" swish and so on with the knock out blow coming right before half time with the 30 footer and the sprint up the tunnel. Curry comes across as a somewhat meek kind of guy. Bottom line though - you don't poke the bear.

Do you mean that the talent difference is greater between Clippers and Warriors or Thunder and Warriors?

I have no idea why Kerr still starts Pachulia considering that McGee is much better in pretty much every aspect, and actually gives Warriors an another weapon in attack.

Anyway, clearly the slump is over, Curry and Klay can shoot as good as ever, and more importantly, Curry made an another awful dunk.

It is incredible how much friendly players are in NBA. Imagine this going in football, and some football legend repeatedly bullying a player:

I know, I know. In the recent months Shaq just became a cnut putting him in Shaq A fool for stuff that you see each player doing. But still, that video was in October after McGee was in Shaq A Fool like 20 times. And he still accepted the call for Shaq's birthday.
Yeah. But it's not really the players. The sports culture is simply very different.

It shows how boring and uncharismatic our pundits are too. I find the whole TNT crew good entertainment, Chuck is great value for money.

Is English TV more pc than America?

LeBron is definitely not pleased with LaVar Ball at the moment, while his son is a projected top three pick in next year's draft  What kind of parent says such daft things though, he's also said that Lonzo is already better than Curry ffs.

As soon as Steph made his first 3 I knew he was going to play well :(

They make a bunch of jokes but, Shaq and Chuck bring absolutely nothing to the table in terms of actual basketball analysis.

Lonzo is pretty good.

You want analysis, go watch bballbreakdown with coach Nick. As a longtime Lakers fan I enjoy watching film and listening to podcasts on lakerfilmroom.com. Pete breaks down the sets in detail in a way that's both educational and interesting. I highly recommend it even if you're not a Lakers fan just for the sake of learning the game.

What a silly game versus Bucks. We went 15 down in that terrible second quarter, looked poor for the first 4 minutes of the third quarter too and then went on amazing run and eventually came into lead with 3 minutes to go, by 3 points too. Then something just blocked in our players and we did not score a single point for the last 2 and a half minutes, allowing Bucks to grab the game. Really poor loss as we would have gone above Denver with a win last night, and if they beat Cleveland tonight they will be again 2 games ahead. We have a game against them at Moda Center though where we could close this, plus our schedule is really favorable. We are at Moda for all but 3 games while Denver are on a road trip for all but 4.

@Sarni Portland are in the pole-position for the 8th seed definitely. More home games and overall much easier opposition.

I think we are a better team than Denver too at this point as well. They have Jokic who is going to be a superstar, and a lot of good young players but ultimately we have two X-factor players (Lillard, CJ) and we even stole a potential center great from them (admittedly he wasn't playing anywhere near this good at Denver, largely because he was never motivated). Role players are similar quality except Denver do not pay someone like Crabbe or Turner $18M a year FFS.

Are you a Denver fan BTW?

I've always been a Spurs fan, but I follow Nuggets, Minnesota and Detroit closely because of Serbs playing there. Nuggets game reminds me of Spurs a lot, they're team oriented with lots of ball flow.

I agree about Portland better team atm. CJ and Dame are 2 great players with great understanding of each other's game. But I gotta say that if Nuggets young core (Jokić, Murray, Hernangomez, Mudiay, Garris) reaches their potential, they will be a very serious threat for any team.

I don't think that Nuggets were fleeced in that trade as some would say. Both sides got the piece that fits their game style. Portland got young and talented P'n'R center, that is a good rim protector and rebounder. Nuggets got the center that is similar to Jokić, can pass and organise the play, also a great rebounder.

Now what I think is that it was a mistake from Nuggets side to trade with your direct conference rival. That was just stupid.

I really rated Nurkic, but his attitude towards the end was toxic. 0 effort whatsoever.
