NBA 2016-17

That loss against Sixers was beyond pathetic.

...Why would you choose Curry? It's easy to say that because he's been playing really well on the best team for the past two or three seasons. Depends on the style of the team.
If you surround Westbrook with shooters like Houston has done with Harden then you'll have a very good team.
Steph shares a lot of the playmaking duties with Draymond on his team.
I'd like to see if he has the physicality to be a full-time pure PG for a full season.
First bold: I would choose Curry because he's been playing really well on the best team for the past two or three seasons. Might as well use your own words, they're as good as any.
Second bold: You would have a very good team on paper, it's just that Russ wouldn't pass to those guys once he got his assist stat up to 10.
Third bold: Steph shares a lot of playmaking duties with EVERYONE, that's part of the reason the Dubs are a great TEAM. Also, since he's the best shooter of all time why would you not take advantage of somebody getting the ball to him once he's open. That's almost like TEAM basketball.

I love Russ. He's entertaining as hell and probably worth the price of admission on his own - which is good, because often that's all you're going to get just pure unadulterated Russ. Having said that I'd still pay to see him play, all day and every day.

Seems like Rubio and Reggie Jackson might be swapped.
Doesn't make any sense to me? Reggie is probably the better player but the last thing Minnesota needs is another ball dominant player looking to score next to lavine and Wiggins (+towns). Plus there should be plenty of great pg options to draft this summer. And Detroit goes nowhere with rubio either. Strange.

That's just nonsense, sorry. He really isn't stat hunting to the degree everyone seems to think he is.

I was being a little facetious there. Sorry! :) I really do like watching Russ play though. He's like a whirling dervish.

Kawhi is too fecking good. If Russell is the current front runner for MVP, Kawhi is not far behind.
It is going to be between Kawhi and Harden IMO. Not sure that Kawhi has MVP numbers, but on the other side he is one of the best defenders in the game.

Russell plays for the sixth seed in his conference (10th best team overall), it is very difficult seeing him getting the award.

Russell's numbers are very similar to Harden's, with Russ scoring two points more per match (but having a lower efficiency in all three stats), making 2 more rebounds but one less assist, and essentially being tied in steals, blocks and turnovers. The difference though is that Harden has a significantly higher win share and so his team is the team with the third overall best record in the league. No player has won MVP while not playing for a top 2 team in the conference since the eighties, but with his team being the third best overall team in the league, it is easier to make a case on his favor than in Russ'.

At the moment my top 5 for MVP would be:
1) Harden
2) Kawhi
3) Westbrook
4) Durant
5) James

with the first two being significantly ahead of the others.

For it to be between Kawhi and Harden.....Russell has to pretty much go away for the second half of the season, because right now it's between Russell and Harden.

At a glance there hasn't been an MVP from a team outside the top 3 seeds in each conference in over 30 years (and only twice were they seeded third).

On the anniversary of Kobe's 81 point game, modern day Lakers score 77 as a team V the Mavs.

Lakers:lol:
Worst loss in franchise history is it?

Look about right. I can tell you Kawhi is almost certain not to win it based on media attention. The bball media has set it up as a Harden or Westbrook thing and with how well the Rockets are playing he's virtually a lock at this point, barring injury or a collapse from Houston the rest of the season.

I put in a bet on Harden to win MVP before the season at 25-1 so I'm happy with this outcome.

He never gets any credit because if he's not your guy everybody thinks he's an asshole, but the heartbeat of the best team in the NBA (or at least the team with the best record) is Draymond Green. He's their leader, their mouthpiece, their all around if you need me to be there, I'll be there kinda guy. He leads the team in assists, steals, rebounds and is second in blocks and is probably the favorite for this season's Defensive Player of the Year. So goes Draymond, so go the Golden State Warriors.

You don't become an MVP while scoring 10 points per match. Also, he has just 0.2 more rebounds per match than Durant.

I agree that he is their leader (neither Curry nor KD seems to have that alpha factor), but come one, KD is a significantly better player, and so is Curry outside of the finals.

I didn't say he should be MVP just that he deserves a lot more credit than he gets. If there was ever a guy who could average a triple double if he went chasing stats, Draymond is it.

Just as a comparison with Westbrook, his career shooting percentage (both 2 pt. percentage and 3 pt. percentage), is higher than Russ' as is his career rebounds/game and in the last couple of years since Draymond took on some of the point duties he averages about 8 assists vs Westbrook's 11 per 36 minutes. Can you imagine what Draymond would be like if he actually hogged the ball?

Draymond's the sort of player who does what he does to compete for Championships while Westbrook and even to some extent James Harden are the sort of players who compete for MVPs.

I'd give the DPOY to guys like Gobert who can defend without having their foot up next to the opponent's head.

Draymond Green is a punk.

Good thing he isn't allowed to carry a gun.

He would never be my guy, regardless of which team he's on. There are things he does and says which are plain and simple indefensible which I'll never condone. Dirty little shit.

Should have been born 30 years earlier and tried one of his cnuty moves against the 90s Pistons or a team like that, wouldn't get away without someone clocking him out then.

Great game from Dion Waiters. Thought it was going to overtime but he dropped that 3 in at the end.

7th loss of the season. Will be funny if their record is worse than last season after adding Durant.
I don't think there's any doubt that it will be. I think they've learned their lesson from last year (at least I hope they have) and don't go chasing wins when/if they lock up the number 1 seed.

If Rockets continue losing like this it won't be long before Jazz and Clips overtake them.

Jazz is looking strong against OKC right now, hopefully they take this win.

Ah, that was heartbreaking for Jazz. Battled hard for the whole game and that was pure money by Hayward to tie it in the end. Just enough time for Russ to win it in the last second though.

They had the GOAT record last season. Don't think anyone expected them to better it this year, with or without Durant.

Yeah Rockets are in a bad shape right now, think they are tiering out

I only follow the Timberwolves, Warriors and Spurs. Who should I check outside of them?

What are you looking for? Prospects, team basketball, great individuals?

A bit of everything really. Lets say team basketball?
