NBA 2015-2016

Spurs might have a chance. It's not often you see someone block Durant as Kawhi did in the season opener. Honestly, the latter is probably the best perimeter defender since Pippen as well as being an efficient scorer while getting more touches than he's ever got in his young career. It's also worth noting that the Spurs are 1st in defensive efficiency and probably have the best roster to match the Warriors' small ball line-up. Although their offence still needs work, I think they'll be just fine when it's time for the playoffs.
My worry with the spurs is always the same...

The health of Man Utd and Tony. Without those two at their absooute best, I can't see the Spurs beating the Warriors in a 7 game series.

Does anyone watch or keep tabs on the draft prospects?

I'm hearing great things about Aussie Ben Simmonds, he seems to be dominating all stat categories. Will he go number one?

What's his draft chances? Top 5? Number #1?

I'm loving that some Aussies are looking like they'll make waves in the NBA. Dante Exum and now big Ben. I think we have another prospect coming up too, some giant African-born player whose name defeats me ATM.

It's funny, but I think the 2nd most important person on that team isn't Klay or Barnes...but, Draymond Green.

As we are seeing, they can sort of survive without Barnes in the short term....but, Green?

No chance. I think a long term injury to him is just as terminal for the Warrior's hopes of a repeat.

He's defending for two. They have Iggy who is also a great defender though, but losing Green will have a huge domino affect.

Here is a visual representation I made after roughly 1/4 of the season.

  • Amazing how good Curry is
  • Westbrook has really taken his game to the next level
  • Harden is not having that bad of a year
  • Danny Green is not quite living up to his deal
  • Kobe...wow...

I'm not following college basketball much this season, but from my perspective, it's Simmons, then all others.

Thon Maker. His brother Matur and cousin Makur are also prospects.

Close game, late in 4th quarter, OKC play:

Option A: Durant iso contested 3. Option B: Westbrook iso contested 3.

Ugh. It's like Brooks all over again.

Donovan didnt really change the ISOs like he was supposed to, back to the old way and so many turnovers. Durant needs to take the ball from Westbrook.

That'st he one, he has a cool name. What are his prospects?

Matur Maker and Makur Maker are even greater names.

He will probably be one of the more interesting guys of the 2017 Draft. Like a lot of top prospects of this era his HS career has been a little murky. Right now he and his brother are at a prep school in Canada. This is his fourth or fifth high school since he has started to go to school in North America. He was going to do what his high school teammate Jamal Murray(a probable top 10 pick this season) did and finish high school a year earlier so he can play NCAA ball this season but, he was not able to get his academic work needed to accomplish that in time. So he will more than likely end up playing NCAA ball next season Indiana and Kentucky seem to be the favorites. But, there is also rumors that he plays a season or two in Europe.

For him just the prospect he has the most impressive highlight tape I have ever seen from a high school player. When you first see him you expect him to be the typical very athletic big who started playing basketball late but, he is a guy who tries to take guys off the dribble, tries shooting jumpers and wants to be known as a complete player. But, his lack of basketball experience shows up in his basketball IQ and decision making. At the Nike Hoop Summit he really stuck out like a sore thumb. Playing against some of the best young players in the World he showed the lack of refined skills he has at this point. He also needs to put on some weight if he wants to be able the grind of an NBA season. Some flaws but, the potential is sky high for him.

Wow, Rose has a worse TS% than Kobe? How is that even possible with Kobe shooting something like 30%fg

The Spurs definitely have a chance. If I'm not mistaken, GS lost both matchups against the Spurs last season. They were extremely fortunate to avoid the Spurs in the finals. Agree with your assessment on Kawhi, his usage is going up and his efficiency is holding constant. On the other hand, Aldridge hasn't been a seamless fit, and Danny Green's form is worrying. Great defense will stall Golden State, but eventually you'll need to put points up on the board. Then again, it's the Spurs we're talking about. They'll be a juggernaught by March. Sort of like Fergie's United teams of yore.
I think Aldridge will be alright. He just needs to adjust his game to the system, at the moment he is passing up a lot of open looks and isn't playing his natural game, but that will change once he's settled. Same goes for West.

Both have looked great so far this season, but yeah, their success depends on those two. It's beneficial for them that Kawhi has made a huge leap this season to take the offensive weight off their shoulders.

Great summary, thank you for that. What are your thoughts on Simmons? From what I've read/seen he's got everything and he's very versatile. What position will he end up playing?

I've only seen a few highlight videos of his, but here's my assessment. Simmons reminds me of LeBron, just with a lot less hype. He's basically a point forward with great handles who excels in transition plays. His finishing at the rim is excellent and he possesses great athleticism that will translate well to the NBA. His only major knock is that he can't shoot at all, but I am sure he will figure it out, since he's a good free throw shooter.

Rose is somehow shooting worse than Kobe in twos threes and frees. Crazy.
Still got double vision. Rose isn't jacking up 3s anymore as he did last season which is a good thing, but his finishing at the rim is terrible. The only things he has going for him at the moment are drives and kicks and bank shots. I am close to giving up on him.

By the way, what also stands out for me, beside what you listed, is how suddenly Lebron's FG stats don't stand out like they used to.

Watched the Raptors-Warriors game yesterday and Curry is just... When do you guys think the Warriors will lose? They'll probably beat the Nets tonight but maybe against the Pacers? It's just annoying with Steph though, as soon as Raptors got some momentum he just hits a couple of 3's and it's game.

I think Cleveland will beat them in their Christmas fixture. Don't think they will lose until then though.

Yeah looking forward to that game! One thing about the Warriors is they look great as a team. Other than Curry, Klay and Green the rest of the team is not great (although Iggy and Bogut aren't bad players by any means!(and Ezeli was great yesterday...)), they play so good as a team. It's impressive to watch.

I hate graphs like that, has no meaning to the average person. Can't they express true shooting percentage as a delta in the number of points accrued over a standard 36 minutes?

Steph curry having an off night from 3. 3-10 but then Klay Thompson steps up making 10-14

Warriors lost Klay though and blew a 30 point lead. It honestly wasn't too close but Walton chose to put them back in as a precaution.

Warriors are just incredible. It's amazing how they can just decided to turn up in one quarter and completely blow the other team away, against Nets they were losing by 5 at one point in 3rd quarter but decided they're not having this so they turned this into a 6-point lead in what, 2 minutes?

First season of NBA in ages that I'm following so I'm not too clued up about it but I've been really picking the interest in sport. Thank you betting and NBA 2K16.

They really have a shot at the Lakers' 33-game winning streak, only six wins away now. Also broke the record for most consecutive road wins last night.
