A lot would depend on any contract Howard is given. I think everyone knew he would opt out regardless, he can quite easily go to a team who will offer him either a MAX deal if they are stupid or a 18m/3y type deal which works out better for Howard than opting into his last year (more guaranteed money)
As for weather or not he is a good fit for the Knicks or not, who knows ? But you would have to think that Rose, Porzingis, Anthony and Howard would get them close to playoff ball.
