NBA 2014-2015

Mitch said they're happy with Scott.

They must be trying to tank again.

Thibodeau is a weird one. Obviously a defensive genius but there are a lot of concerns about the way he manages his players and it's hard to dismiss them. He just runs his guys into the ground, see the game where he had his starters in for most of the game when they killed Milwaukee by 50.

@Skills

For the top 10, I think you can start with the no doubt teams.

Top 5

  • 95/96 and 96/97 Chicago Bulls
  • 71/72 Lakers
  • 66/67 76ers (led by Chamberlain averaging 24/24/8 on insanely good efficiency)
  • 85/86 Celtics

Second Tier

  1. 91/92 Bulls
  2. 99/00 Lakers
  3. 14/15 Warriors
  4. 70/71 Bucks (Kareem, Oscar, 66 wins, 12-2 in the playoffs)
  5. 82/83 76ers (Dr J and Moses Malone, 12-1 in the playoffs, swept the Magic/Kareem Lakers plus Wilkes who was an All Star that year in the finals who also had Mcadoo coming off the bench)
  6. 88/89 Pistons (63 wins, swept the Celtics, swept the Lakers, beat the Bulls 4-2)

Fatally Flawed But Still Great

  1. 06/07 Mavs (lost in the first round)
  2. 00/01 Lakers (only won 55 games but went 15-1 in the playoffs)
  3. 07/08 Celtics (the league as a whole had lots of parity, only 1 team won 60 games and the 37-45 Hawks took Boston to 7 games in the first round)
  4. 12/13 Heat
  5. 86/87 Lakers (had a very easy run to the finals)
  6. 97/97 and 97/98 Jazz (lost to Chicago both times)

No Auerbach Celtics teams? Bill Russell?

Love to LA,Boston
Carroll to Boston
Pierce to LA
Gasol to LA,San Antonio
Aldridge to San Antonio

This is about to be an exciting off season, the EAST will be the marquee destination for FAs in the next 5 years imo.

What moves are you expecting your team to make this off season, or what moves would you like your team to make?

Durant to Toronto?

A man can dream right?

Russell in the draft and Love in free agency, I'd love that to happen.

Cheers for the list @Eboue Wasn't really aware about most of those 70s teams on that list, will look into them a bit more now.

Why do LA and Boston have appeal?

Gasol isn't going to SA.
LA has a whole load of cap space, some promising young prospects (Clarkson, Randee and the #2 pick) and either a benefit or negative; a vet who knows all about winning.

Then the intangibles, living in Cali and the benefits that come with that. Huge marketing potential and a lot of money to be made. All playing for a franchise that has a history of winning.

Celtics have a plethora of first round picks with some young talent already on the roster. Then there's the history as well, the winning culture.

Very appealing yes. There is definitely a lot of potential that will actualize down the road. However there are better options for players looking to win now.

Celtics made the Playoffs without a superstar, throw love and some role players in the setup and you have a team capable of going to the conference finals.

He was in born in California, he went to UCLA, Kobe is going to retire, making him the new franchise player.....who knows he might just recruit Russ from OKC next year and make them contenders again.

:( no!

You're not fazed by the constant rumours that K.D and Russ want to go home?

Nope. I am fairly certain that KD came out and basically said that he wants to stay not long ago. His family don't really like OKC though so that is an issue. The roster will be pretty stacked for next season too so I am not sure he would want to leave while he will have a good chance of a ring. Russ is a bit different though. He could leave, but he seemed to really step-up as a leader of the team this season so I dunno, just think he will want to stick around.

The Wizards might offer him an easier path to the NBA finals though, he is almost always going to be in the ECF if he goes to Washington.

Yeah that is the major concern. Curse the East for being so weak!

OKC have been extremely disappointing since they lost to the Heat in 2012 imo, they have the best 1-2 punch in the league and have failed to surround themselves with the right role players to push for a title.

I agree. Getting rid of Perkins for Kanter is good though. Having a good scoring big man is going to be a massive help. KD is yet to play with him. Defensively he is a liability though so that is a concern. The Roberson as SG experiment will hopefully stop now too. Augustin is a decent PG back-up and Morrow can help space the floor. I am feeling really confident about next season provided injuries are all good (KD's foot mainly).

That's down to the Eastern conference being a sack of shit.

That is the main reason they made it into the playoffs. Put them in the West and they're fighting for lottery picks.

Like i said, I'm guessing you only read the bit you highlighted, because this was clearly the point i was making, clearly.

I can't imagine him considering Miami. Okc has the best collection of talent / cap situation around him. Washington is his hometown. What does Miami have?

Me neither. It's either OKC or Washington come 2016.

More importantly

(1) His own franchise if Wade leaves
(2) The weaker conference
(3) Title winning GM and coach
(4) Chris Bosh
(5) The ability to build his own team.

But he can buy a place there anyway with his gobs of money. Spending half of half the year in a mansion in San Antonio or NE Ohio is find for most people if they get a winning team along with it.

What do you guys think about the rumors regarding a griffin for Durant deal if the thunder think he won't re sign?
