Nba 2011-2012

This page suggests the Pacers have a team salary of 58 million, 24th out of 30 teams. I assume this isn't prorated for the shortened season. Wiki says that's the salary cap is about 58 mil and the luxury tax limit about 70 mil.

I'm not sure if 'hoopshype' have their numbers right, I would think Indiana have a chance at a big contract but I'm not sure about the rules. I thought if you were over the cap you couldn't sign a big money free agent, but that can't be all there is to it because almost everyone is over the salary cap. If those numbers are right.

Credit where credit is due, since game 3 Wade & Bron Bron have played phenomenal basketball to get the Heat out of trouble. Now they're in a rhythm and Bosh is likely to return as well, things are looking good again for the Heat.

I never realised Juwan Howard was still playing, I'd never seen him play any minutes until yesterday - always thought he was a badly dressed coach.

It will be interesting to see if Boston [or Philly] have more luck with Miami. The Celtics were just as hot as the Pacers to end the season, something tells me the Celtics will give the Heat a better game, their veterans know how to get the most out of their assets.

I'm not convinced Bosh will play any games in this series, and I'm not a fan of bringing a player back early from injury, it just delays them getting healthy. The finals should be his goal, Miami shouldn't need him to beat Boston.

So far I'd rank the playoff teams as follows based on their post season performance:

1. Spurs
2. Thunder
3. Heat
4. Lakers
5. Clippers
6. Grizzlies
7. Celtics
8. Pacers
9. 76ers
10. Mavericks
11. Nuggets
12. Hawks
13. Bulls
14. Knicks
15. Jazz
16. Magic

The problem with the trade is that it messes up the team chemistry a bit, and the team plan in general, especially if you are getting an all star which means you have to give up more than one player..

Do Indiana still have some cap space left to add a maxed out player, like Deron Williams?

Assuming a player like Deron would want to live and play in Indiana. And from what has been repeated for a while now, seems Dallas (his hometown) is his likely destination.

They certainly need to add another scorer as evident when Grainger deparated in Game 5 they had no Plan B (same problem that plagues the Bulls without Rose).

Perhaps they could enter a Bynum or Gasol sweepstakes, but what would they have to give up in return, and would a third team have to enter into? (hypothetical of course)

Rondo with another triple double...Celtics finally put the Sixers away. But they're going to have to find an extra gear or two to keep up with LeBron and Wade.

I thought I remembered Boston giving Miami a hard time in last year's playoffs, but the series ended 4-1 to Miami. Boston was without Perkins, but they will be again.

Boston has one huge advantage, Rondo. If he can play at his best then Boston can win, if they play great defense. Chalmers doesn't have the speed to stay with him, and if he creates open shots for Pierce, Garnett and Allen they can knock them down with the best of them.

Another thing that comes to mind is when Boston put Pierce at the 2 against Kobe and the Lakers in their last finals win, Kobe couldn't compete with his size and he was able to take him to the rim constantly. Wade would have even more trouble guarding Pierce if they can get that match-up with Miami. Of course Miami is happy to play without a PG and can put Battier on Pierce at the 2 with Wade or James handling the ball.

If Bosh doesn't return healthy then this should be an interesting series. I'd predict Miami in 6, maybe 7.

Rondo's ability to get triple-doubles in playoffs is incredible, if he was a more consistent shooter then he'd be in the elite category.

I think Boston will give the Heat some trouble but if Wade & LeBron play like they've done the last 3 games I don't give Boston much chance unless all their stars show up every game and play lights out but that's not happened so far and Boston have been quite unpredictable.

Miami to win in 6. Spurs to take the West in 7.

San Antonio's 5 home losses this season:

Lakers 98 - Spurs 84 [April 11, 2012]: Parker and Ginobili sat out the previous game and came back ice told, 5-20 combined. The Spurs made 13-24 from 3 and shot a decent 41% from the field. But the Lakers made 11-23 from 3 themselves, as well as shooting 45% on 8 more attempts. Lakers badly out-rebounded them 60-33.

Clippers 120 - Spurs 108 [March 9, 2012]: The Spurs were without Tony Parker, but made 12-30 from 3 [40%] and shot 49% from the field. The Clips sank 5 more shots, at 51% from the field, as well as an impressive 52% [14-27] from 3.

Nuggets 99 - Denver 94 [March 4, 2012]: First game back from Ginobili from his long injury. Slim margins here, they made 4 less shots even though they made a higher percentage, 44% to 42%. The Spurs took 27 shots from 3, which is a ridiculous amount, but made 10 for 37% which is pretty good, better than 35% on 6-17 for the Nuggets. 9 more rebounds for the Nuggets, and 5 less turnovers, looks to be the difference.

Bulls 96 - Spurs 89 [Feb 29, 2012]: No Ginobili and took the lead into the 4th quarter, but were outscored 31-23 in the 4th. They shot 43% from the field and 40% from 3 [8-20] but made 8 less free throws and gave up 8 more rebounds than they collected. Parker shot 5-16 and Duncan shot 8-21.

Kings 88 - Spurs 86 [Jan 20, 2012]: No Ginobili, 5-25 shooting [20%] from 3 was their downfall, which helped bring down their overall shooting percentage to 38%. The Kings shot 44% and made 5 more shots overall but 8 less free throws. Neal was 3-12 and Daniel Green 4-11 off the bench.

That's it.

Of course this is the playoffs and it's a different game now, that's has to be intimidating for anyone. You don't hear that much about it, but since Jordan retired, the Spurs have had the most intimidating home court in the game. Loud fans and great teams that play really solid and rarely beat themselves.

Should be a great game!

What a shot by Man Utd to end the first quarter! Brilliant start to the series.

Fish firing them in so far. Why can't they just add the extra point on the missed call from Fisher's 3 onto the score and tell the crowd they missed it in realtime?

Excellent first-half basketball, end-to-end stuff played at a terrific pace.

Won't be able to stay up to watch the 2nd half so I'll predict that the Spurs will go on and win this game, although I wouldn't mind Fisher getting a buzzer-beater for the win.

I think the Pacers and the Sixers need to be higher up. How does a team that reach the second round get ranked lower than a team that got knocked out in the first round? Pacers played better than the Lakers.

How good is Ginobilli splitting the two defenders on the top of the key? He does that time and time again.

From 9 down coming into the 4th quarter to a 9 point lead with a minute left. OKC have hit two late 3's to bring it back a bit but it was a really dominant 4th quarter. They found their pace after going a bit too fast then a bit too slow. Jackson did a great job on Durant.

Havent watched much of the Western conference this season....Ginobli and Parker having a great game and are cutting through the OKC defense at will...is the OKC defense that bad ?

OKC was 9th in points allowed per 100 possessions with 100.0, San Antonio was 11th with 100.6. Pretty good for the 2nd best offense in the league after the Spurs.

39 points in the 4th for the Spurs...one more point than they scored in the 2nd and 3rd quarters combined!

Pop showing his coaching talents with the late game adjustments.

Westbrook and Harden ain't that good at defending. Durant's great length helps him defend better. Selfolosha, Perkins and Ibaka form their big three regarding the defense side.

And if anyone wants to know how to guard Durant, they need to look at how the Spurs and especially Stephen Jackson in particular defended him down the stretch in the 4th.

Thunder lost that game not because of the genius of Pop or Man Utd, but because of how shit Brooks is...not playing Ibaka down the stretch!

I've watched basketball for a long time but the X's and O's of the game never really stuck in my head. But whatever the Spurs did differently in the last 1/3 of the game made a marked difference. Splitter kept getting excellent looks by hanging out on the low block and waiting for the double team, the pass would come as his defender left and he did a great job of finishing or getting fouled, though his FT shooting was a problem.

In the middle of the game the Thunder seemed to be all over the Spurs and for all their passing they couldn't get an open shot. I don't know if the Thunder tired a bit or if it was Pop running different plays, but they were getting very good looks in the last quarter plus.

Once the game was out of reach OKC made three 3's to the Spurs going 3-4 from the line on intentional fouls and almost came back, but there wasn't time. But you have to credit OKC for not giving up.

The Spurs will likely execute even better in the next game after getting a game to work out their tactics. But OKC can play better than they did, I expect another fantastic game.

I probably won't watch Miami-Boston, I don't like either team. Being a Lakers fan it's hard to root for Boston, even though I like Rondo and Garnett.

Just checked the box score of the Miami game and it's 21-11 to the Heat after 1 quarter. James has 13 on 6-9 shooting already and I thought, oh yeah, who on Boston can defend LeBron? Pierce? No way, much too slow. Garnett? In his prime, sure, but at this point he's not shutting him down and can't dominate him with help defense. Brandon Bass isn't going to be shutting James out in the paint either.

Boston starters, outside of Garnett's 3-4, are 1-15. That's one for fifteen.

Hope you're enjoying this Danny!

lol Not really.. Tables has turned in the second quarter and it's a tied game at halftime.

Wade needs to get it going if the Heat are to have a chance in this one..

I don't think it needs further explaining when I say this will be the toughtest matchup for Miami yet.. A real champion will play like a champion, no matter what.

I've changed my mind, Miami in 4 or 5. No one on Boston can guard James, I'm not seeing this one being possible for Boston after watching a bit of the 2nd half.

You didn't watch the second quarter. You might change your mind again..

Too many things went wrong for Boston this game. Terrible free throw shooting (Boston missed 10 out of 21 free throws!). Invisible Allen (6 points, 7 shots, and 3 for 7 free throw shooting?!). Bad night for Pierce (5 for 18)... Just say Pierce goes 8 for 18, Allen hits 1 more three pointer, and Boston sink 5 of those 10 missed free throws, and the game could be a complete different story.

It's only 1-0 now, as Miami wins at home, where they are supposed to win.

Edit: By the way, Battier and Turiaf are impressing me more and more.

If Bron-Bron keeps playing like this then perhaps he'll lose his 'LeChoke' tag, but still a long way to go in the series.

Pau apparently wants to go to the Bulls. Would be a great move for him and Chicago but unless a 3rd team gets involved, I don't see the Lakers making that move happen.
