Nba 2011-2012

Same thing happening to the Lakers and the Mavs. Both up by 17 in the 3rd quarter and their opponents have somehow fought back and tied the game.

yup. sa went into give-up mode and sat the starters. the backups started bombing 3s until they had the lead. Mavs won by the skin of their teeth in ot.

Blake's the better dunker imo, he has more 'wow' moments than bron-bron.

That dunk yesterday :eek::eek:

Meh he just about touches the rim, it's impressive but that's more of power layup shall we say.

?

Great dunk, they should raise the rim!

A little stat overview:

Kobe still averaging over 30, but it's not helping the Lakers much:

1. Kobe Bryant, LAL 30.2
2. LeBron James, MIA 29.2
3. Kevin Durant, OKC 26.8

Nash is back from an early slump to lead in assist, but no one is over 10, Rondo was up above 13 at this point last year. Rubio's numbers are way up from early this season.

1. Steve Nash, PHX 9.9
2. Rajon Rondo, BOS 9.4
3. Chris Paul, LAC 8.9
4. Ricky Rubio, MIN 8.9

Dwight eats rebounds.

1. Dwight Howard, ORL 15.3
2. Kevin Love, MIN 13.5
3. Andrew Bynum, LAL 12.2

JaVale and Jordan soar above all others.

1. JaVale McGee, WSH 3.14
2. DeAndre Jordan, LAC 3.06
3. Serge Ibaka, OKC 2.40

Rubio again, and Conley doing well to get into 2nd place in steals.

1. Chris Paul, LAC 2.46
2. Mike Conley, MEM 2.39
3. Ricky Rubio, MIN 2.24

Ricky Rubio's having a very good season. He looks a very talented player, some people were ripping him and calling him 'shit' before he had even played in the NBA!

He was pretty mediocre the first time I checked out his stats, averaging about 8 points and 6 assists and more like 15th in steals, but he's come on quickly! If you take his slow start out of it his stats would be even better!

Looks like he's the real thing. Minnesota are actually winning basketball games this year, they're 10-11, that's better than Boston, the Knicks and Milwaukee, all recent playoff teams in the East.

Rubio definitely has the right coach to take advantage of his talents. If he keeps doing this well and Kyrie Irving drops off, we might see three ROYs from the same draft class.

What everyone does not pay attention to is his rebounds. He is averaging between 4.5-5 rebounds which is huge for a PG.

Given how little basketball Kyrie played last year(12 games at Duke then the late NBA start) and the fact that he's averaging 28 min per game, his numbers should go up. He's averaging 30 pts per 48 min, which would put him up to 7th in scoring in the NBA. I think he'll get better over the season.

I'm not biased though. :wenger:

Irving has been tremendous, he deserves a huge amount of credit, as you said only playing 12 college games.

Too bad the Cavs don't have anyone else worth talking about.

It's crazy how the Bulls keep doing it whoever is missing....they seem to struggling more without Deng than they did without Rose, which is obviously down to having more backups for guard position than for small forward. But hopefully Deng and Hamilton are ready for the playoffs, Hamilton is doing than I expected especially if you throw in how much he's missing too.

Walton booed by the home fans , strange , any back story here?

Kenyon Martin is back in the NBA and the Clips have wasted no time in signing him to a one year deal. I think he is still a very good backup to have. They have only good guards for backups and as a result their second team just sucks when Paul and Griffin hit the bench. If they have a good scoring backup for the Centre position, they will be a very good team.

First team:
Paul
Billups
Butler
Griffin
Jordan

Second team:
Mo Williams
Randy Foye
Ryan Gomes
Kenyon Martin
Reggie Evans

I wonder if he turned down the Lakers!

Hard not to like this Clippers team. Billups just keeps going and going, I bet the Pistons wish they never got rid of him!

I don't know if the Lakers could afford him plus they have two options for the bench for the PF position. They have a salary cap of $-30m right now and Martin signed a $2.5m deal with the Clips. And regarding Billups, I am not a big fan of either him or Williams. I would prefer them to trade Billups and actually get a proper shooting guard.

Well, Billups is certainly a bit of a defensive liability, but at least he can score. NY got rid of him to sign Bibby and that's turned out to be a small disaster, Bibby is behind Shumpert and Douglas at the point and never plays.

I'm still in shock that the Lakers signed Troy Murphy, I thought they were smarter than that! Anyone would be better than him, imho.

They did not want to let go of Chauncey. Even when he came to Knicks, the first there said he did not like being there and won't be signing any contract extensions because he wanted to leave.

Billups sometimes makes horrible decisions when coming up the floor. He has like 20 seconds on the clock and you are coming to the end of the game, without wasting time he chucks a three. Paul is so much more intelligent.

And regarding Murphy, when he was with the Nets two years ago, he was a very effective player averaging 11 points and 10 rebounds and he was the big man who could shoot the three. But yes the last two seasons he has been dismal with injuries and performances.

No Griffin in the dunk contest this year :( Maybe bron-bron can man up and give it a go for once but without Blake the dunk contest & all-star weekend will be a bore.

I think there is more chance of signing Götze than LeBron taking part in the dunk contest. He is a pussy.

Murphy averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds with the Nets.

He did have a few double-double season, and I'm not saying he doesn't have assets, he's a guy who has started in the NBA. But he's a liability on defense and he's slow, and not a good enough shooter to make up for it. I thought it was a disaster when the Pacers got him and they went downhill when they did.

My bad. I meant with the Pacers. But that is what happens when you have three huge contracts on your team with one being one of the highest paid in basketball if not the highest.

NY suck. Don't think their coach will last too much longer, talk of Phil returning to coach them which would be interesting, especially if they can get Howard as well.

Ray Allen has the most natural shooting action I have ever seen, it's lethal everytime.

Mike D'Antoni, regardless of what others might say, just sucks. I hate him and if NY are to become a contender, then he is most definitely not the right person to go forward with. They need a good PG as well.

D'Antoni is one of the highest profile coaches for his past success with Phoenix, but he's never taught defense it's always been about offense and running. But Amare isn't the same guy who ran all those lap for the Suns, and while Melo is deadly on the fast break, the team as a whole doesn't seem to be able to take advantage of the D'Antoni offense as much as Phoenix.

And while that's a huge statement, I have to agree that Ray Allen has the purest shooting action of my lifetime, I modeled my own shot after it!

And why the hell would you go to Novak for the game tying/winning shot when he hasn't played for in I don't know for how long?

The playoff picture in the West is starting to look more like expected:

1. Oklahoma City [18-4]
2. Denver [15-8]
3. Clippers [13-7]
4. San Antonio [15-9]
5. Lakers [14-9]
6. Dallas [14-10]
7. Utah [12-9]
8. Houston [13-10]

Randolph looks to be out at least another month, which could spell disaster for Memphis's chances of getting into the playoffs, who sit now at 12-11.

San Antonio have done well to climb the standings even with Ginobili out, and the Lakers and Mavs have quietly clawed back to respectable records.

Look at the Clips, 3rd in the West! It must be 2012.

What D'Antoni is missing is Nash. His problem though will always be defense, that's why I don't think he can win a championship.

The Knicks suck right now, but they are a dangerous team. They are one piece and one click (chemistry) away from being a very good team, because they have many (very) good pieces.

Having said that, I don't think D'Antoni is the right coach for them.

As much as people complain about the Lakers spending, the Knicks have been spending even more over the last 15 years. So the labor adjustments are an impediment for them more than anyone, they won't be able to sign endless expensive guys anymore.

I suspect they're over the cap and have two superstars, something that's enough to get OKC to the best record and the Bulls can't claim. The Melo trade really hurt them, he's great and all but their supporting cast just isn't cutting it.

I get the same feeling about D'Antoni, not the right coach for those players, though no fault of his own.
